Folis is now 76. I usually only get to see his car from the rear when we are on track. His Zetec was developed and tuned by Abacus Racing in Suffolk VA. ECU developed for him by MegaSquirt and it puts out about 245 - 255 HP, Quaife Sequential trans. It is really a beautiful, well cared for car with lots of TLC and ingenuity from Folis.

Karl would you like some good videos if various rides at Summit Point to review. I am confident you will have the car fixed in time. For those that can not make June, NASA runs Summit August 18,19 and Nov 3,4. -

Ouch! Glad you are OK. Mike M just sent me the notice. Cold tires are just no fun. If the frame is straight, call Caterham UK and have them FedEx the parts. I doesn't cost much more and you have them in two days. Good to hear you hope to make Summit Point. -
I am registered for Hyperfest at Summit Point June 16,17. Register here: http://www.nasaracing.net/?page_id=1342 What are you waiting for Folis,Tom, Dermot, George, Jeff, Scott and you to Karl? Happy Easter!

I get into mine the same way I did with thr top on. Only it is easier with the cage.

SCCA GCR 18.3.3. Side Protection - Open and Closed Automobiles A. The minimum side protection shall consist of a side tube connecting the front and rear hoops across both the door openings. Additionally, there shall also be either a diagonal tube from the front hoop to the rear hoop bisecting the door opening below the horizontal side tube, or not less than two (2) horizontal side tubes. Additional tubing may be added. NASCAR-style door bars are recommended. B. In automobiles with full roll cage installations including side bars, interior door panels may be altered, replaced, or removed. When door panels are removed, all sharp edges or projections shall be protected. Full SCCA Roll Bar Section here: http://sports.racer.net/docs/rules/2002/sect_18_roll_cage_and_chassis_2002_gcr.pdf

Karl, Not sure of the requirements as Piper Motorsports made it to conform to NASA and SCCA.
-
Croc, I am not doing this. I just wanted to learn if anyone has done it. Are you coming to Hyperfest now? We would love to see you there.

Don't bother getting the silver coat from JetHot if you have anything more than the stock Zetec. The silver will burn off in no time. They will redo it for you if you pay them to remove the now dull silver coat and pay them to redo it with their higher temp rated black coating. I know from experience.

Has anyone put a Turbo on a Zetec Seven? What brand Seven? What frame mods required? What type Turbo? Photos?

KLasik, My frame is a 2000 it is likely yours is the same. The front post is bolted to a removable cross bar mounted under the frame. The front of the arm guard rail is bolted to another removable cross bar mounted under the frame. The rear post is bolted through the side of the lower frame rail. All holes in the frame rails are filled and welded so there is no strenth lost. The rear roll hoop and supports are bolted into the existing mounts. It is really a piece of art. Not cheap at $5K. But then it is not your average cage. To my knowledge, the Caterham cages while costing less, are not approved by SCCA or NASA. This style cage has been tested in a 130mph multi rollover. Driver was fine, Th car wrecked yet the cage survived and placed on the replacement car.

I had a full removable cage made by Piper Motorsport in Sterling VA. The cahe adds three full cross members to the under side to increase ridigity. as far as added weight goes - it simply replaced the balast I needed to make autocross minimum weight. The cage meets SCCA and NASA specs. Looks good, easy enter/exit and I can take it off and replace the FIA Bar and top in 30 minutes. P1000637.bmp P1000639.bmp P1000644.bmp P1000645.bmp P1000647.bmp

Replacement pressure plate and disc
MichaelD replied to James A's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I think it is just a stock clutch from a 2000 Focus/Zetec. Cheap. -
Mondo, Where did you find her?

Something is wrong with this guy!

What any of this has to do with Sevens? -
Karl, They will love it. It's extra safe!

Mazda, I went to measure mine and found it still had the 15" Wheels on. Ride height is 5.15" behind the front A arm and 5.5" in front of the rear wheel. Balance is 49% F and 51% R The Raceline Pan is the lowest point. With the 13" wheels it only has 1" clearance.
-
Karl, Are you hiding the TALL roll bar? Have a blast.
-
I have always used fedEx for parts from the UK. Never had any issues with customs or outlandish FedEx fees.
-
Looking for a Caterham 22% wide track steering rack.
-
No one said he has to take it on the track. Just bring it to the track and hang out. The more the merrier.

will do. You can share the hotel info with the Jersey boys.
