  1. True.... that would be an easy gig
  2. That's some time....I don't think I'd like the carbon after sitting in the Az sun tho. Talked to a guy in Denver who said they get very hot so that would not work here.
  3. Yeah, thanks, it is an option, and they can be locally sourced..... what do you consider a long drive in the 7
  4. I'd have to sit in one of those as I suspect that 'comfort' is relative to the individual....I'd like more padding I suspect and thigh support. The original Cat seats I have are great but a bit long in the tooth hence my search. Ind. seats not the bench. I did look and they are available in the States...but are rather expensive ...paying for the carbon, 1800 each or more before tax.
  5. There is also a Cobra importer in Florida so asked about the 7 fitting seats.
  6. I sent a note to Josh at Rocky Mt. Caterham's to see if he'd be interested in a group buy...we'll see.
  7. I've seen thos and would want the Cobra 7 sport that has the cut outs for a 4 point harness.... I could send Josh a note at Rocky Mtn to see if he'd be on boarrd. Roadster 7 Sport
  8. Presently my 26 year old Caterham cloth seats are doing ok but no idea for how long. I have the bench set up too but that won't work for me at 5'9".... I've noted seats are available in England but imagine the cost plus shipping would be huge. Are there any 16" base wide seats (tall racing type with integral and belt cut outs head rest) available in the US? I've seen tons of the proper type but all are too wide.
  9. I've used mine on cool days...works fine.
  10. I've had that 4 post since we built the house. Honestly the best tool I have. I have a high ceiling (purposely) in the garage for full extension with a car overhead.
  11. Have driven it daily and love this car. I will shortly pull the 2 DCOE 45's and go thru them even tho they run well....replace springs etc. and general cleaning. I also want new more robust mounts...the thicker alloy mounts with rubber O rings either side. I suspect a slight air leak in the front carb mount altho the plugs look acceptable. Because of the thicker mounts I went to thinner air filters.... .75 inches shorter as the mounts will add some and there isn't much clearance now when removing the hood. I replaced the 64 mm trumpets (a tad too tall for the original K&N filters imo) with 40 mm so have a solid inch of clearance to the filter cover. Took it for a quick run ( zip to 80 mph) as I live right off of Hwy 93 and did not note one bit of dif. idle remained the same too. Similar oiled filters. Much easier removing the hood (bonnet) but that wasn't the point really. I also replaced the original 4 point harness with an aftermarket one using a normal snap belt. I did not have to remove the seats...there is enough room to fettle. As the shoulder straps are connected to the lap belt much easier on/off and access. Those lower original lap belts don't get 'lost' under your butt. The Conex has plenty of work room as you can see. For the Vauxhall 2L 20 XE guys.... I have F16 emulsion tubes (I understand that is the norm for Cat 7 Weber's) but would think F2's would / should work with 500 cc's per cylinder...your thoughts? p.s. My house garage is basically full, I could put the 7 up on the lift but then access is an event.
  12. Hwy 93 in Az...in my area there are multiple round a bouts and it seems every day lately (drive the 7 a lot btw) I get an SUV trying to pass and stay with my in the circles. We are on the way to Las Vegas from Phx..... who knows.
  13. I swear, I get more gauntlet's thrown by Billy Bob in his SUV than anything.... trying to tip them over in roundabouts to stay up with the 7. Has that been classified as a mental issue yet?
  14. FYI...contacted Magnecor USA and they cannot provide the wires as they don't have the boots..... was told to purchase them OCONUS....
  15. Thanks, don't need the heat in Az
  16. That is a good recommendation but isn't the original glass thinner that US 1/4 in. I've read that and wonder about the fit.
  17. I know they are available in Blighty but the folks I contacted will not ship to the US (fragility). I tried a search but only the Brit comments referred to local purchase. Is there any source in the US? Mine is presently fine but in AZ (and I drive a great deal in the 7) it is simply a matter of time. e.g. took my older 911 to Phx to get a long-cracked screen replaced.... nice job.....got a rock on the way home with a 9 in. crack. Sweet. Called insurance and they told me not overly unusual.
  18. Had an issue with a bit, not much, of muffler/tail pipe, backfiring that is usually a lean condition. I know I am not lean so suspected something in the ignition system. I changed the plugs from the Denso Plats to NGK BCPR 7's and that seemed to fix the issue. Need the cooler plug with the 10.5-1 compression. Cooler day today but we'll see when it is hotter. Looking at the plugs I think # 1 was not working properly.... the residue was not the same as the others and the compression in that cylinder is excellent. I also lightened up that carb throat (idle) a tad that feeds that cylinder. Fun dialing this booger in. Had her up to 90 mph today, pulls great....90 mph in the 7 is like 150 in the Corvette. Same fun.
  19. I have the electronic ignition with a coil pack mounted where the dizzy was...thanks for the starting point.
  20. Looking for Magnecor or similar upgraded types available in the US by reference number....I've seen the ones available in England.... any crossover numbers?
  21. No, it's not...it is made for padding and oblong so the thick portion faces the driver/passenger.... oh, I see Caterham's flip every day here abouts .... but that's not my worry...a small shunt where you are launched into your straps and then rebound.
  22. Lol, I'm in Arizona in a small town about 70 miles from Phoenix.... nothing rusts here...nothing. One of my favorite things actually....
  23. Where did you source that pad Charles?
  24. Thanks gents. Bill I've seen that padding and it is hard itself, that is for use with a helmet I believe. I'm not sure about its ability to absorb shock unless wearing one. Still, better than steel. Charles, how hard is that padding you have?
