1 Birkin, 1,600+ miles, 3 days and a 13 year old co-pilot

The Birkin, if it has a Bikini top will keep the sun off but allow air flow. Drivers left arm will sunburn and passengers right arm. Adding the doors will keep the side winds from blowing your ears off. The Birkini makes it much more bearable.

Any updates? Or, are you going to start a new thread after you wipe the smile off your faces?

I got a voice mail from Scott about 1:20 PM. They have the car and are headed east to get ahead of an approaching storm.

Hello. A long first day. We flew into Denver at about 2 am this morning after 3 hours of delays. Got to the hotel about 3. Jeff picked us up from the hotel and took us back to his place. He graciously donated things for the trip and helped us pack all the extras to ship back to PA. After taking us to the UPS store, he and his wife saw us off. I can not thank him enough for his time and help. He is an asset to the community.

My only regret is that we were not able to stop up and see Skip. We were on the road late and I was not yet comfortable with the car enough to run cross city traffic. Sorry.

We are in Norton, Kansas tonight. Not quite as far as I hoped. The car ran quite well. We have the top and the doors on. I provide the AC with my elbow by opening the door a crack. It did rain a bit but not enough to be a problem. Our biggest scare was just missing a large buck about 10 miles west of Norton. That sealed the deal on stopping for the night.

That is probably enough rambling for tonight. Going to try and get an early start for tomorrow.

500+ miles today. Staying in Barry IL tonight. Light rain in the morning and a near perfect afternoon and evening.

Another 500 mile day. We found bed bugs in Barry, IL hotel this morning. Hopefully we left them all there.

Car ran great. I really enjoyed the Sunday morning drive, cool with nice open roads. But when we got to Indiana, the roads were so rough that I'm surprised that we didn't leave any car parts behind.

I'm finding the drivers the further east we go are more aggressive and less respectful. Last day tomorrow, it should be interesting on the PA turnpike!

Home! 1787 miles. 3.5 days, my co-pilot was a trooper! The car ran great. I'll try and add some pictures tomorrow.

Great news. How do you like the car after that long first drive?

I really am happy with the car. It has a few things I plan change. But I think that is the nature of the beast.

My biggest regret with the trip is that I did not take the advice to make it longer. I would have liked to take more time and smelled the roses...
