  1. Look Ma! No Hands! It took him ages to think of pulling the chute. m
  2. I reckon that the Xflow Cat is exerting it's bad Mojo on the newbie. :iamwithstupid: I would segregate them and get rid of the Cat, before it completely transfers its Psyche into the Newbie. :jester: m
  3. I went to your link. It would interrupt as described, but I was able to capture 59+ minutes of it, which is the total, but have not watched it yet. m
  4. No E30 M3...practically the Tintop equivalent of the 7. m
  5. Is that Tiger Woods driving? :leaving: m
  6. I feel your hunger. I would like an IRS Birkin or Cat with either a Zetec or Duratec. I'll have to stick with my Old Birkin unless the deal of a lifetime comes up. m
  7. Hmm. Maybe I should carry another fire extinguisher m

    Go for Launch

    Haven't you seen "The Matrix"? CGI.:jester: m
  9. An old battery is a potential weak link in the ignition chain, until it is tested. The coil involved in the no-spark event is equally suspect. Coils are usually long lived parts. I have only ever replaced one Bosch. It's all guesswork until the battery is load tested and the primary and secondary resistance specs of the coil are measured. m
  10. :jester: It's not a real car alongside them, so they don't see it. :jester: Maybe they're not driving. They're focused on how to make more $$?? m
  11. Did the gearbox have straight cut gears in it? Westies are available Over here as well. m
  12. You're missing the plot. This is not racing. It is supposed to be an affordable entry level activity using an automobile. Not everyone is willing to modify their 7 into a Non streetable trailer queen. Not everyone can be bothered to spend Thousands of dollars for three track(sorry, parking lot) sessions that last 90-130 seconds each. m
  13. I don't autox my Birkin due to the classing. My 125hp road legal, road tyred car against a gutted, 10" wide wheeled 250hp machine on slicks? I reckon not. I also ran into a similar problem with the Midwest Council of sports car clubs and their High speed autox. My Birkin was classed in superstock with Vettes, Gt3 Porsches, while the Caterham was classed in A stock with Mustangs and M3 E46 vintage. I use it for HPDEs with the Lotus Club and use an E30 M3 for BMW events as they don't allow open top cars to participate.. m
  14. Yep! It pays to have a 7th sense.:jester: m
  15. Dean. I had to cut it into 2 pads. One section for the seat of the pants, and a second section for lumbar supports. I don't suffer any aggravation of the back for 170 miles to the track, 30 miles of track activity, and the return trip. I used it as soon as the seat was installed. I have not used the seat without the pads so I cannot compare before/after. For me, the combo is more comfortable than the Vaders in the E36 M3. m
  16. Iowa. Is it... a Prowler? a Rolls Royce? Front wheel drive? (No it is not wrong wheel drive). a Real car, I mean you can drive it on the street?..Legally? ( I point to License plates) :svengo: m
  17. Very nice, Mike. Seats next? I have a chronic back condition. The Birkin seat was uncomfortable and had to be replaced. (ultrashield Rally seat with a *Backsaver* pad from Pegasus. m
  18. Jack. My Bonnet is almost 11 years old and has a dent from what was the outer threaded rod for securing the battery, and is yellow. Not much good to you. m
  19. As above for a Birkin.. Looking for a Nice bonnet for use with Side draft carbs or TBs or a template I can use to modify my intact bonnet. cheers. m
  20. My 10.5 year old Ultrashield Rally Sport 14" seat. Front bottom raised 1.5" and the Left side upper wing has been notched to clear the body. I have back saver padding under the cover. The spec Miata seats are easier to fit. m Btw, I would recommend that you obtain a higher roll bar. I have the standard one as pictured, but use a taller one from Birkin when I'm on the track.
  21. They need one for the Senator who is feeling the heat from his admission of posting lewd photos on the net. We're gonna have a Weiner Roast if he does not resign. m
  22. Saw you and the tail of your beastie on friday pm, Edgewood rd from HY-Vee access. m

    I'm 7-less :-(

You can't be feeling that badly. You still have a serious itch, No? m
  24. The engine is the 2.0 litre Zetec. There are 3 versions of this engine available in the USA. The engine first arrived in the US in the 1995 Ford Contour. 1995-early 1997 cars had the hydraulic valve followers. In the US it is called the ZX1. In Europe it was called the Zetec E or silvertop as it had a cam cover made of aluminum. In mid 1997, the hydraulic valvetrain was replaced by mechanical bits and the exhaust cam was fitted with an emmisions facility to alter the cam timing. This ZX2 variant has a black plastic cam cover and a sensor in the cover over cylinder #1. This engine can also be found in the Escort coupes in 1997 to at least 1999. The third variant is the ZX3 that is found in the ZX3 badged Ford Focus. There are a couple of warmer mechanical valve train Zetecs found in the Focus SVT and in the Escort ZR2. My Engine is the ZX1 and it used the Factory Ford contour engine management, fuel rail, injectors, intake manifold , and throttlebody. it had the OBD2 wiring removed. It ran fine with the engine at the factory static compression ratio of 9.6:1. It failed to run properly after I had the cylinder head shaved in order to raise the CR to 10.6:1. The ignition curve was no longer appropriate. Hence the switch to twin Weber DCOE 45s. and a Weber Alpha Ignition kit. The convoluted plastic factory intake manifold as fitted on the donor Ford Contour is reputed by European ford tuners to limit power due to its restrictive nature. It has a single throttle body. See here, (hopefully) for the English take of the Zetec...http://www.burtonpower.com/tuning-guides/tuning-guide-pages/ford-zetec-e-tuning-guide.html m
  25. I would check the static engine timing as well, plus fuel pressure and delivery specs. An air/fuel ratio monitor would be a good tool in order to find out whether the fueling remains too rich after warm up(coolant temp sensor failure) or too lean (insufficient fuel quantity/pressure). m
