  1. What tire pressures are you starting from ? With a modified CMC framed car on track days I started with 18/20 rr, 205/50/15 on 15x8 wheels, modifed CMC framed. At a local autocross I tried 18 and went to 16 which was wrong.
  2. Do celebrate when you get your plates, you have been put thru the wringer and came out with a street legal !!!! Also CA. #ed and enjoying it.

  4. You might want to include pictures and if it is early or late production. I have an early CMC framed car. Does yours have Miata or RX 7 suspension ?
  5. Thanks Martin for a well run event with your own challenges. His crew had to setup at 5:15 in the morning using headlites, as the strip was used by a film crew the day before! Contestants showed up well before the sun as his group has such a good reputation for events. It was great to meet other 7 owners and swap notes, we were unaware of each other ? look forward to you driving your own car next time, you'll likely beat me as I watched you do a " warm up" lap prior to the event. xxx mph. on the straight! Ingmar
  6. Never seen an autocross with dimensions, well done. Is it setup for a dead stop cone or slow before exiting ? I assume you start from the bottom for a slow exit ? thanks
  7. I signed up for Speed ventures Buttonwillow on Saturday 22nd, anyone else? They also run Sunday. Also planning to go to Streets at Willow Nov. 5th or 6th let me know if you can make either day. Streets is great with our cars, lower speeds and tighter corners. Great to have a running car again.
  8. I signed up and looking forward to it. Had a shakedown day with local autocross and it went well. thanks Martin
  9. Thanks for the tip on the BOV. I will be starting out with low boost which will reduce the chance of damage. I have room on the 3" 90 just short of the intake, and can include that in my next order from Columbia River for mandrel bend alum. A local shop Trackspeed Engineering has his Miata at 360 hp on E85 for the track, my ambitions are much less but looking forward to drive it on the street soon.
  10. one of the many challenges was mating sensors to metric threads, sometimes it was easier to weld on pipe thread bung.
  11. Sharing some progress on changing out from a stock 1.6 Miata to a turbo 2002 1.8 Miata in my locost. The exhaust manifold to turbo I made in stainless, the turbo is a Garrett 2871, with an aftermarket Honda intake mated to to Miata intake. I decided to use a Subaru type intercooler setup for the short runs and keeping my radiator clear and I liked how it worked on my sons WRX. Also using LS2 coils for an individual spark controlled by an AEM EMS-4. The wires will be all tucked away once the car is running. Currently having some challenges with the computer reading my sensor inputs or more likely me following directions
  12. Domestic engines should be simple to get parts for - Today I was looking for metric to standard pipe fittings for my improved Miata, and no one had any. Then again my Ford truck is a mixture of metric and american, and its ultralite weight smooth intake manifold cracked last year ($$$$$$$$$$), the valve covers leak, the switches dont' all work. But I do look forward to the new Bruntons, where do I get a chance to drive one to compare it to my turbo Miata 7 ?
  13. Martin Please check the website as "not found" . I will find it and sign up. reWiring up my car after a very long (30 days= 8 months) garage visit. I did buy a 95 Miata for a short time and it was great fun until I had to put the top up-- it was too darn hot. I know you had bought one which inspired my to buy one with a blown engine. found it http://pcasb.org/pcasb/images/CamarilloAutoX_Sep2011Color.pdf you didn't mention you are the registrar. a highly unpaid volunteer position, I just finished a year of one end of July Ingmar
  14. It does look British, but like a British twin keeled sailboat of the 70's. It functions and is very stable.
  15. After burning out the muffler twice, Trying something new, found these Burns Stainless 3" on ebay and plan to run them in line. They are very light and loud on a V8 so I will just have to see how they are on a Miata once I get turboed engine in.
  16. Let us know how it turns out. I have dynaflows but they rapidly burn out to almost open exhaust.
  17. Great bikes, 7's and bikes - same people
  18. Best pricing yet on a R500, may not fit all drivers.
  19. The Myth Busters hosts would be much better at this job. Tanner and his buddy seem to be reading their funny lines and being funny. TG is about guys hanging out and kidding, demolishing, supporting by being non supportive each other- not reading lines. Perhaps the producers are going for the younger audience. But my sons are not watching TV they may watch something online with no commercials, and they have cars but no passion for them. To them cars are dishwashers and toasters. Which means they have money in the bank !
  20. Update on Magnaflow as shown on page 3 - the replacement muffler is now burnt out. Very nice and quiet to start out but "fun" and track use burned out first one in a few months, second one even quicker. Just didn't want someone else to go down this road. Muffler cost was replaced on warranty but still. I'm looking for a 3inch muffler now as updating to 1.8 engine and going to turbo.
  21. gone already. post deleted
  22. Thats an hour north of me, nice looking car.
  23. Yesterday took my visiting sister out for the first time, behaved myself for the first 3 miles than opened it up. She screamed and laughed all the way thru 3rd gear. Wants another ride before she heads back to Vancouver Canada. There was a mix up in my MRI time today and had to take the car for a ride up the twisties for an hour. Darn And then on the drive home got to get on my favorite on ramp, back end was coming around nicely. Then stopped for a business meeting and the heavy equipment operator asked to hear it open up, didn't have a choice, right. Oh a nice day!
  24. I think we had more fun per $ but it was great for the owner of the Mercedes to come out with his new car. Nice owner, gorgeous car. Sorry didn't get any times. It was a slow speed course put on in Lompoc by the Corvette club.
  25. enjoy great looking car, is that a bc or ontario plate?
