The forward belly pan...the why is the Vaux 2L has the exposed cam belt with the upgraded pully system and I live in Az on a dirt road in the country. I was worried about sucking dust up into that area. This looks a bit crude but works. Alloy forward from the nose cone back beyond the 1" cross brace. The plastic is 1/8 in and sleeves forward and can easily be removed for access to the oil filter. It is deep enough to give clearance to the fan belt and the pully. I've driven it on the dirt road and it does the job of keeping foreign matter out. The tape is simply to seal the edges as the plates are secured by clamps above. You can see the prior sump repaired damage..... I am going to a bit higher profile tires too.... the present ones look good but are 7 years old so it is time..... I may make a sump guard if not satisfied with the height change.

Overall, it was exactly what I was looking for. I've been a fan of older Brits sports cars but didn't want to deal with the antiquated systems and leaks....yeah, do they leak. However, I wanted the driving vibe. This feels like a Brit sports car but is 'modern' in the motor/drive train/brakes etc.... best of both worlds. I recently sold an AH 100/6 BN6 that was beautiful to look at but a pita to maintain....and even tho it had a motor rebuild it leaked...I mean leaked. Many of the gaskets today are made in China and they just don't do it. I wanted that raw driving experience but in a more modern scenario.... just what I wanted actually...and I'd never even seen one in the flesh, just took a chance. Every dog has its day

Had my first drive today after finishing the belly front pan and it was a blast..... really like the car and it handles nice and tight.... great fun. Glad I went this route. The temp stayed at 80/176 degree's so the work done doesn't seem to effect cooling..... another here told me it was hard to get the car to a proper temp with the Vaux 2L. but it was a cooler day 70 ish. This car might see a semi hood for the sun but will never see the full gear altho I have it.

States may very but in Az my 99 Caterham had a '67 Lotus title and that is what my new Az title will reflect....when getting collector Insurance I told the insurer it was a 99 Caterham but the title reflected something else.... they went with the '67 Lotus and a full agreed upon replacement price.... it was not an issue.

Made the intake screen today and the template for the forward belly pan ... the thin alloy will be here Sunday and this will cover beyond the sump when done....formable plastic will allow for lower areas by the oil filter and lower pulley.

Arrived today with 5 box's of spares...in fine shape...up on the rack checking everything out. Very pleased with the deal. Have to make a front belly pan to cover the underside to protect the exposed cam belt so that's my present project...that and a rock screen in the nose.

Brit cars are cult like...... Lucas Electrics/ the prince of darkness...what did Lucas Sr. tell his son on his death bed "Never drive at night', why do Brits drink warm beer...Lucas makes the refrigerators. ..... driving my 71 XKE in Columba's Ga at night on a dark back road.....I lost every light in and on the car.... headlights/rears and every dash light..... exciting. As to rain.... the Brit solution..... wrap a towel around your neck and drive so fast the rain goes over the windscreen and you.....

Yeah, very cool vid and informative/interesting.

I've had numerous Brit cars from back in the day. It always amused me that a country that has more rain than sunshine has always produced the worst weather protection extant. The designs always look like an afterthought and allow so much rain in that one needs a serious sense of humor. Triumphs, AH's specifically. Oh, and the windshield wipers...lmao... really, that's the high speed. Where I live in Az it will not be an issue and if anything I'll get the half top for a sunshade.

Enroute....with 5 box's of 'stuff'...the original nose cone/all weather gear and tonneau cover...extra steering wheel...the bench seats.... manuals: build manual and a Vauxhall motor manual, wind wings.... etc. should arrive in a few days. Two vehicle carrier. The box's were all tied down btw...this is during loading.

Thanks....no experience with that Vaux obviously but it looked like a solid lump from reading a bit. Honestly I'd rather have FI but I've dealt with Weber's before, and they were pretty easy to maintain.

Nice thanks...is that the Vaux 2l with wet sump...

Vauxhall 2l 20xe with the wet sump....

I'll see about the wheels...ground clearance is important where I live and I will build a sump shield. I'm shipping it in an enclosed trailer so the water issue should not be an event. What is the highest profile you can get on 13's with all season performance tires? driving as is for a while is always a good idea....I've not purchased any 'change' material yet except a steering wheel quick release. Good idea about the high light but I'll put that out back....doubt it will see night driving to be honest but the smaller LED lamps do look better to me.

Me too, ....when it arrives.... I like the older bench seat (I'll have both) but not sure if it would be a comfortable reach so Steve put the adjustable seats in place for me. We'll see on that.

Looking fwd to getting the 7...'99 build with about 18k on it. The seller, a great guy btw, just replaced the cam belt and water pump with new items and changed the oil/ coolant for me prior to shipping. It comes with the original nose, the bench seats, full weather gear, tonneau, side wind wings, two steering wheels and all of teh build books etc. Josh of Rocky Mtn is co ordinating the shipping with a company that ships all of his 7's. The brake fluid is good but not sure when/if the flex lines (braided stainless) were changed out....I will replace the foam pad in the sump...he changed it out a few years ago and said the one he took out was in good shape....btw, this is what the top end looked like when he set the cams. It has a mild cam upgrade so should push 200 bhp. Anything come to mind to address?

Very cool art imo..... imaginative and well done

I'll be using the same outfit..RAM...sometime after the 5th.... when Josh returns from his trip. I'm retired so I'll be happy if they arrive early.

Very timely as will be shipping a Cat 7 from Michigan to Az.

There are trade offs but I think I'll go that route for the additional height with the Vaux 2L wet sump....and an additional inch will help. The coilovers are not adjustable presently but will be. good suggestion. An increase in damping/ rebound would be wise I suspect..... wondered if anyone had gone that route of increasing sidewall for sump height and what their thoughts were on it.

Your thoughts on this. I am guessing the wheels are 7x16, that's what I have read so I hope that is correct. The 205/14r is 23.3 diameter and 8 " wide the 205/55r is 24.9 D and 8" wide a 215/55r is 25.3 and 8.4 " wide all will properly fit on a 16x7...the 215 will fit on a 6-7.5 rim The 215 will give a one inch height change but would need 1" of clearance around the wings (not the indy covers) and rear wheel arch. Do you see that as an issue? I doubt the .4 width change would cause any problem. Not concerned about the speedo error as that is easy to calculate. What do you think and do you see any issues with that 215? Road driven only.
