  1. Mike, What, are you running straight pipes now as part of the secret sauce? Or is the diffuser creating that much turbulence noise? I am planning on just keeping the revs under 8000 so I'll be compliant. Never tested my car for db though. Karl
  2. You can get Pagid R14 Black pads from Caterham UK. Very fun on the track.
  3. There is a advanced HPDE at Lime Rock on Saturday October 29th. It would be fun to have some Sevens there. It's a bit pricey for half a day, but they get in 4 sessions per run group. I'll be there! https://www.scda1.com/events/detail_by_id/875070082 There is also a Mohawk Hudson Region SCCA HPDE the week before at Lime Rock that I also plan to attend! http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.cfm/event/event.requirements/uidEvent/D564E30C-AB00-C64C-A1ECD0956B878604 Croc, can I borrow that diffuser?
  4. Congratulations on the registration. What year is your Caterham? We have to plan a NJ spirited drive before the winter weather arrives.
  5. I wish I could make it. I will be at Lime Rock on the 10th and Pocono the 17/18th. My sweet wife's understanding only goes so far...
  6. I'm not 100% sure how they do it, the stroke and bore are the same. I think the difference is in the balancing. In addition to the stock Caterham 260 HP motor, it also has 13:1 compression ratio, different cams, heavy duty head bolts and big end bearings. I had Cosworth set my redline at 8,200 just to be safe. I also chickened out and did not get the 14:1 CR pistons. Here is a Cosworth brochure on the motor and various options.
  7. Hmmm, the secret sauce is the billet crankshaft.
  8. Might I suggest the the Cosworth built Ford Duratec. Reving to 8,500 rpm is so sweet!
  9. Here is the link to the article in European Car
  10. Yikes! Can't wait to see the new goodies.
  11. I tried sitting on a pad of 1" closed cell foam and it was not enough to resolve the issue. When moving up you can run into issues with your hip bones hitting onto the side bolsters. So out came the saw.
  12. Ron, Congratulations on the new car! Can't wait to see it on the road. When do you bring it back to NJ?
  13. I'm on a short wait list for 8/20-21 with Metro NYC PCA. Keep your fingers crossed for me. It's a very fun track.
  14. I wonder if it will be as noisy as the Quaife and Sadev gearboxes. Mog-Racing stocks the Sadev gearbox all setup as a bolt in kit for the Duratec Caterhams. I can attest to the fact that these are an absolute blast on the track.
  15. I know just the place to shop... Mog-Racing. They have 8" wide CF CSR wings!!! Only 169 euros each. http://www.westermann-motorsport.com/shop/product_info.php?info=p13_Cycle-Wings--variants.html&XTCsid=ec3f935724c25d23620ec507278e9127 Not trying to hijack the thread
  16. Mike, I bet you could squeez a nice set of cantilevered slicks on these wheels!
  17. Perhaps something like this would work. Glad your trailer was OK. http://www.macscustomtiedowns.com/product/204/WheelNets
  18. [/img]The seats are no longer for sale. After a little confidence building phone all with the friendly folks at Tillett, I decided to operate on my lovely carbon fiber seats. My problem is that the top of my femur pinched against the sides of the bucket. So, I just got out a grinder and went to town. Once I had what I hope is enough material removed and shaped, I filled in the gap with some epoxy putty then finished off the rest with some JB Weld. It all sanded up quite nicely and seems to be holding. </p><p> </p><p> If this does not work then I http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac336/blubarisax/th_IMG00194-20110807-1831-5.jpg' alt='th_IMG00194-20110807-1831-5.jpg'> http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac336/blubarisax/th_IMG00193-20110807-1809.jpg
  19. Do you have the rear race brakes? I am thinking ablut getting them. Karl
  20. Here is a post from Britishspeed about the annual NNJ spirited drive. Last year Mike, Stuart and I attended. Me without a car yet. This is a great group and it would be fun to have some sevens there. Karl Hello, Driving Fans in the NYC area, As promised earlier this year, I am creating one of our signature Spirited Drives through Northern NJ. This will be a two hour Drive from North NJ, through some of the most scenic and twisty two-lane roads in Sussex County NJ, and Orange County, NY. The Date is Saturday, August 13. While the details are not set in concrete, I'll tell you that the Start will be sometime around Noon in western NJ and the Finish will be at the Lotus Shack in Chester, NY (home to the Lotus collection of David and Sandy Nagler). You may remember the 'Shack from last year's Catskills Drive. I'll BUMP the thread as info becomes available. RSVPs are requested so that we know how many goodies to have on hand at the end. Send me a PM if you are coming. http://britishspeed.com/forum/images/smilies/clap.gif Atwell Haines '88 Esprit Northern NJ Updated Post: The Start will be at Mac's Diner, 1420 State Route 23 North, in Butler, NJ. This is 2.5 miles NORTH of the 23 and 287 junction (Between Boonton and Kiel Av on 23 North) The OFFICIAL Start Time (gassed up & ready to go!) is 1:00 PM. I'll be at the Diner about 12. It's gonna be a GREAT TRIP. If you (or a Significant Other) wishes to join us for the PARTY at the finish (32 Elkay Drive, Chester NY, 10918) show up around 3:00 - 3:30 PM. Don't expect to leave the party early. http://www.britishspeed.com/forum/showthread.php?5111-North-NJ-SPIRITED-DRIVE
  21. Here is a better version. I'm just figuring out how to use iMovie.
  22. So here is a little clip from my weekend at Watkins Glenn. I was lucky enough to have an excellent instructor who got me to drive like I was in a go-kart. It is much more fun to be doing all the passing rather than being the slowest car on the track. The video quality stinks, I must have screwed something up in converting the files from .mov to .MP4, but you will get the idea. (I figured out my video conversion quality probmem and an updated version will be made.) The RTR - PCA (Philly) is a fun group and very open to non Porsche cars. New video posted... Karl
  23. At the Glen now, slicks on and ready to roll in the morning!
  24. The Roller Barrels sure do sound good when you open it up and the throttle response is great. You can always add them later. BTW, the European Car story was on my car. They did not mention my calling Ben three times a day.
  25. Seriously, your brake lights work fine, you just never seemed to have to use them. The car sticks like glue and you hit the curves full blast... Heretic is proof positive that HP isn't everything. I was very impressed with your car.
