I thought the Brits were going to upgrade Thrust II and give their own record another shot? I like Thrust II's approach better with the twin engines as opposed to a single cigar body. Either way 800mph on land is absolutely nuts. What is even more crazy is the world speed record on water: 317.596mph. Although Ken Warby is still alive many have died trying to beat it. Currently there are 3 boats being built that will try to break the record, and even Warby is building another boat.

I will be the Manager over the Applications Engineering department for a national instrument company. Basically, we take the orders from the customers and bring them to the production department. We have people skills! (horrible interpretation of the movie, The Office) Lots of opportunity. I see potential for Fanuc robots, lean manufacturing, ISO 9001, Six Sigma, cost savings galore, openings in the chain of command above me for higher pay, etc. Seems like a win win at the moment.

Thanks for the comments. I figured if I was much older and had false teeth the Busa would let me know when to shift. Since I'm a youngin' with a full set of teeth that don't rattle at 11,000 rpm I need gadgets to tell me when to shift.

I just purchased a sequential shift light for my MEGABUSA from Ecliptech: http://www.ecliptech.com.au $154 shipped http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b65/bushflyr/Shift-I%20install/IMG_3850.jpg Here is a typical installation with 2 videos of the finished product operating: http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/ecliptech_shift_sequential_shift-t8526.html?t=8526 I searched the USA7s site and quite a few members already have sequential shift lights. I saw a Nology unit in powderbrake's ride, a Digital Race Electronics unit in JohnCh's ride, and a slot machine in BobDrye's ride. My goal is to never take my eyes off the road and/or track. My FlatShifter paddle shift kit will be installed after I am certified road legal. The Ecliptech shift light will keep my eyes off the tachometer and the rev limiter. The final "eyes off" gadgets need to be warning lights for oil pressure, oil temp, and coolant temp. I currently have Autometer digital gauges for those, but I may need to swap out for a digital unit with peak hold/warning. Any recommendations?

Well, the good news is I accept an offer for a new job tomorrow. AND, I should have my header back from Jet Hot Coatings so I might be street legal soon! Then and only then can I drive my car to work.

You know it's spring when... the girls start showing their belly buttons! http://www.rufridr.com/images/bellybutton.jpg BAA AHHAHAHAH. D'oh!

Can you get the Speedcats in the mall at a store like Footlocker?

Love the color contrast on that car. The Bride seats look gorgeous. That cage looks strong.
-
I'm not starting a weigh in thread until all of the pieces are on the car and I weigh it. She better be under 1000 lb!
-
David, The total weight of the car, or just the cage? I don't know either.
-
Thanks for posting that article, John. That Caterham weighs 1344 lb (page 19). Seems a bit heavy for what it looks like. As a comparison, I don't like that the rear of my Megabusa has the bottom of the shocks in single shear. http://hanksmegabusa.com/images/113008/05.jpg

http://www.nhra.org/contacts/tech_faq.html A roll bar is required in any convertible running 13.49 seconds or quicker in the quarter mile, and in other cars beginning at 11.49. The roll bar is accepted in vehicles running as quick as 10.00 second e.t., provided the stock firewall and floorboard is intact, other than for installation of wheel tubs. The rollbar must be constructed of minimum 1 ¾ inch o.d. x .118 inch wall mild steel tubing, or 1 ¾ x .083 chrome moly tubing, and must conform to the following diagram: http://www.nhra.org/images/rollbar.gif If the floor and/or firewall has been modified, then a full roll cage is required beginning at a 10.99 e.t. A full roll cage is required in any vehicle running 9.99 seconds or quicker, and any vehicle running 135 mph or faster (regardless of e.t.). The roll cage must be constructed of minimum 1 5/8 o.d.x .118 mild steel tubing, or 1 5/8 x .083 chrome moly tubing, and must conform to the following diagram: http://www.nhra.org/images/rollcage.gif FWIW, I would think my rollcage would pass NHRA and IHRA certification. http://hanksmegabusa.com/images/120608/10.jpg

LMAO! Redneck DOD system.

I'm thinking take her straight to Nascar. Formula 1 would have taken her if she wouldn't have been caught.
-
Holy moly that's a big dog! What breed is it? I like most of the car, but without a complete rear shot I think the quadruple lights shown in the side shot are a little overboard IMHO. Is that paint color Lamborghini?

I cannot stand when a website forum makes you register to view damn pictures. Sorry for the rant, but that will hurt people being able to see it.

$1000 to clear shield my nosecone & hood? Ouch!

I ordered carbon mods rear arch protectors for the front half of each fender, and the remaining part of each arch will be covered in clear shield. -

Good news, I just talked a local rep into swapping clear shield paint protection for a website. No money out of pocket, and I get to advertise my car on his website for custom work. I'll post up the link when the website is done. FWIW, his quote was $900 (hood, nosecone, front cycle wings) before I talked him into a website. -
That's a very nice gauge pod. How much is something like that going to cost us Sheeple?
-
I would cover the entire sump too because you might hit an obstacle in reverse! Cheers.

Josh, Disregard the PM I sent you asking for pics of your new ride. I should have read the board before I opened my private messages. Looks great! I want to see video. Hank

Hank replied to Hank's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I'm definitely going to get a second quote on the clear shield as soon as I finish fitting the front cycle wings and minor body alignment this weekend. Damn this takes forever! But, the more time I take aligning the body the better it will look, right? -
So Thomas Smith, Technical Director and all, can spell Valvoline but he can't spell valvetrain and he wrote rpms? Fooey. Other than that article I haven't heard any negative press on Mobil 1 at all. Hell, maybe it's a conspiracy.

He is packing the power of 2-3 Se7ens so it only seems fair for him to add weight so the ratio stays the same.
