  1. Tom and I volunteer to be design consultants. Will there be room for a mechanical bull?
  2. I am putting in high lift cams and a locking cam tensioner. To do so I need to remove the cover of the Duratec 2.3L motor. I have a Cosworth Dry Sump. To take off the cover I need to remove a stud/nut that goes to the dry sump. When I turn the nut, the whole stud rotates. Does anyone know how to remove this stud/nut. Cosworth has not been able to tell me. Here is a photo of the stud. Any help would be appreicated! http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac336/blubarisax/DrySumpStud_zps26b5b6ce.png and a picture of the stud from the internet: http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac336/blubarisax/YD8107_7_zpsebfc5a1f.jpg
  3. Speaking for all the NJMP boys, I'd like to request a walk in beer cooler!
  4. Tom, The mad rush is on, three short weeks! I took my car to the road Tuesday... just two miles to the shop for high lift cams and ECU. Karl
  5. I agree with Croc! Bill is a great guy and I'd take my car to him anytime (if I were closer) for work. Count me in for some LTW track days!
  6. Tom, I don't think 1,000 NA HP is in the cards for me, but I can always have fun trying. Croc on the bronco is well worth the trip. I enjoy the expert advice; car setup, driving, tires and video. Last year I got some invaluable diet coaching (took off 100# and now fit in the Tillett seats) from Kitkat as he ate a full rack of ribs. Karl
  7. Looks Great!
  8. I knew I should have gotten the 14:1 compression ratio pistons when ordering the motor. The Dyno Dynamics is known as the heart breaker. Still, I think that some mapping would help. I'll never be as fearless as Croc and Kitcat in the corners, so I'll have to make it up on the straights.
  9. Had the car on the Dyno Dynamics 450, no wonder I can't keep up with Croc. The Map from Cosworth obviously needs some work. Air:Fuel ratios seem out of whack. Not so close to the Cosworth rated HP. With any luck, the new cams and a good ECU programming should improve things. http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac336/blubarisax/Karl-Run3-HPTQ-RPM_zpsb411c861.jpg http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac336/blubarisax/Karl-Run3-AFRsTQ-RPM_zpsa9e124c9.jpg
  10. Joe, Indeed I do have a Sadev gearbox in my Superlight SV. As Tom says, I added a Geartronics Paddle Shift kit to the Sadev. Just double the price of the Sadev (ouch) and you will have one fantastic system. Mog-Racing sells a Geartronics setup with all the parts you need to connect the Sadev. With the paddle shifter, the shift lever is eliminated so there is no way you would need to modify your chassis. I don't recall just how far the Sadev gear lever moved, but I don't think it was all that much. I agree with Mike, get it and see. The Sadev has a weight advantage over the Quaife too! If you plan on a lot of street driving, I'd stay with the 6spd. But for the track, WOW is it fun. The Sadev with the flatshift setup worked well for upshifts, but the paddle shift kit is a whole different world. If you want to make the trip to NJ, you are welcome to drive my car before pulling the trigger. Warm weather is just around the corner.
  11. Steve, Thanks for the advice, I wondered about the metal chips. My mechanic has a machine shop that can do the job right.
  12. Tom, I was serious. The cam lobes may (won't know till we lay them in there) be very slightly too tall to clear the head housing. We are not talking about anything inside the combustion chamber, just the head casting. Anyway, we may end up with the CNC file from SBD to make the job tidy. Just depends on how much material needs to come off, if any. The way this is done is to lay the camshafts in the head and rotate them by hand to see what needs to be modified. Barbaric I know, but SBD assures me this is no problem. They should know better than me. The before dyno run is set up for Friday morning. Anyway, what was going on in the DR? It's a crazy (in a fun way) place to party!
  13. Steve at SBD recommends using a die grinder to modify the head to get the clearance for the taller cam lobes. Wish me luck! Yes, this is going to be a fun season at NJMP!
  14. I just know that if I make one more upgrade I'll be able to keep up with Croc at the track this year. This times it's high lift Camshafts, top secret valve springs and an upgraded MBE ECU! 13.2 mm of lift should get me over 300 HP (can't let Croc know how much over), 9,500 RPM, plus a broader torque band. I got the toys from SBD Motorsports The MBE9A4 ECU will work much better with the Geartronics paddle shift kit than the Cosworth MBE ECU (aka an old school 992 ECU) http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac336/blubarisax/Camshafts_zps1c94541f.jpg
  15. Love the new motor. Can't wait to see it in person and on the track!
  16. I keep her locked up'
  17. I have used this dye on a BMW M6 interior with great success. Not your usual cheap dye. They also have restoration products that can make even the hardest leather soft again. http://leatherique.com/
  18. Not sure on the wife yet, I'd give the odds at less than 50-50.
  19. The Radison in Corning, Aug 2-4. Is that correct? I'm in. Towing to the event since I've ruined my car for long road trips!
  20. Has anyone had experience with Avon radial slicks? I am currently using Michelin slicks (20/54-13 and 24/57-13) and like them, but shipping is expensive from europe.
  21. Hope you guys don't have the fog we do in North Jersey. I had a great day at NJMP track yesterday. Thanks to global warming!
  22. NJMP is having a track day! Weather.com says a high of 60 in Millville, NJ. Come on by! Ron, if you get in the mood come down. Karl
  23. Roger Kraus Racing is a good source too http://www.rogerkrausracing.com/ You can always get them on ebay from Online-Motorsport (cool tires, expensive shipping) http://www.ebay.com/itm/24-57-13-MICHELIN-S610-MEDIUM-COMPETITION-RACE-SLICK-TRACK-DAY-NEW-TYRE-/170767061229?pt=UK_Cars_Tyres_RL&hash=item27c28290ed And, my buddies at Mog Racing are always happy to help. They have used slicks for cheap, but shipping is also expensive. www.mog-racing.com
  24. Just mail the bands to yourself before you re-enter the USA.
  25. I did mine with Jet-Hot. Works well, but I just coated the exterior. They have a local shop in Hackensack that can take care of it for you. I think they ship them somewhere though.
