  1. I'll get in Friday evening. Scotch at the ready.
  2. I have the CF Caterham seats (Tillett B2) and have no issues with the helmet and Simpson neck restraints. There is no room to spare and the Hans did hit the seats.
  3. Tom, you should be at the track today! Nice out here.
  4. Glad you had fun! I'm looking forward to seeing you agin on the track in June.
  5. Tom, thanks for letting me know. I did get spin and smoke, just not burning rubber.
  6. Well said Mike. I'm in the same work boat.
  7. Well, I was showing off to my son... how to do a burnout and slipped the clutch. Nasty smell, but it is working for now. I ordered a race clutch and light flywheel. I'll have Bert put it in at some point. It's a quick job once the engine is out!
  8. Wish I could have been there to see your R500 fly! Tom and Mike said you were very quick!
  9. What Caterham can't use a little tidying up? No worries, you'll be set by June 22nd!!!
  10. I wish I could make it but I'll be out of the country...
  11. Croc, good advice as always. Maybe I just need a little more power...
  12. The Lightbulb is the same as the huge banked bowl. As I am told, I can pick up time by not lifting with my right foot and transitioning to braking. So, left foot breaking would allow me to go straight from full throttle to breaking, saving a few tenths of a second in every breaking zone. This can only be done with clutchless downshifts. I'm practicing in the daily driver for now, but it sure feels weird... I haven't had the nerve to try it on the track yet.
  13. Most of my laps were in the 1:16 range. Funny thing was that I was annoyed that the Subaru was going too slow as I chased him around. Goes to show you can learn something from anyone. Mostly, I tried to stay full on the gas wherever I could and get back on the gas hard as I came out of the corners. I definately picked up lots of time in the lightbulb by going 15 MPH faster through it and getting on the gas much earlier as I exited it. A few extra HP and a few less lbs made a big difference too. Later in the day, I did spin out in turn 7 when trying to start braking later, but barely went off track. I'll call it the Kitcat special! Next on the list is to learn left foot braking... Karl
  14. Here you go boys...
  15. Great day on the track! 70 and sunny. It was a last minute event as some other group cancelled. Only 18 drivers and lots of open track. I did my best times ever, under just 1:15!!! Watch out Croc. I have two weekends to practice before our June Se7ens gathering.
  16. Perhaps it's Jeffs in his new R500!
  17. The cost is based on the stated value. They have a quick quote system on thier website. For example the cost for a $40,000 car is: Single-event policy: $276 6-event policy: $1341 9-event policy: $1786 12-event policy: $2105 15-event policy: $2371 My event at Lime Rock was covered by my regular insurance after a few discussions (not as bad as I expected) with the friendly folks at my insurance company. But, they dropped the Caterham the same day they finalized the claim. I suspect they have changed their policy by now to exclude HPDE events and the like.
  18. I use Lockton too. You can get a little discount by joining the Porsche or BMW clubs and registering through them. These are stated value policies. Be careful not to undervalue your car. If repairs exceed the stated value, they can total the vehicle and keep it for salvage. One thing I don't like is that the cost is per event. A three day event costs the same as a one day event... Karl
  19. Joachim, Fun video! Thanks for posting. Don't forget to post some of your racing.
  20. I have a skid plate from Alderman and a bell housing guard from Caterham. They make a good combo.
  21. Anyone ever done PlastiDip on their wheels? I run a tie down strap through my wheels on the trailer and am afraid the straps would rub it off.
  22. I've watched some youtube videos on PlastiDip and it looks very easy. I'd just test a spot without any prep other than a good cleaning. If it does not work you can just peel it off!
  23. I'm sure the 13" wheels will be better for your off road work! As I recall, the diameter is the same or close to it.
  24. 7+ seconds??? I want them back! Just kidding!
  25. I use them too. Not cheap, but having it makes me feel better.
