  1. The least Caterham could do is sell us us the Duratec supercharger!
  2. Jake, you and me both...
  3. Yes, a nice local Seven!
  4. The Quaife 6 Spd transmission is sold! It's going to a good NJ home...
  5. Big guys like Se7ens too...look at me! There is plenty of room in an SV for 6'4"/260... You just need a few extra HP to keep the HP:Weight ratios where they should be.
  6. I tried to talk Ben into giving me your new car and just painting a silver stripe on mine for you...no luck. I am expecting to end up with something like an R500 in with a wide body (SV). My wife would complain too much if I got a new car when I already had a new car. She will hardly notice the extra HP and "automatic transmission"
  7. My top secret inside sources tell me Caterham will announce an Aero Racer (like Radical) designed by Lola tomorrow. Sounds like a fun toy, but I am not sure I see the point.
  8. The motor is sold, thanks for all the interest!
  9. funny you would ask, Ben did offer to build me a CSR today for the Cosworth engine.
  10. MOG insists that you just have to splice the GCU into the ignition line somehow. I am just getting the flatshifter that cuts the throttle for just the instant you are shifting. My common sense (and I only have a very little) tells me to pass on the paddle shifter setup. Joachim Westerman at MOG says "Yes, we deliver the SADEV with all including what you wrote. The only job you must do is setup the GCU what is mega-easy and cut the ignition cable and connect it with the GCU loom." Sounds easy no?
  11. maybe we should invite a few Lotus owners to join us...
  12. I wish I had the skills to put it in. The boys at Radical Motorsports in Ramsey are doing the work. Perhaps they would let us watch the install. This is great shop, Burt is my main man there... They are located on Rt. 17 South near all the car dealers.
  13. Tom, Thanks a lot for turning me on to Sadev... one is on the way!
  14. So, I pulled the trigger on the Sadev sequential gearbox this morning. I ordered it from Mog-Racing.com in Germany. The same place I got the Nitrons from. They were great to deal with. Apparently, they are now a Sadev distributor and have created a true plug-and-play setup for a Caterham. The kit included the wiring harnes, GCU (gear control unit) and gear position indicator. MOG-Racing had a Sadev (with the 1:1 final ratio) in stock so it won't be long. So... this leaves my Caterham 6-Spd up for grabs, in addition to the motor. I plan on explaining to the wife that it's nearly an automatic, no need to use the clutch or even let up on the gas to upshift!
  15. I am glad this is coming together. If anyone is intersted warming up, NASA has HPDE events at NJMP and Lime Rock in April. I will be there practicing to keep with the Thunder From Down Under! Stig, if you have not looked at it, Croc's SV is a beauty.
  16. ...better to ask forgiveness than permission. We use the reciprocal spending approach...
  17. Mike is the NJ registration guru. I would recommend getting a car that is already titled in NJ. You might get lucky with the 1965 Lotus title as long as it does not indicate Kit or Reconstructed in any way. Good luck, there are ways to get this done if you want it bad enough. I went through this with a new Caterham just a few months ago. PM me for more details...
  18. Tom, I can't say for Croc, but I am just trying to compensate for my substantial weight disadvantage over most Caterham drivers... Now has anyone put a blower on a Duratec?
  19. My project for this weekend is making a foam seat base using a bead kit from Pegasus Racing. I measured and it gets me 1 1/2 inches lower. But even with slouching, I still need another two inches of height in my FIA roll bar. I am trying to find someone who can weld in a two inch insert in the uprights and adjust the braces appropriately while I am replacing the motor next month.
  20. I bet a nearly new Duratec 2.0L with a dry sump would be just the ticket for this car. This is a great looking car!
  21. i like to think of SV as short for Super Velocity!!!
  22. Sean, that is exactly what I am talking about. I have read they are a bit more civilized than the Quaife, but can noisy in neutral.
  23. It is a sweet engine. Just let me know if you want to take a closer look at it. Karl
  24. I'm not exactly sure of the 2.0L engine weight, but the Cosworth motor tips the scales at 113 kg, (249 lbs) in full trim without the flywheel/clutch. I read that the Duratec is about 40 lbs lighter than the Zetec motor, or about the same as the crossflow. Anybody with some real facts, please speak up. And don't forget with the Titan Roller Intakes, it sounds marvelous!
