Mike, Congratulations on the sale. I am sure a 4,000 mile drive in the SV will be a piece of cake! Is the new car here yet? The wait must be killing you, it's even killing me!!! Can't wait to see it. Karl

I got the EasyMap software from SBD (free download) http://www.sbdev.co.uk/Engine_Management_Systems/ECU/MBE_ECU&Software.htm and used the MBE USB/CAN Interface from Caterham http://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product.php?id_product=2945 This setup is working and is how we can see the loom is bad... http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac336/blubarisax/IMG00096-20110420-1735.jpg http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac336/blubarisax/IMG00094-20110420-1734.jpg http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac336/blubarisax/IMG00093-20110420-1007.jpg

I'm in, even if I have to push my car there! Seriously, I signed up for the weekend before with PCA and Monday.

Here is the latest status from my shop on the Cosworth electrical issues. I'm starting to worry! Any ideas? Maybe I have the wrong loom or ECU. Hi Karl, * Here is some more specific information regarding the problem we are having with your car: Although we have not remedied the power output to the injectors and coils, we ran our own power wires temporarily to test further. Today we started to run a complete output test starting with the injectors and coils. The test was as follows, inj. #1:good, inj. #2:ng, inj. #3:ng, inj. #4: ng. Then we moved on to the ign. tests and they were as follows. ign. #1:ng, ign. #2: good, ign. #3:ng, ign. #4:ng. As you can see the only outputs working properly are #1 injector and #2 coil. At this point I decided to run a test of all outputs in each corresponding connector. The test was as follows: ign. #1 output fires # 4 coil, ign. #2 fires #2 coil, ign. #3 fires # 1 coil and ign. #4 fires #3 coil. We have not gone to the injectors yet but as you can see it's apparent that that outputs are configured wrong so far at least on the ignition side. But, we did plug in the original computer and had the same problem, therefore could this wiring harness be wired wrong for this ECU as supplied? Is there precedent of this harness being used in other cars? * Thanks Ed Light Bert G.

blubarisax replied to blubarisax's topic in Parts For Sale / Wanted
I'm definately in for June! -
Having been married more than once I may not be the best example, but I always like the justification that I have pending sale on one toy then get another; only to have the first deal fall through...presto you have both toys!!!

FS Avon CR500 and Caterham 15" Wheels
blubarisax replied to blubarisax's topic in Parts For Sale / Wanted
SOLD in record time! And they could not be going to a better home. Karl -
Up for sale is a set of Avon CR500 tires and Caterham 15" wheels. The tires are size 195/45-15 and the wheels are 6.5 x 15. Used for just 1400 miles before upgrading to wider 13" wheels and tires. Replacement cost would be $1,596 plus shipping from the UK. I'll let them go to a good home for $750 plus shipping. They would be a nice upgrade for any Caterham owner that wants the current style wheels. They came with a 2009 kit and have very little wear. I have not taken the tires off of the wheels and they look fantastic. More extras to follow. Where did you find the Alcantara? It looks great.

Dude... you might as well set the tone for the rest of your married life now. What better way than a Se7en of any sort. Croc's car is just what you need, I have seen it in the flesh and tried to keep up with it, unsuccessfully! As a daily driver, the extra room in a SV bodied car would be nice. Good luck! Karl

We think the main issue is that the MBE ECU is not turning on the relay. So, we have no power to the coils, injectors and fan. When we wire the coils/injectors directly from the battery, the motor fires but very roughly like the timing was way off... Hopefully, we'll both have our cars on the road for the May 1st fish and chips run...
-
Well, well, well... we have put power directly to the relay and are getting the motor to fire, but it is very rough, sounds like something with the timing, like it is off 180 degrees... yikes... Cosworth UK was helpful as was Rich (aka ratchet) but we are not out of the woods... this makes two full days of messing with the electronic ignition system, I miss the simpler days before computers in cars... :banghead: As you might have guessed, I won't be driving at NJMP this weekend. I am going down just to hang out and check out the action, but will be sadly missing my cheese doodle :cuss:

Here is an email from my shop to Cosworth. If anyone has ideas... Dear Kyong, * We are having a problem with the MBE ecu relay box*system. It is not supplying any power to the injectors or coils. We did a pin out of the original harness vs. the new harness and they appear to be the same.*We went online with our pc to the new mbe computer to ck. our outputs and we can turn the fuel pump on, all the sensors are reading, we do have trigger signals to the injectors and coils but we do not have power coming out of the relay box to the injectors or coils. Is there a way to control the relay box from the ecu to turn on the power? *The ECU that was in the car is: #38L036A serial #00050869. THe new ECU you supplied us with is:YD0387-02, uid#100128241 notes:YDT0033, and harness#YD8048. Please advise as to what you might think is the problem and what we can do to remedy same. * Thanks in advance, Ed and Bert

I'm scheduled to be there Saturday and Sunday. Hope the boys at Radical Motorsport New Jersey get it together in time. Still have not started the Cosworth or setup the Geartronics Flat Shifter. Down to the wire it seems. I am looking forward to the Se7en NJMP event too. Hopefully Ron's car will be here by then. Karl
