  1. Burnout vid? :-)
  2. You might find that its quite a bit slower :-) My Seven is the "fastest" car I own but with the tiny fuel tank, noise and vibration I find that I stop much more frequently (~100 miles) which makes it also the slowest car that I own. When I drove SF-Seattle it took me ~13 hours to cover just 600 miles on day 1. In comparison when I drove the Elise I made the entire 800 mile trip in less than 12 hrs. Either way you'll have a fun trip and will really know the car well by the time you get home
  3. AAA membership, impact rated sunglasses, lots of sunscreen, dont trust the gas gauge esp initially. If its really hot I'd suggest a cool suit but that is something that needs planning.
  4. Just the enclosed wheels and suspension alone will create massively better aerodynamics. It may have slightly greater frontal area than a Seven but its coefficient of drag will be miles better.
  5. Looks like the Aston CC100 concept but much uglier http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2810/9813354654_7f736179d0.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7311/9467846137_9f175f4721.jpg
  6. A previous owner put very large shocks on my car and the left rear spring did originally touch the drive shaft at high load right handers. We were running the track in a new configuration and I attributed the resulting high speed jerk to a bad bump and only realised the problem when I got home. The point of this being that you will see wear marks on the driveshaft if there is interference and from experience I can say that minor rubbing did not cause the specific failure Jim had.
  7. How long are the spacers on your car? Jim said his were 3-4 inches in length while rss and I also have different lengths.
  8. Does your "long bolt" have a spacer as well? Mine has a ~1 inch long spacer on it though I dont see how that would reuce chances of failure. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7421/9753040601_78efac1cae.jpg
  9. An older video about the Delta Wing and why its design is so different
  10. Are you local to the Bay Area? If so you should join us for the 7s picnic in Los Gatos on the 21st.
  11. If you are looking for an original 7 check out this one in OR being sold by a GGLC member. Sounds like a better value for a similar price: http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsforsale/lotus/super_seven/1592767.html
  12. You also have multiple Sevens showing up to almost every GGLC (http://gglotus.org/) Autocross and track day. I know there will be at least two of us at the Thunderhill track day next thursday (12th) Also if you want to check out a build in progress both DietschWerks (http://www.dietschwerks.com/) and Kampena (http://www.kampena.com/) are currently building CSR 260s for customers.
  13. Videos 4 & 5
  14. Dont seem all that small to me http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8463/8103188700_c86351e09a.jpg
  15. Wikipedia requires citations for authenticity but we dont have to have them. We'd only have to worry about authenticity if we have issues with vandalism etc. We could also uses links back to the original source (Romans thread, my blog, etc...) if available. You can always print the wiki pages and/or see them on a phone/tablet.
  16. The (62?) S2 in the middle of this pic belongs a woman who has owned it since at least the early 90s http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3668/9217685732_4e58ed6127.jpg And this Caterham is shared equally by a couple http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3685/9552741652_d1e99211ac.jpg
  17. It would be a good idea to have a single doc. Maybe make a wiki - either host it on the WCM site or I could host it on my server. In the meantime I've been documenting my stuff (diff brace, fuel cell, brake bias, etc...) on my blog: http://www.rahulnair.net/blog/tag/setting-up-a-seven/
  18. I was wondering why it was taking you so long to do the mirror - didnt realize it was a full scale engineering solution. If it works at the next Thunderhill day I may just copy it :-)
  19. Where are you located? You might be able to find a local owner to try fitting into the car
  20. I wear size 13s and can operate both my WCM Ultralite and a Caterham SV in racing shoes (I prefer Oakleys, Pilotis were a little too wide). No chance in sneakers though. Never tried an S1 or a Cat S3 (my knees dont fit under the dash). You can often move the pedals further apart as well. How tall are you? If the S1 pedals move then you will have less room further down in the pedal box.
  21. Latest T-shirt on Blipshift: http://blipshift.com/products/overcooked 7s connection - the creator is a forum member and the Caterham dealer in San Diego
  22. I think you need mudflaps now
  23. I recently drove the Seven from SF to Seattle and back (http://www.rahulnair.net/blog/2013/07/14/setting-up-a-seven-roadtrip-to-wlcm-2013/) and would strongly recommend the coastal route over I-5. It is both more interesting and a lot cooler. If you make it down to SF we should have a dinner/get together with the local Seven owners.
  24. AAA Premier coverage includes 1 tow for up to 200 miles and 3 others of 100. You could theoretically chain calls together and get 500 miles out of that. Extra miles have a set cost per mile. You can also get in touch with local Seven and/or Lotus owners who will be happy to help if you have any issues. Once you decide a route and dates we should be able to get you some local contacts.
  25. Just replied to your post in the other thread: Helmets are good sense especially if your car has brooklands screens instead of a windshield. There is enough crap kicked off both our own tires and the cars in front that I drive with a lightweight full face racing helmet 99% of the time. For the few short neighbourhood trips (
