This would be the perfect Seven trailer and you could easily pull it behind a station wagon or small crossover.
-
Or enter through the side door and step over the 15 inch front wheel

Since Jim cant live without his welder we did actually use it to create a mount to hold the airbox. Re-used the airbox from my Elise (same part as an 05 Matrix) along with a 90 degree silicone elbow. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7147/6840181421_49b1e40eba.jpg Untitled by rnair, on Flickr

I have a Hushpower muffler on my car and was still over sound at Laguna (94db when 92 is max allowed) though I believe that it was primarily due to the intake side. Jim Rankin and I have made a couple of airboxes for the cars and will hopefully get to try them out on the 21st. Will report in after the event.

I havent done Buttonwillow after putting in the fuel cell (had a surge tank last time) but I have done a few event at Thuderhill and had no issues (shorter sweepers though). As for the bolts and the front mount I assume that as the first S2K prototype car mine had a lot of things that sounded like good ideas at the time but have hopefully been changed on the later cars.

Fellow Elise owner here - there are at least 3 other folks on here who have the Seven and Elise combo so its actually quite common. This is what I wrote about my seven after I first got it A few questions/comments for you: 1) Are you sure you want a Caterham or will any Seven clone do? Prices and spec level will vary widely based on the answer to that question 2) Have you ever sat in or driven a Caterham? They can be extremely tight - I literally could not get my feet under the dash of an R500 and at 6' 1" I'm not the largest guy in the world. I'd suggest you sit in a variety of Sevens to get a feel for what fits you best. 3) Sevens are a whole new level of impracticality compared to the Elise. I daily drive my Elise but take the Seven out only for autox, track and the occasional weekend drive. Factor that in when thinking of how often you will drive it. 4) Sevens are incredibly modifiable which makes it hard to compare cars. Unlike the Elise which is pretty well designed as a one-size-fits-all package, Sevens are infinitely adjustable and all owners make their cars their own.

I also fixed my brake bias issues which were causing the rear to porpoise under hard braking. http://www.rahulnair.net/blog/2012/02/03/brake-bias-issues/ Upcoming editions will describe a sound fix to run at Laguna Seca (hopefully) as well as a long drawn out engine rebuild.

That was it

After 18 months I finally got around to describing the differential issues I had at Buttonwillow. Made an alarming fuel tank discovery along the way as well. http://www.rahulnair.net/blog/2012/02/02/difficult-times/
-
Assuming equal rotors and calipers I would want the 5/8th on the front and 3/4 on the rear. My ultralite came with equal setups front to rear and terrible rear lockup issues until I went to a larger rear MC.

When I choose between washing and driving I'll take driving every time. Plus you can only see the dirt while standing still :driving:

The previous owner of my Ultralite made an external surge tank that worked quite well (documented at http://members.rennlist.com/tweedt/s2k.htm). I have since removed it after going to a full-on fuel cell but it is another option for folks who dont want to spend the full $239

New member, want to build a Birkin - any advise?
rnr replied to joshesh's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I remember it being more along the lines of you doing all the real work (welding, cutting, etc...) while all I did was push the car around the garage and take it on and off the jacks. Not that I'm complaining Best of luck with the purchase and if you do get it sorted before Feb you should try and make it to the GGLC event at Laguna on the 21st. -
The universal mount was one of the several mounts that came in mine. The only other mount I use is the flat surface mount on my helmet and that has no play either. If all your mounts are having issues then it might be a case of the camera unit itself being out of spec.
-
I use the universal mount adapter and there is zero play: http://contour.com/products/universal-mount-adapter

I have the older Contour HD and am a fan. I use the camera mount onto my rollcage and get pretty stable video. The following is from the reigning DSP champion driving my Ultralite

I dont know the dimension differences which is why I suggest you sit in one first. Loren (WestTexasS2K in this thread) owns the Ultralite brand and is the person you should talk to about a kit. I can tell you that the Ultralite is significantly larger than the Caterham. I cannot get my knees under the R500 dash but have plenty of room in the Ultralite. -

Please sit in a Birkin and make sure you fit before you take the plunge. There are enough variants of Caterham that you really want to make sure you fit before you put down any $$$. If you'd like to try out an Ultralite for size I'd be happy to give you a ride in Mine if you are ever up in Daly City. Finally CA registration is actually quite easy now and there were apparently 40 unused SPCNS numbers in 2011. -
I recorder this 50 min Q&A session with the director at SF Premiere. He talks about how the movie came together including the process of shooting a movie with only archival footage, getting access to Bernies archive, showing the movie to the Senna family, extended footage in the DVD/Blu-Ray, writing the music before making the movie, etc...

I use the ContourHD (the video I posted earlier was from the HD version) and really like it. The newer versions do have the option for external mics as well. I do have to say that Chasecam has one of the best fit it and forget it video setups in the business. You can even set them to automatically start recording with the ignition and/or car motion. They are $$$ though which is why I went with the Contour.

I use a Racetech DL1 ([/url]http://www.race-technology.com/dl1_8_936.html) which at the time I bought it had the best analysis software by far. I use Chasecam dashware to overlay the data on the video Traqmate is other data logging setup that is poplar in the Norcal track day folks: http://store.traqmate.com/ I would recommend downloading the sw from each one and playing around with some sample data to see which one you prefer. If you just want video with data overlaid on it I'd suggest the Chasecam DIVA setup: http://www.chasecam.com/ or the Aim Smartycam: http://www.smartycam.com/on-board-camera.htm

There is a Corvette Driving school at Spring Mountain Motorsports which is an excellent road course about an hour outside Vegas. http://www.springmountainmotorsports.com/driving-schools The also used to have an Elise driving school at the track so you may want to inquire if you can do that instead. I drove my Elise there a few months ago and had a blast - their instructors are quite good as well.

Equivalent of a motorcycle with sidecar. I believe most states will let them into the carpool lane as well.

That would explain the ACE 11 numberplate and why it looked much cleaner than the average Morgan version http://cycle-car.com/

Driving down 101 yesterday.
