  1. Welcome! The answer is yes, it has been done. A gentleman on here named Mazda (aka slngsht) has a hotted up LS-1 in a Rotus chassis. and it weighs much less than 2000lbs, IIRC. Cue Mazda in 5...4...3...2...1... And then cue the BEC crowd in 10...9...8...
  2. I was thinking of tent camping, too. Nothing compares to the gawks you get driving into a spot and extracting a campsite from the boot of a Seven.
  3. Hate to see that. There's a guy over on BlatChat who built a beautiful Ferrari P3 (I think) replica a few years ago with a 348 or 355 engine. Second time out it developed a fuel leak and burned to the ground.
  4. Details, details...

    Lotus XI build

Um, can anyone *not* be a fan of the XI?
  7. I think a club grill or dash plaque would be kind of cool.
  8. Can't believe you posted that video. I came across that a couple of years ago when doing some work with high-energy batteries and was wracking my brain last night trying to remember where I found it so I could post it here. Glad you put it up.
  9. Hi Tom, I found the document soft copy. Happy to email it if you PM your address. Same goes for anyone else who'd like it. I think the primary benefit is that you are assured that though the coolant may expand as heated, it remains in the cooling system. With the conventional overflow bottle, any coolant that escapes as the temp/pressure rise in the cooling system may not be effectively sucked back in as the system cools.
  10. I wonder what chemistry they're using. A number of the high energy density chemistries (in particular Li-based, IIRC) do not enjoy being smashed, punctured, etc and can actually become thermally unstable if abused too much. I believe some of the modern variations are less susceptible, but I'd hope they considered this before placing the batteries where they may be exposed to the odd curbing, etc.
  11. Many xflow installations (including mine) have a simple overflow bottle arrangement as you describe it. However, conventional wisdom (at least among the BlatChat crowd) is that converting to a true expansion tank arrangement is a worthwhile upgrade. A common approach in the UK is to use the expansion tank from an XR2 Fiesta or VW Polo and mount it right in front of the pax side firewall. I have a hard copy document somewhere describing one approach with pictures. I had it as a softcopy, but not sure if I still do unless its hiding in my Gmail somewhere. I'll have a look and send it if I can find it. Alternatively, I can see about having my hardcopy scanned sometime this weekend. Dave

  13. I'll be there if I can make it. :7head:
  14. Red Green is great! Used to watch it all the time when I lived up there in Canuckistan for a while. How can you argue with pearls of wisdom like, "If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy"?
  15. Actually, I suppose Mazda may have an additional category too: More Pixels
  16. Which generally fall into one of three categories: More Power More Grip Less Weight. :jester:
  17. I was at Mid-Ohio that weekend. As it happens, after spending most of the day to that point right there in the Esses, I'd made my way over to the Carousel and so I didn't see the incident live. Spoke to a number of people who had, though, and they all had their eyes bugging out of their heads.
  18. You may be right, Mazda. On the other hand I'm not sure that a) Joe and Jane Prospective Jaguar Buyer will even be aware of the sale unless they work on Wall St., or b) Jaguar being bought by an Indian company will be significantly more traumatic to it's image than having been bought by Ford several years ago.
  19. Tata's actually a pretty big company. Don't know alot about them, but I believe they do quite a bit of heavy industry stuff in addition to automotive. They also sponsor the Williams F1 team. :hurray:
  20. Looks as though 7/7/7 did a really nice job to bolster club awareness and participation. Nice job.
  21. This one cracked me up, though I think it's a spoof ad as opposed to a real one. Office safe except for a couple of appearances by the S-word. http://www.adbakery.com/video/video/show?id=803531%3AVideo%3A1722
  22. Came across this listing over at www.race-cars.com. http://www.race-cars.com/carsales/other/1198458826/1198458826ss.htm Looks nice. Wish I had an extra $20k and garage space lying around.
  23. Hmmm.... Perhaps I need to change my handle to elfflow7 :jester:
  24. They're not the ones with the problem. The peope with the problem are those who happen to be underneath it when it gains enough altitude that the balloons start to pop.
  25. Thanks for the help everyone. As it turns out I managed to arrange things so that I no longer need to take my car in today. But useful to know that a U-Haul is probably do-able in the future if need be.
