  1. or... save the windshield frame and find an independent glass shopt to cut & reassemble with laminated glass. you loose defrost but so far works good as new.
  2. Caterham & Birkin are likely different here. For the latter I have motorcycle mirrors.
  3. Sadly… having seen that I did not register. Are you still going?
  4. Croc. He claims to have been up all night with [important business]; which is worth something. Yours truly bundled up with 2 sets of thermals & jackets & ridiculous hat. Headed west to Litchfield & Berkshire counties. Ducking over the border into NY past Bash Bish falls rd. Cloudy but a good drive. As for Vlad. I’ll be in the area in Tuesday after next if you want to try again?
  5. I think I’ll see how the forecast looks before registering mid-week.
  6. Weather is still nice up here & Vlad moved mountains to get his car running.. is anyone up for a drive in berkshires/northern Hudson valley/Albany/Vermont area tomorrow?
  7. I’ve already taken the weekend off work. So why not, I’m still in & need my yearly dose of Lightning. 🏎
  8. What size/year chassis do you have? I squeezed a tillett B6 into my S3 narrow body Birkin and love it. Well work the expense for comfortable driving and preventing lateral body motion during autoX and trackday. It ‘fits’…. with a little fettling.
  9. Fantastic news!!! Now if the weather will cooperate (or I’ll bring my PFD) next weekend.
  10. Impressive memory Croc! Yes I have a 2.0 Duratec with Haltech ecu & loom. My vote would be to chuck it and put in a Duratec, ITB(or whatever fits) and new ECU (whatever works: Tom has been using Typhoon’s for a few years with few complaints). During my last gremlin infection I seriously contemplated upgrading ECU & Loom. For better or worse I was able to fix/re-wire the fault. Somewhere there is a breakpoint beyond which we need to start fresh. (Which is why I keep a spare longblock in my shed). p.
  11. A little late to the party here: my car has a kubota tractor/forklift alternator... If yours has a similar provenance that would explain difficulty searchign for one. Another consieration is to find an alternator repair shop. They may be able to rebuild your existing one.
  12. I’m happy with my odyssey battery (replaced once, but abused by a faulty starter & alternator). One friend is a big fan of braille batteries which are even smaller & lighter. it is helpful to have a local supplier with your chosen model in stock. This saved me on my last replacement the day before an AutoX.
  13. Iirc. I’ve seen pics of a plate cut down (top/bottom) trimmed to fit on bottom edge of Nosecone. Another bent the plate around bottom of nosecone. Croc’s version is easier.
  14. B6 (40cm) - be forewarned it Barely fits my narrow body. But it fits. Since I never have passengers I kept my fiberglass Birkin sport seat for passenger
  15. Tom in Colorado is very helpful. I ordered a Tillett seat from him and LOVE it. despite the thin padding it is comfortabel even for 5hr drives.
  16. What frame/vintage are you looking for? Fwiw- my windscreen took a rock & needed replacement. I managed to find an independent glass shop who replaced the laminated glass reusing the frame. granted if you’re going from brooklands back to a windshield this won’t help much p.
  17. Leave the kids at home & bring Larry.
  18. I don’t know if “EDIS Module” is same as the Haltech “ignition module”… what you’re describing sounds similar to mine dying a few years ago. much searching and one MacGyver’d Noid Light at midnight, and a few tech support headaches: I replaced it & problem solved. I also learned it’s a Bosch unit that interchanges to a 25$ VW part.
  19. If weather is favorable I hope to have several days with the seven in Vermont next month. Beyond: AppGap. Rt100, bread loaf, smugglers notch. Lincoln gap, Hero island & the Ben & Jerry’s tour, what good (must drive) roads am I missing? - other than every beautiful dirt road that doesn’t end in a logging track. p.

  20. Are they requiring Hans? For slow drivers like me? I recall last year conflicting tech forms indicating Hans was required or recommended/optional.
  21. Tom What are this year’s track/tech quirks? Harness in date & arm restraints of course. Should we look out for Brake pad measurements? Tire dates? Hans?
  22. Fwiw: my oil temp was getting to 230+ I added a Setrab cooler: Both water & oil temp are now stable at their set points. Discussion is here:
  23. Intermittent spark/wire fault? I had similar issue once with a frayed/worn wire going into ignition coil
