Yours sounds great compared to what I am getting, I can't even hear the exhaust at nearly full throttle over the wind and I had the mic right over the exhaust. I also tried it taped to the back of the seat out of the wind and also on an extension into the footwell and it was all just wind noise. I will try covering up the built in mic, I assumed it would turn off with an external mic (what are they thinking?!) thx

So Croc, did you do anything to get rid of the wind noise? Using the same mic as you are all I get is wind noise, can't even hear the car. I tried it wrapped in foam and behind the seat and out of the wind, also on a long extension in the footwell and no luck. I am wondering if it is even working

If you want a narrower FOV you should take a look at the ReplayXD it has a 135 degree angle of view. I was seriously considering this one as it offered an external mic before the GoPro and it looks a hell of a lot cooler. Ultimately I went with the GP2 after talking with my aforementioned friend who uses them for car commercials as he said they tested a lot of different cameras and settled on the GP There is also a lot of aftermarket support for the GP even other lens choices if you are willing to modify it http://stuntcams.com/shop/gopro-m-17.html

Thanks! It's the big 40 (monday actually), I am almost catching up to all you old farts, almost.... :jester: I didn't see the option to buy a skeleton case, but I don't need it waterproof, so will drill it out. I picked up the same mic you are using, will see how that works with some foam on it before buying a powered one Foolishly I had a brain fart (getting old, see above ) and bought the GP rollbar mount, why I don't know considering I have a case full of professional camera mounting equipment :banghead: I will see if I can return it.

I just got one today for my birthday, gonna give it a "go". I take it you drilled a hole in the housing for the mic? .

Why would you want to straighten out the road anyway, the curves are the fun part :driving:

No kidding, especially since they are not even going fast. It's a European thing apparently, they find it acceptable to cross the line, here it's a big no no. In the canyons here you get chastised if you are seen crossing the line and there are guys who will film you and post it on YT

It's an R300 Duratec

You may recall that I was trying to buy a similar type 7 that was on ebay a while back but ended up with a Porsche 550 Spyder http://www.usa7s.com/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=2574&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1293209631 http://www.usa7s.com/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=2575&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1293209631

in the title of the post..... And I disagree, the Nissan Murano Convertible is worse http://0.tqn.com/d/cars/1/7/E/P/2/11_murano_cc.jpg It is ugly and homely, the juke is just ugly

It needs to be complex, it weighs over 4000lbs I was at the press launch of the Murcielago LP-640 and we were able to take the cars out on the track, and despite hitting nearly 150mph on the straight, it was more fun to tell my friends about driving the car than actually driving the car. It certainly was nice, but IMO the size, weight and luxurious appointment water down the experience, not to mention I didn't have the ability (and how many people do?) nor the wallet (and how many people do?) to drive it to the limits, do you really want to write off a $400+k car at 150mph? Cars like this are also not that exciting on the road, you can by far break the speed limit in 2nd gear, so you end up driving a really fast car slow That said, I was later taken for a ride with an Indy car driver at the helm and he pushed the car pretty hard we were sliding around corners, up on two wheels, late braking, etc., it was pretty exciting but at the end of the day it took an indy driver to get the car to be almost as fun as the Caterham is with me, a mere mortal, behind the wheel Lamborghini's sure make nice jewelry though

I find it bizarre that this guys MO is to make normal posts for weeks and then just snap one day randomly. And then to keep coming back over and over. Seems like a lot of work just to mess with such a small group, surely it would be more fun on a bigger forum. On the other hand, perhaps he is schizophrenic

After my 13 year affair with my Elan, I am quite over vintage Lotus, well except for maybe a type 23b, or type 11, or type 72, or......

WANTED: REAR VIEW MIRROR/ exhaust cover
MoPho replied to ERNSTEVERYTHING's topic in Parts For Sale / Wanted
You can have my stock mirror, I will bring it with me on Monday when I see you The Mirrors for Sevens solution is a better solution, you're welcome to borrow mine to see how you like it -
I have 15k miles on my car, much of that chasing an Ariel Atom (which kicks up a lot of gravel) through the canyons and my nosecone is now getting to the point where I would like to paint it, though I will probably live with it a little longer. It's chipped pretty bad but only noticeable when you are close to the car. I will probably consider clear bra'ing the nose when it gets painted around the leading edge and the chin which is where it is the worst. I have CF fenders and they didn't really show much damage from rocks (as a matter of fact you can get CF stone guards for the rear fenders). My fenders did fade really bad from the SoCal sun though and I just had them refinished, came out better than when I bought the car, so I put clear bra on the front of them. We'll see how that holds up I have had to paint the front suspension a bunch of times though, it seems to get completely sandblasted. I plan to put non slip tape on the fronts of the A-arms, I have been told that is a decent solution http://www.findtape.com/images/product-450x450/ISC-Non-Skid-Anti-Slip-Tape.jpg

I was just up there last week, but for a photoshoot

The PO put it in the car and it is a 55l tank so pretty much takes up the entire boot. I have room for a tool roll and a jacket that is about it. I never need that much gas in it, so would rather have the storage space. Also, street gas, and especially CA street gas which has even more ethanol in it, deteriorates the foam in the tank. A short time after taking ownership of the car, the fuel filter (which was conveniently hidden inside the tank) clogged up and caused the fancy $450 fuel pump to eat itself, which then sent thousands of tiny bits of aluminum into the fuel system. It took months of cleaning out the injectors, fuel rail and fuel lines to finally get the car running right again. Putting new foam in was a bit of a chore too, so not looking forward to having to do it every couple of years (Can I run it without the foam?). Too add, the ATL fuel gauge is not even close to being accurate and no amount of calibration has made it any better. It does look cool though :cooldude:
