I plan to be there.

I debated the "tallness" with the maker. In the end we made it 5" over standard so I could pass tech inspections with a helmet on...

Hey there... I was just trying to see where Mike's CSR was registered!!!
-
Al, I was there about 10:30 AM before meeting up with Mike and Steve.
-
not to worry, my car is back on the road. I took it down to Asbury Park this morning. The Sadev sequential gearbox is going to take some getting used to.

Check out OMP's casual driving shoes or Puma Drift Cats on Zappos.

So, here was the elusive problem with the Cosworth loom. We had the coil loom hooked up backwards YIKES!!! Anyway, that does not explain why no power to the relays. So it looks like a combination of issues were going on. We are putting a new Cosworth loom (they were good enough to get me a new one) today and hopefully the relays & fans work. For the good news, the wheel HP averaged about 210 on a Dyno Dynamics Dynamometer (they calculate a 28% loss with this machine). This would translate to engine brake HP of 290 HP, but that may be somewhat optomistic. Cosworth rates this setup at 280 engine brake HP. The most important thing is the motor sounds scary cool... Here is the coil loom on backwards: http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac336/blubarisax/IMG00082-20110413-1640.jpg Here is the troublesome coil loom: http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac336/blubarisax/CoilLoom.jpg A photo from Cosworth of the correct installation (would have been nice to get this photo or the wiring chart while we were having all the problems) http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac336/blubarisax/Picture134.jpg Here is the Duratec connected to the engine loom (no separate coil sub-loom) http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac336/blubarisax/IMG00107-20110425-1511.jpg

Mike, I'll also plan to roll in at about 11:00 with the camera. I'll call you when I get to Milford to meet up. Should be a beautiful day. Karl

Mike, I'll check on the tonneau seat pockets, but I you are correct, they were for the Tillett Carbon Fiber seats. So, I have the actual top and the hood bag available. We could have put the hood on the car before the 3,700 mile drive. Karl
-
Sounds good to me too!
-
I also have a never installed Caterham tonneau cover with headrest pockets that would be perfect in the event of an unexpected thunder blizzard.
-
I may be able to help. I have an unused top and could part with the hoodsticks and hood bag. I pit on a custom tall rollbar so the setuo no longer fits my car. I still need the doors though.

Excellent news. I called in the calvery to save the day. Steve at SBD was most helpful. For just 95 GBP they spent an hour training my shop on the MBE ECU and gave us the code to unlock the software completely. We were able to re-assign the pins and got the fan to work just fine as well as learning how to modify the map if we needed to. The car is running good on the Cosworth USA supplied map. So, we are off to the Dyno tomorrow for some fine tuning! http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac336/blubarisax/IMG00107-20110425-1511.jpg

Mike, If you need me to pick up your CSR and keep an eye on it, just let me know. I've got "plenty of room" for it here. (anyone think we could get this sucker to pop a wheelie):driving: My car seems to be running fine now with some help from Steve at SBD Motorsports in the UK and we are off to the Dyno in the morning. So, as long as it's not pouring rain, I'll be there! Karl

NJMP June 27th and 28th Trackdays and get together

2) BluBariSax (Karl) Going down Friday for the PCA HPDE Saturday and Sunday! I'll put a BIG Porsche decal on the bonnet of my Caterham to trick the track chair! -
Hey there! Just you wait! I'm planning my route (with race gas on the way) now...
-
I'd call in on Monday, I am sure you'll fit with that tiny S3
-
I've got my fingers crossed for your timely delivery. My car should be on the road by then too, with any luck. If it is done, I'll be there. http://shop.britishracinggroup.com/May-1-2011-British-Racing-Group-Fish-and-Chips-Run-7-BRG-FCR7.htm

I'll get you a photo Monday. I got the low profile dry sump cam cover with an oil filler cap, 19mm breather and coil on setup. Thanks for paving the way. I'm glad to have gotten the idea from your car. And, even more happy to have beaten Croc to the punch!!! I used a new ford gasket, cutting off the bolt tabs so it fit. My mechanic put some red grease in to help with sealing. I'll ask Burt what he used. He is a drag motor builder most of the time. The car has not really run yet (just 20 min) so no leaks so far.

I am looking for a connection to a shop with MBE experience. I have a local Dyno that can do the actual work, but I thought it might save a lot of time if they had someone to guide them a little. I'll probably ask Cosworth for help, but thought I'd check in for other options. I got the MBE ECU from Cosworth USA so it is not locked and i have the Easymap software and interface. Thanks, Karl

So the plot thickens. We put the original Caterham loom (38L035A) back in the car and it fired right up. So, there must have been an issue with the Cosworth loom. They are getting in a replacement Cosworth loom to test. If it works, I'll put it in. The Cosworth looms are just beautiful compared to the Caterham looms and I'd like to have one if I can get it to work. Originally, I had ordered a new Caterham loom from Ben (at his recommendation) to put on the new motor when it was built. The new Caterham loom was sent directly from Ben to Cosworth. Cosworth told me none of the connectors fit on the Duratec (which I was convinced was impossible) so that is when I bought the Cosworth loom, not really knowing how nice it was. As it turns out, the loom that Caterham sent to Cosworth was not the right one. It was a 38L025A (Zetec) not a 38L035A (Duratec) loom... YIKES has this been an expensive goose chase or what!!! Anyway, my new Carbon Fiber cam cover arrived from Reverie last night and after I put on the Cosworth Power badge I was back in love with my car. Karl

Huge News: Team Lotus F1 team may takeover Caterham
blubarisax replied to rnr's topic in General Sevens Discussion
for what it's worth, I can't get anyone at Caterham USA (the old spring break line). Also, I could not get anyone at Caterham (8:30 EST) either, I suspect they are all just out for a pint of beer or getting ready for the Royal wedding. -
I went with wider front wings (8") and lightweight wingstays from Mog-Racing to fit my new tires and wheels. So I have up for sale a set of 7" Carbon Fiber wings and stock wingstays that came of of my SV. They are in good shape with no major issues, but they have been used for 1,400 miles. They have 3M film on the front 1/4 section of the wings. Asking $200. Will post detailed photos of the wings off of the car soon... http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac336/blubarisax/_MG_6117-1.jpg
