  1. Honestly, I suspect a not so solid check...either hot (as he had to drive it over)...as far as I know the pistons/head are original so it should be the 10/1 ...I just didn't want to see low numbers....he has miles on it with no issues using pump gas. BTW, I have some history with the seller and trust him implicitly.... I read yesterday in 'The Magnificent 7' Chris Ree's that it is recommended to use a tank of leaded every 5 fill ups for the carb running 2L VXhall.... so am assuming more fuel wash of the valve train .... anyone doing a little Redline lead additive in this lump periodically?
  2. The guy I am getting this from put SBD cams in the lump with the 45 DCOE's and the SBD belt system with ARP studs thruout....he sent the pics of the compression tests but they could be off some....hard to tell. Like this except for no dry sump pump. Est. 190/195 hp.
  3. Daily is a '23 Stingray...traded in a Porsche Cayman on it and am very pleased with the change...wanted to buy US for a change but never considered this until they went mid engine.
  4. Thanks Carl and I sent you a message..... I have been looking for a sump plate for the Vauxhall but anything I can modify will do...
  5. New to the 7 ...but have owned a Lotus Elise and numerous other sports cars...daily driver is a '23 Corvette. Just purchased a '99 Caterham series 3 w/ a nice Vauxhall 2L /webers and 18,500 original miles...all of the cylinders reg 210 on comp test. Retired Army CSM...10 years Inf/23 years SF. I'm soon to be 74 so relatively young. Yes, I can get in it...and out too! Always thought I'd enjoy this model and will be asking questions etc. from the experienced here.
  6. Say a 50 or 55...the first would gain about 1/2" and the later 1"
  7. Firstly, hello from Arizona and my first post...long time sports car owner (longer than I like to admit) but just purchased this but not yet in hand. Gents, a car that is enroute to me has the original Caterham 16" wheels with 205/45r16 tires. This will be a street car only and I am concerned about ground clearance where I live so was wondering if anyone has run a higher profile for that reason? I understand the speedo will be off some, but I am more concerned about the sump. As the width would be the same would there be a clearance problem with the wings?
