  1. The title for my soon to arrive Caterham (professionally built titled in the north east originally) is a late 90's Vauxhaul Caterham 2L full on build. DCOE's, Hydraulic cam upgrade etc.... but was titled as a 67 Lotus and has a Lotus Vin plate with number. This was done in a state that recognized pretty much whatever you wanted in replica/recreation. It has since been transferred to Michigan and registered as the same...Lotus '67. I don't know that I am comfortable insuring that as a '67 even tho the title is legit. Any experience with this issue..... emissions is not an issue...my county has no emissions laws nor inspections in AZ.
  2. Thanks, appreciate the help..... Merry Christmas to you.
  3. That car was in the post 'lemon lot' as there is/was no trade in of cars in Italy (at that time anyways) ..you sold your car and then went shopping. I paid 2500 for it... and that was 'money' to me then. It would do an honest 140 mph on the autostrada and it really was sweet...everything worked on it.... they are crazy prices now but they only made about 2400 of them so parts are hens teeth.
  4. Have to show this one...I was a Sgt. in the 1/509th ABCT in Vicenza Italy...mid to late 70's and bought this 3500 GTI Maserati. Had the engine rebuilt locally and was my daily driver. Single, Maserati and my own apartment in Torre DeQuartesolo 8 miles from Caserma Ederle (the post)...man, that was a time...
  5. Thanks, figured but wanted to make certain before I bought a QR...the 7 isn't here yet...shipping this time of year being what it is.
  6. What is the bolt pattern on the stock Caterham hub...anyone know.... like 50.8 m PCD 3 hole?
  7. Is the steering hub 3x50.8 PCD on the Caterham?
  8. Sorry, you got it before I deleted the comment....good luck with the sale.
  9. Never mind...read the rules.
  10. Did a search and found old material ... is there a 'bolt on' available of quality that does not require removing the shaft? I would not mind a little extra finger room or a closer wheel. Like this...not sure about the bolt distances. I do want a quick release for a wider diam wheel Works Bell RAPFIX Racing Steering Wheel Quick Release System Kit - Bolt-On
  11. I've sent them a note and the connectors are different so will buy two of the newer ones and swap it out...that's a good question about the limp mode ... I'll shoot them another message. Just hoping someone had one but another guy said they can be specific to a model/engine.... not sure.
  12. I'd like to have a spare...no longer made so would have to change out the wiring (that isn't that bad but...) Chances are slim but I thought I'd ask...thanks
  13. Thanks, very interesting on the oil issue.... everyone has cooler weather as we do now, and I'd be more apt to run the car in our winters than the dead of summer. I plan on a full shroud from the nose past the oil pan on the sides to keep debris from the open belt/cam sprockets and then a sump protector plate similar to the one shown here lately. Looks rather easy to put in place and I have a drive on lift in the garage. Thin alloy for the shroud and similar 1/8 in. for the sump shield. I'd be nervous running that low a weight of oil tho...presently has 10/40..otoh 0w40 might be the ticket. Appreciate your time and info....now all I have to do is convert those temps to 'Merican....
  14. I'll do that...it has a management system and is set at no advance presently and has an internal rev limiter. Thanks, no hi jack issues at all.
  15. BTW, talked to Steve, seller and a very nice gent, and he will put the adj. seats in place and box/ship the squab seat so I'll have both. Also, he is running 92 Octane pump gas, without issues, so obviously the ratio is probably normal. Given the holidays probably get the car soon after Christmas...and Merry Christmas to ya'll and thanks for your help.
  16. Speaking of tires/wheels.... I find that the wheel nut torque is 55 Ft Lbs....seems a tad light to me but what do I know...for fun...the C8 Corvette is 140 ft. lbs.
  17. Thanks Carl.... I'll figure it out but appreciate everyone's input.... I will go with a higher aspect 16" tire tho as that is easy to do. The same make I am looking at makes them in 45/50/55 aspect. I will copy that guard too..... too bad the ind. making those steel welded jobbies quit doing so, those looked nuclear capable.
  18. Why the bench/squabs.... I suspect like you he wanted that look as he has the original adjustable seats too...he asked what I wanted so I will get both. I like the bench too, but my inseam is 31" so it would need fettling. Thanks for the specific measurement....
  19. Thanks, the author knows that too as he outlines all of the different models.... but he made a specific comment that the Vauxhall 2L 20XE 'should' have one tank of leaded every 4 tanks of normal unleaded 'if' using carbs...the twin DCOE's. I am guessing he is saying the top end, valve train, requires a bit more lube (lead) due to the heavier fuel washing effect of the carbs compared to the other fuel injected mode. Just a guess here.
  20. Off topic but have you tried POR15 black chassis paint..... just paint over that rust and no issues...I've used it on older car resto's when I wanted to save a floorboard etc. and it held up great.
  21. Thanks...I'll do something similar as I want to block off that whole area as I'll be running without a cam belt cover (can't use one with the aftermarket pully system from SBD) and want to keep dust/debris from contaminating the belt. Looks like an effective and simple solution....
  22. He has both the bench and the adjustable seats so I suspect, as he is taller, he like the bench
  23. Congrats...I'm catching up
  24. I sent Carl a msg.... but can you post a picture of your sump guard?
  25. Another question on the seating...car not arrived yet and I can get either the individual movable seats or the bench. I am 5'9" 180 lbs. Can I use the bench seat as is or will I need to 'choke up' a bit to heel/toe. I know the pedals are adjustable outward but that can make H/T more of an effort. Yes, I am going to put head pads on the bars.
