Thanks for the input..... you guys did the RTB conversion/dry sump on this car. I purchased it out of Washington State and the records came with it. Once I became familiar with the RTB's, sent a build instruction sheet...I've gotten them synced.

I've found the Toyo's to be very good tires...they seem pretty darn grippy around our round abouts at speed. There are 7 traffic circles between our house and town and all are 4 lane on HWY 93. When there is no traffic they are a good tire check.

Man, I hate salt...you can almost hear the rust forming. Winter is actually our best driving time.. Sept. thru May. I drive in the summer heat too but put the half hood on. I had an '83 911 I owned/worked on a few years back that had always been in the SW...never had a frozen bolt and no rust after 30 plus years.

Took the r400 out for a blat today. 70's/sunny just beautiful. I have this felony speeding route thru the desert where there is little to no traffic and you can see for miles. HWY 60 to Aguila and 71 cross over to 10. The 71 is thru BLM land and there are no houses/stops/cross over roads for miles and miles, desolate.. You can see for 10 miles in places. So, cruising at 90, drop a gear to 5th, and the damn thing jumps ahead like it's in first gear..... hits a ton like nothing. What fun. Pulled off for a pit stop and took a pic.

I see what you mean...

Looks fine but I'd go longer...I want to do away with the ear plugs altogether. Presently hang a set on the rear view mirror. 20/25 inches.... I may repack the original and give that a shot.

Nice fabrication work there....

Thanks Tim.... I like the look too as it is a bit unusual for 7's. Hopefully the car will be satisfied by this representation and won't want to demonstrate your description :)..... I need to buy a few more element stick extinguishers.....

She's alive. I replaced the ignition relay and the horn worked so just started pressing buttons...lights etc. and when I did the gauges did their swing and she started up. I'm not positive it was the relay perhaps it just needed some input from the dashboard sources but that is supposition. ECU reboot by hitting dif inputs? BTW, the ignition relay in this 2012 is obsolete but the replacement is RC-400112-nnbx I want to thank everyone that responded as they were all good suggestions and worth a look/try. More importantly the support one gets when flummoxed is really helpful. Thanks again.

Thanks...I will do as you've all noted. r400 2012 build with button dash, I'll get a pic of that and the fuses/relay's. This has the key switch and the button start. It does have the kill switch so I will investigate that as well.
-
Tomorrow I'll put the new relay in place and check for continuity at the ignition switch..... if anyone has any suggestions, I am open as I'm not an electrical guy at all. Rather think it is magic myself.

Ouch...many of the Walkers inlets are offset so that would allow you to clock the muffler higher than normal...that could alleviate that issue.
-
I was adjusting the rtb's and when finished put the electric system on to measure volts at the TPS...I believe I left the key in position 2 not 1. Got the volts set and tried to start an nothing...no fuel pump noise nada. No lights or swinging gauge indicators... like dead. The r400 does not have an immobilizer... I've always simply started with the key and nothing else.... I checked all of the fuses individually and all good... pulled the ignition relay and it looks good but ordered another to be certain. Any suggestions as I'm not electrically inclined.... battery is very good

Yes, but just pick a model number and do a search it will come up...

I kinda like it.... still have the 'prisoner' look front too. Drove both the other day and that 2L Vauxhall/DCOE 45's really pulls well...running really strong.
-
I know my fronts are not I'd have to pull the rears to know for sure.... regardless, that's where the issue is and hub centric or not it would still exist.
-
Not a great time to be pushing an ev. IMO a money black hole.
-
I don't think any Caterham wheels are...none that I've seen but I've only seen two.

Repost of similar comments. The Toyo's are not only a higher aspect tire but their sidewall profile is more pronounced/wider. On my 7 both fronts rubbed on the cycle fender struts. Slightly on the passenger side and heavily on the driver side. 1/8th in spacers were too little so went with 6mm. That did the trick. Bending the supports (they are stout) would have put the cover too far to the inside. Short of grinding where the tire rubbed or cutting and rewelding that's about it. No interference on the rears and the studs are too short (longer on the fronts) for the use of spacers unless you replaced them. For the 12x1.5 studs you need a minimum of 6.5 turns/rotations and there is more than that up front. Used a little lock tite too.

Thanks we've been looking at the same stuff.... the inlet is centered but offset...the outlet isn't really an issue. Ugly OEM in flat black isn't bad and I'm looking at the Walkers. An offset inlet on a 6 in wide would work to as it could be clocked and might eliminate that angled intake issue altogether. I use 'stovebright' paint for exhaust headers...works great.

Inlet pipe from header 2.1 in exterior. Entry and exit pipe centered. Overall length 27.5 in. Diameter 5"....circumference 16 approx.
-
I'll post some pics today...welded but I'll add the dimensions. It is the original from the build.

My Vaux 7 runs great but is loud...the muffler is on the driver side and the car has 19k miles on it (98 build)....ear plug loud. Can't locate a 7 source for them so has anyone found a suitable replacement or done repacking?
-
There is a bit of build up on the exterior of one barrel ... foam filters...of any type, let in more particulate matter than cellulose. Simply physics.... more airflow equates to less filtration, that includes nano filters or whatever name one wants to slap on them... Many use the foam as is...I will use a light exterior applied oil made for foam filters.

Drove both 7's today as the sun was out and 70's....alike but dif. The r400 accelerates like it is supercharged...that's the way it feels....almost has a kick in feel. The Vaux HPC/2 45 DCOE's winds out but nicely. I was going to sell the HPC but I like it too damned much.... it is sweet and running very strong...so I'll keep it too. Both are titled as 67 Lotus's so tags are cheap and Grundy does the agreed value and that is not expensive...so.... twofer. I will say the lowered floor on the r400 makes a great difference in wind turbulence...both are 3 bodies. In the HPC I am looking thru the top 1/4 of the windscreen and on the r400 right at the center (both have street seats). That Inch or more really is significant. This with doors on both of them....
