    That wasn't a hole shot...that was Fast Eddie!!! :auto: . . . .
  2. . . . . . really? :toetap05: Suave sneaked in here and read the post. Now his feelings are hurt and he's all worked up. How am I supposed to deal with that? I mean, look what he did to your post before I grabbed the keyboard from beneath his tiny little orange beak.

Two big thumbs up, Eddie! You're an inspiration...and still "Fast Eddie"! :flag::cheers:
  5. Watch the trailer...it's shorter........:lurk:
  6. Ditto on Roger Kraus. All Avon tires I've ever purchased were through him.
  7. Stewart, Glad to see a smile...too bad about the whisky. :jester: In the days to come, if you want to chat and garnish some support from someone who was feeling your pain this time last year, please reach out. My family and I wish you the very best during the days to come. Shane
  8. A dyslexic walks into a bra and yells "Bad spellers of the world...UNTIE!" Y'all better be laugh'n.
  9. John, Another Richfield link, but this references the part with photo: http://speedograph-richfield.com/html/rgb1030.html
  10. . . . . . :smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5: Yes, yes, yes!
  11. No spamming going on, but with idleness being an enemy of the mind, I'm making every effort to stay busy and productive. I decided to remodel the bathroom...or at least part of it. And notice the lime green rookie stripes for first-timers. :smash:
  12. Chris, What fuel level in the tank during runs? Could be G-force pulling fuel off of the pickup point in the tank.
  13. All, Thanks for the shout outs, words or encouragement and networking on my behalf. BTW, my sweet wife, Robin, says this has affected me in ways that I cannot see; snappy, grumpy, easily upset. I tell her I'm the same loving, caring person I've always been. I don't know, I just don't see it, but she said a picture is worth a thousands words.......:lurk: What do you guys thinks?
  14. Randall, Thanks for chiming in. Seaport currently flies a route out of El Dorado, AR where I live. Word on the street is that they are pulling out and the company is experiencing financial difficulties. This may help to shed some light on the hiring issues. Shane
  15. pm sent...thanks
  16. wemtd, Thanks for the reply. I'm strictly fixed wing. Shane
  17. Cranky, Wish I had known you were in the Woodlands area...I'd of hit you for some Cat time. :jester:

  19. Good morning all. First, in a nut shell…job loss. Ouch!!! :ack: As a result of initial staffing reductions globally in mid-2015, Murphy sold an aircraft and reduced its pilot staffing for both its Houston and El Dorado operations by a total of two. With my having been the Safety Officer for the flight department for the last few years, I was transferred to the Houston corporate office where I asserted that skill as a Sr. Staff HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) Analyst with the Gulf of Mexico offshore production facilities; quite the experience. And, as many of you remember, there was also that nasty thing going on with my back. While working in the Houston office, I soon thereafter survived two additional rounds of layoffs. Last Thursday morning, it was announced via Company email that a fourth layoff would be taking place that day; I was one of the employees who was cut. :seeya: While my time in Houston gained for me invaluable insight into the oil and gas industry, it also took me out of, and away from, my aviation career. :banghead:Between traveling with work, traveling back to AR when possible to see the family, and the long hours spent at the office, I was left with very little time to actively pursue a position in aviation. However, with this recent round of layoffs at Murphy, I am now using this as an opportunity to actively seek employment in the aviation industry as, once again, a full-time pilot. So, while the severance package helps initially, I do need a job. And, needless to say, this situation severely alters my plans for getting the Storker ‘completely’ finished anytime soon. This is where the shout out comes in to you guys…time to network. Everybody knows somebody that knows somebody that knows the right person. Having said that, if you have contacts, job leads, etc., please keep me in mind. And ‘no’, Croc, while Suave is devastated, do not send Hilda to Arkansas to give him an enema. :jester: Thanks to all in advance.
  20. Colleen, It was just a little over a year ago that my wife was posting here for me because of a severe back injury I sustained at a track event. All the travel she had to do, taking care of the kids, school, home, bills, etc.; to say that it was (is, for you) all overwhelming is an understatement. Hang in there (both of you) and know that your family is in our thoughts and prayers here in Arkansas. Here is my wife's first post for me in March of 2015, following the accident (post #18): http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?10354-XCarGuy/page2 Shane
  21. LOL, p!!! You beat me to the punch with Hilda. Get well, Stewart. If you fing you want/need to chat about the injury/recovery with another back-aholic, give me a shout out. Shane
  22. Good luck tomorrow, Chris. Looking forward to your report.

  24. Chris, A few questions/things to consider about the spherical joint: Is the joint perhaps loose at its mount, allowing it to ‘rock back and forth? Is the spherical portion worn, allowing the shaft to move inside the joint? How much of the shaft’s spines are protruding into the u-joint? Having said that, I would consider changing out the u-joint for a beefier unit such as those produced by Borgeson (see attached photo for example). As for the spherical joint, I personally don’t prefer them, especially if driving a car in a high performance environment (metal against metal in a harsh environment—they are going to wear). I prefer steering shaft support bearings (hence, the word ‘bearing’) as these have actual bearings. I’m currently redesigning the steering for my car (went to the Coleman rack) and am using a combination of three Borgeson shaft support bearings, part number 700010 (again, see attached photo). These bearings can be mounted at pretty much any angle (bearing sandwiched between two plates) and are an improvement over the spherical mount in the areas of smoothness, longevity…and safety. Your car now has 4K miles and these control aremounts have shown no sign of trouble. I’venot heard of/read about any other owner of the new chassis having any issue inthis area. The load imposed on themounts is an upward/outward force. Thosemounts also have a metal base that provides additional integrity in the HAZaround the weld. My personal (veryhumble) opinion is to simply move along with the current setup and performperiodic visual/tactile inspections of these mounts. However, if concerned, you can always addgussets. Chris, seats are a sore spot for me (yes, there’s some pun in there somewhere :jester:). The tilting seats of yester-year are long gone, and I would not do it again; too complex. The current design for my rebuild has the seats mated to the chassis via welded-on mounting tabs. (And for those that are wondering, yes, I will be adding high-end foam padding to my seats for the next rodeo). With the seats mounted directly to the floor, the design is only as good as the floor to which they are attached. In our cases, the floor is nothing more than a thin piece of aluminum mated to the frame. Personally, I’d prefer the seats/seat mounts be mated to anchor-points on the chassis of the car, not the floor.
