  1. Does Aluma make that or did you add the enclosure over their standard open trailer?
  2. We have a winner!!!! I'll pm you with more shoot info.
  3. We used the pink pig colour scheme on our E30 Lemons car. We then ended up pitting next to Reinhold Joests former mechanic who said that Joest would have loved to see our car. Joest was the guy who crashed the Pig at Le Mans when he ran out of brakes. http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4092/4975593413_191e565778.jpg
  4. jim_rankin on the forum has Team Dynamics wheels on his Ultralite as well so you may want to get in touch with him as well. I do know that he had to wait something like 6 months to get them despite originally being told 6 weeks
  5. The Golden Gate Lotus Club is shooting a video at Infineon Raceway (aka Sears Point, Race Sonoma) on May 20 and we need a Seven to participate in it. The car does not need to be running as it will be parked at one spot for the video with owner standing by it. We would ideally like a car that looks along the lines of an original Seven - a Caterham, Westfield, Birkin, etc... would be great. The shoot wil start at 10 am and go till around 1. Lunch will be provided and you will get to check out the other cars including the ex-Andretti Lotus-77 F1 car that was used in the filming of Rush. The shoot is going to be at the workshop where the Lotus 77 is held so there will be a lot of vintage F1 machinery to ogle at. You can see some examples of our past videos at http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCezpS8OVFywFTKuhB3GQvGQ Please post here or PM me if you'd like to participate or have any questions. P.S.: Posted in general section to get more eyeballs
  6. Reg is typically one month before the event though this one might be a bit earlier as the West Coast Lotus Meet is in Seattle from July 4-7.
  7. I was in a grey Elise with gold wheels. My Seven does not pass sound at Laguna but I will be driving it at both Sears and Thunderhill.
  8. Were you the other Seven pitted by Dave L's Birkin at the last GGLC Laguna day? I will be at the Aug 3 GGLC event at Sears. We also have one at Thunderhill on May 29th
  9. Coverage of event 2 - watch till the end for some good stuff.
  10. The Golden Gate Lotus Club is now going to regularly be producing videos at events and I figure it will be good to have a single thread for them This next video is from our Laguna Seca track day last week and while it is a bit light on Sevens if does have Jim Rankin in his Ultralite and the wheel shots are from my Elise (My Seven does not pass sound). This next video is from an older Autocross event and the Ultralite you see there is mine.
  11. I always wear a helmet as the wheels can kick up little pebbles. At the very least I would wear ballistic glasses to protect the eyes. The Elise is a definitely in between the Cayman and the Seven in terms of rawness but as a result it is also much more livable. I personally wouldnt trust a valet both in terms of joy riding plus to be able to handle a high hp Seven. Also many of our cars have odd starting procedures depending on who built them - mine has no key and you have the steering wheel off to get in and out. Collector car insurance like Hagerty is significantly cheaper that regular insurance but you must have another car as your daily driver.
  12. +1. I didnt notice the lack of a garage in the first post.
  13. Very cool. One of our Golden Gate Lotus Club members is driving as Mario Andretti in his Lotus 77 as well.
  14. I'd suggest trying some of the other Sevens as well (Ultralite, Stalker, etc...) as they all have very different personalities. I wouldn't worry too much about a roof - there are 4 Ultralites in the Bay Area and none of us have roofs and 3 of us run brooklands screens. PM me if you'd like to get a ride in the my Ultralite any time. Finding a reliable person to work on the Seven can be hard and after a few years I have basically given up on going to people for work and do as much of it myself as possible. Plus jim_rankin on this forum lives 15 minutes away from my house and as a fellow Ultralite owner has helped me out with many fixes As for the Elise it is significantly different to the Cayman and I know 3 people that either owned both simultaneously or switched to the Elise from a Cayman. Much more of a momentum car that the Cayman and much rawer. You can easily use it every day if needed and I have put 67k miles on mine as a daily driver. There are also two excellent independant mechanics here who work on Elises which will make maintenance very easy.
  15. Has anyone tried fitting a vr6 the Ultralite? The latest gen puts out 300 bhp and 250 lb/ft
  16. We could create a poll with each major brand/model (eg: S2 Lotus, Caterham CSR, Birkin, etc...) as an option. It would mean that folks with multiple could only get one but I'd think that it would be a relatively uncommon case and they can always comment on the poll to tell us what the second car is.
  17. No vision issues at all - you'd have to turn you head 90+ degrees to have it affect you and a HANS will not let you do that. I havent had any issues on the street either.
  18. Pics below - I am 6'1" myself. I'm not sure what you mean by seat-to eye measurement but you can find the data seat for sheet here: http://www.hrpworld.com/client_images/ecommerce/client_39/cat_header/1007_1.pdf If there is something in particular you need just let me know. http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4019/4678678203_4b28b610f7.jpg http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4031/4678667123_f3cb76a7c6.jpg http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4042/4678661309_d90267d2c1.jpg
  19. I am very happy with the OMP Pista in my Ultralite. I prefer composite seats over metal ones for their out-of-the-box comfort as well as the certification. http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4039/4475515576_1ff20ee34a.jpg You can see more about my seat setup at http://www.rahulnair.net/blog/2010/04/01/setting-up-a-seven-safety/
  20. I stand corrected - just looked up the rules and only HPDE requires SA. That said if you are driving a car with a roll bar (which most 7's have) you probably want an SA helmet which has been tested for multiple rollbar impacts. http://www.smf.org/helmetfaq#aSAMKdiff
  21. Yes. Technically most clubs should not be allowing you to autocross in an M helmet anyway.
  22. i'd recommend getting a helmet from one of the known brands as they will tend be longer lasting and more comfortable. Saferacer.com has a good selection starting from I personally have been using an HJC Si-12 for 7 odd years (250+ hours) and really like it. When you wear them for stuff like endurance racing or karting the saved weight really does make a difference.
  23. Well to be honest he did warn me that he was going to be screaming for comedic effect the whole time
  24. Follows on from the Truth in 50 seconds videos from last year. The Ultralite he rides in is mine. I ended up hitting a cone near the start and since the camera was still rolling on a ruined lap I gave it some extra tail out action after that.
