  1. Yeah, agree....I've used those pics to figure out what work I'll do underneath. Thanks
  2. Thanks....that's my motivation for the high aspect tires and a home made sump guard
  3. Thanks....that is what I had measured at the sump and figured the bell housing to be higher... appreciate the effort.
  4. Bob, the gent selling to me still has it awaiting shipping and he measured everything for me...but I'll get that from him and thanks for your effort. Appreciate that. Pat
  5. The 3" at the Vauxhall 2L sump is just shy of 3" at 75mm so raising that a bit is, in my mind, required ...I could go 205/50r16 for almost another 1/2 in. But, I am leaning towards the 55 aspect for the safety factor. The 'stock' 205/45r16's are 23.3 presently. Unexperienced territory for me presently. Appreciate your input greatly and that is a decided help. I don't know that the bell housing sits as low as the sump in the Vauxhall 2L as it is 'tipped' forward a bit to clear the bonnet. Therein lies the rub (no pun) ....not my Caterham but this is the view with the 2L 20 ex.
  6. How many here drive their Caterham Vx 2L wet sump on the road? I've read a great deal about dry/wet/baffle/surge etc.... and the clearance issues. Hence my questions from those experienced here. Tried the search but you know how that goes. What is the/your clearance in inches/mm if you know. I have about 3" so may go to a higher aspect tire like a 205/55r16 that will give me an inch more.... not concerned about the speedo. Presently nonadjustable front shocks/springs...that could change. I doubt I'll dry sump it for the 12mm difference (I'm told that's the dif.) and the issues of doing that. FYI, I will replace the baffle as the old one is 7 years old but less than a thousand miles. Appreciate your comments/ experience on the road.
  7. Thanks, not confused and will identify the vehicle and the registration both with agreed upon value.... I've done the agreed prior with numerous vendors but the title matched the actual vehicle.
  8. Thanks gents.... "it is all becoming clear to me now.." Inspector Jacques Clouseau
  9. That is very helpful, and Az has no issues at all transferring it as is. I'd forgotten about the agreed upon value event as that basically makes it a moot point in many regards as to 'fairness'. Regardless I will call the insurer and discuss this...
  10. The title for my soon to arrive Caterham (professionally built titled in the north east originally) is a late 90's Vauxhaul Caterham 2L full on build. DCOE's, Hydraulic cam upgrade etc.... but was titled as a 67 Lotus and has a Lotus Vin plate with number. This was done in a state that recognized pretty much whatever you wanted in replica/recreation. It has since been transferred to Michigan and registered as the same...Lotus '67. I don't know that I am comfortable insuring that as a '67 even tho the title is legit. Any experience with this issue..... emissions is not an issue...my county has no emissions laws nor inspections in AZ.
  11. Thanks, appreciate the help..... Merry Christmas to you.
  12. That car was in the post 'lemon lot' as there is/was no trade in of cars in Italy (at that time anyways) ..you sold your car and then went shopping. I paid 2500 for it... and that was 'money' to me then. It would do an honest 140 mph on the autostrada and it really was sweet...everything worked on it.... they are crazy prices now but they only made about 2400 of them so parts are hens teeth.
  13. Have to show this one...I was a Sgt. in the 1/509th ABCT in Vicenza Italy...mid to late 70's and bought this 3500 GTI Maserati. Had the engine rebuilt locally and was my daily driver. Single, Maserati and my own apartment in Torre DeQuartesolo 8 miles from Caserma Ederle (the post)...man, that was a time...
  14. Thanks, figured but wanted to make certain before I bought a QR...the 7 isn't here yet...shipping this time of year being what it is.
  15. What is the bolt pattern on the stock Caterham hub...anyone know.... like 50.8 m PCD 3 hole?
  16. Is the steering hub 3x50.8 PCD on the Caterham?
  17. Sorry, you got it before I deleted the comment....good luck with the sale.
  18. Never mind...read the rules.
  19. Did a search and found old material ... is there a 'bolt on' available of quality that does not require removing the shaft? I would not mind a little extra finger room or a closer wheel. Like this...not sure about the bolt distances. I do want a quick release for a wider diam wheel Works Bell RAPFIX Racing Steering Wheel Quick Release System Kit - Bolt-On
  20. I've sent them a note and the connectors are different so will buy two of the newer ones and swap it out...that's a good question about the limp mode ... I'll shoot them another message. Just hoping someone had one but another guy said they can be specific to a model/engine.... not sure.
  21. I'd like to have a spare...no longer made so would have to change out the wiring (that isn't that bad but...) Chances are slim but I thought I'd ask...thanks
  22. Thanks, very interesting on the oil issue.... everyone has cooler weather as we do now, and I'd be more apt to run the car in our winters than the dead of summer. I plan on a full shroud from the nose past the oil pan on the sides to keep debris from the open belt/cam sprockets and then a sump protector plate similar to the one shown here lately. Looks rather easy to put in place and I have a drive on lift in the garage. Thin alloy for the shroud and similar 1/8 in. for the sump shield. I'd be nervous running that low a weight of oil tho...presently has 10/40..otoh 0w40 might be the ticket. Appreciate your time and info....now all I have to do is convert those temps to 'Merican....
  23. I'll do that...it has a management system and is set at no advance presently and has an internal rev limiter. Thanks, no hi jack issues at all.
  24. BTW, talked to Steve, seller and a very nice gent, and he will put the adj. seats in place and box/ship the squab seat so I'll have both. Also, he is running 92 Octane pump gas, without issues, so obviously the ratio is probably normal. Given the holidays probably get the car soon after Christmas...and Merry Christmas to ya'll and thanks for your help.
