Yes it is! The hotel is attached to a large shopping mall so there will be the typical mall food. I tasted my first and only Chick-fil-A at LOG 24. If you want to eat well and inexpensively consider the picnic option. If someone who is driving a more spacious (like a Landcruiser - hint hint) volunteered, a USA7s picnic committee could be formed. Birmingham BBQ, yum! We signed up for all the meals. It is very convenient for what will be an extremely busy schedule for us. We will only have to scrounge for breakfast on a recurring basis. Much of the planning for dining is ad hoc. There will definitely be groups forming for Monday night dinner. Our plans are still unsettled. We may arrive in Birmingham as early Tuesday as we still haven't seen most of the tourist sites.

What kind of Quack Dr puts a restriction on fun?

From the posts I have been able to see 19 folks have committed to LOG 29. Not a bad number of early birds. Al Navarro, monster? bball7754 BobDrye Boxologist, "Snake Bit" 7 SV breezy7 DeanG, 1958 Lotus Seven series 1 Flibbie, Stalker Hudson, VX7 Ian7 powderbrake, Ultralite S2K rich, RDROCKT, Ultralinte S2K & XR7 S1Steve, S1 scannon, slngsht solder_guy, Toyota Rotus Seven sparecr, 78 Caterham Twin Cam Taber10, 2007 Caterham 7 SV yellowss7, 2000 Superlight #123 As I believe I posted earlier we (my wife and I) will be at just about every event from the go-cart through track. We look forward to seeing many of the people from the Dragon there.

I believe I looked at the car 3 or 4 years ago. If this is the same car it was Fiat based. Many of the parts that were on it are now gone. It looks rougher than I remember. That is what a few years outside will do for a frame.
-
Mick; If nobody gives you a better offer you can drive our series 1. Do you care if it is RHD?

Lotus: XI, 18, 51 yum. I need a big lotto hit!
-
Cool. Now what we need are solid models of the Lotus Seven S1, S2, S3, Caterham, Birkin and Lotus XI frames so we can compare them:lol:
-
Ohhhhh, Westfield 11. That is a car that is near the top of my want it list. If I had the extra cash and some more garage space I would be tempted to go looking for one.

I spent a delightful couple of hours following the NZ links. I especially liked www.trademe.co.nz where there are lots of interesting things being flogged.
-
I would love to see the 4 wheeler.

What a great ad campaign! Ultralite - The Monster truck of Se7ens! I can foresee a flood of rednecks joining the ranks of Se7en owners. :jester:

Now that's interesting. It's a shame they chose a HD engine with seemingly better V twin engines available. A S&S or even cooler a Guzzi. Is it an automatic or just an ugly sequential shifter?

I suggest a get together breakfast on either Friday or Saturday. Friday has more open time for those who will be around and who are not taking the scenic rout to Talladega. On Saturday there will be more folks around however the Departure Staging for Concours starts at 8:00 AM.

Clear plastic tape, formerly known as helicopter tape. It even came standard on my 2000 Ford ranger. It still looks good on a truck that doesn't get much cosmetic care.

Good to have you back! Looking forward to seeing you at LOG. Hopefully there will be a good turnout of the folks who attended the 50th anniversary Tail of the Dragon event. We are tentatively planning to go back to the Dragon after LOG. That should put us at Tapco Lodge on Tuesday night leaving Wednesday to drive the dragon with our 7 (Without all those fat, slow, cruiser riders in the way - it was very disheartening having to slow down for those guys while pulling a trailer). We can then start for home on Thursday.

I did not mean that Se7ens get their own run group, but that open cars and full convertibles can run I had previously spoken with Jim Roberts the track day coordinator and he indicated that my Seven would be OK for the track. I would contact him if you had any specific questions.

A totally revised LOG 29 is up. There is updated information on the schedule, drives, track events... To many of us the big news is that there will be: :7fume: a track day run group for open cars:hurray: That means that our Seven can drive Barber :jonautox: a Se7ens only autocross group :7head: several driving tours Note that there is a lot of information "hidden" in the various web pages. A through read will pay dividens

Two of us for LOG. We were planning on going to LOG anyway. We were probably not going to the independent USA7s event.

The latest and greatest LOG forms have been posted on LotusTalk, there is currently a problem with updating the LOG 29 web site. LotusTalk LOG 29 web site notes The zip contains the registration forms: * General Registration * Autocross Registration * Track Registration (think high performance driving education) * Technical Inspection form for Autocross and on-track events Be prepared for some possible news about the on-track that may be of special interest to those who drive Se7ens!

ATTENTION-MAJOR UPDATE FOR 2009 EVENT!!!

The only prices that I find grating are those for the hotel meals. We are signing up for everything but the driving portion of the track day. This will be our big vacation of the year so we splurge. If anyone wants to economize consider: * Packing a lunch for the Saturday concourse and Monday track day * Not interested in Mercedes Benz, Talladega..., skip those parts * Scout out a breakfast place that is close by but doesn't charge hotel prices (there are usually a bunch of people trying to do that however the hotel restaurant is a good place to button hole some of the Lotus factory people or special guests) * Skip the alluring trinkets * Find an alternate hotel (with so many of the activities planned for the Barber Motorsport Park options are probably available) * Share a room (It isn't uncommon) this site and LotusTalk would be good places to set this up. Don't miss: * If you autocross (or want to start) there is no better place to see similar cars run and talk to people genuinely interested in helping you out with tips... * Interested in driving? The car control clinic's price can't be beat. * Barber museum, included in registration fee * The Saturday evening dinner (admittedly some people find it boring). That is where the celebrities speak and the big news and subtle hints are usually dropped (link the supercharged Evora). Don't forget to bring things to be autographed. At past LOGs I had books signed by the author and by the subjects (e.g., Dan Gurney). -

Reserved my hotel room today :hurray: -
I put down a 2 part epoxy in our shed 1 month after the floor was pored. I haven't had any problems over the last 2+ years. Clean up of oil... is fast and easy. No hot tires have ever set foot on the floor however. Be aware that I was expecting the epoxy do do a much better job of filling in and leveling than it did. I had visions of a mirror smooth floor. It is far from mirror smooth. The best part is that there is much less dust and dirt accumulation. Secondly it is more slick than bare concrete allowing me to move more easily when I am doing any work that requires lying down on the job. I will be doing the garage floor this summer and will probably be using the same stuff, the lower grade epoxy from Sherwin Williams.

Post your FAVORITE PHOTO of your 7.

Some good pictures of nice cars. This was taken at the Indianapolis Lotus Owners Gathering autocross (LOG 28). I am very happy to report that I didn't have the slowest time! I like this photo because of the reflections on the polished aluminum and the obvious weight transfer. I do look a bit grim and I am disappointed with how my self painted helmet looks but maybe I will try another paint scheme this year. The photo was taken by a professional who then sells the resutlts www.jwwphotos.com I expect that the photographer holds the copyright. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/180424867_LOG28autox7_01.jpg -
Congratulation! Please keep John Watson informed on what is going on with the car. The histories of these cars is very important to many people. Good Luck
