rcollum
I try to never miss Katie's. This morning, it was in the 60's at 5:30AM. Spring is here! Here are some vehicles we had not seen before - the Chevy Woody was very nice. UMBC brought two Baja Buggies, this one with the sidewall-less tires. Mike, here with the Ducati he just bought back after about 20 years, plans to take this bike to El Mirage Lake this summer, to seek a class world speed record with it - good luck! --Bob Collum P.S.: Do not miss GYLO 13 (Get Your Lotus Out) here at Katie's lower parking lot, on Sunday, May 7th, 9AM - 11AM. rcollum
The first Saturday of May - very clear and pleasant when I arrived, but it clouded up. Raid was predicted, but for later today. That was enough to keep lots of people away; we didn't have more than the front lot, barely full. Still, some good stuff! Don't forget: GYLO (Get Your Lotus Out) is Sunday, May 7th, 9AM - 11AM, right here at Katie's, lower lot. Lots of cars, lots of people, prizes and surprises! rcollum
We were lucky enough last Sunday (for GYLO) to have no rain. We were not quite at lucky today at Katie's. It was 49 degrees when I arrived at 5:30AM - it was still 49 degrees when I went home at 7:30AM. I met a couple of friends for breakfast, and we left when it became apparent that most people stayed away. Still, there were some interesting vehicles... --Bob Collum

TurboWood
ooooh, an F40. For me that is where Ferrari peaked. Daniel
rcollum
The one that showed up yesterday belongs to the really nice guy who used to own the local Ferrari dealer. We have actually had two show up on the same day... The 'second' F40 has an aftermarket dual-element rear wing. --Bob Collum
rcollum
Some fabulous vehicles at Katie's today. This small sampling just scratches the surface. New & old, large & small. --Bob Collum
rcollum
Here is one reason I think Katie's is worth getting up early every Saturday. First, a 'steampunk' rat rod. Second, who knows what this car is? --Bob Collum
ottocycle
Those with more knowledge than I, please correct me if I am wrong but it looks like a XKE Lindner coupe. A one off built bu a German racer in the early 60's. It was wrecked and if memory serves me well (and it does not always, these days) Lynx or CLK Developments in the UK rebuilt it at enormous expense a few years ago. I do not know if that is the "real deal" or a very nice copy, either way a beautiful cat. It is very hard to improve on the original E type coupe design. This is a recreation of the Low Drag Coupe. According to what the owner told us, this might be the car (the registration matches, anyway) - http://sia-group.co.uk/2015/01/team-nero-1962-jaguar-e-type-3-8-litre-low-drag-coupe/ --Bob Collum
rcollum
Another beautiful morning, another terrific turnout at Katie's. It still astounds me that we regularly have vehicles none of us have seen before! (That gold Alvis certainly qualifies!) The last picture is of a couple of my favorite cars there today. (I think I have windshield envy!) --Bob Collum
rcollum
It rained early this morning, but cleared up by 5:30AM. That always causes people to arrive later than usual to cars & coffee. I arrived at my usual time, and was the first one there, by almost 10 minutes. Michael D. had his Seven there, and it's for sale - http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?11551-2000-Caterham-For-Sale --Bob Collum

rcollum
A great turnout today. Strangely, this is the first time we have had people park down the both sides of the entrance road from Georgetown Pike, across from the fire station. It only left a single, narrow lane to get in or out. --Bob Collum
rcollum
I was away at the beach the last two weeks, so it was good to get back. Today was an excellent example of what is so interesting about Katie's Cars & Coffee - terrific cars & people! Side note: Michael D was there with his Seven... and it's for sale: http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?11646-2000-Caterham-DeDion-For-Sale --Bob Collum
rcollum
Torrential rain pretty much all day Friday meant there were flooded-out roads around the area Saturday morning. We had some people show up at Katie's, anyway. We were fortunate that it didn't rain at all from 5:30AM to about 7:30AM. Attendance was light, but we still saw some interesting vehicles, including a '56 Chevy wagon we'd never seen before! Kevin K showed up, but without his Kurtis... --Bob Collum
Kitcat
Love the wagon! Was it a special edition? I guess it was a Nomad variation? Can you go back and take more pictures:)?
rcollum
Love the wagon! Was it a special edition? I guess it was a Nomad variation? Can you go back and take more pictures:)? The Nomad is a resto-mod, done by a previous owner. Several body mods, including a frenched-in radio antenna nacelle, with a Chevy 350 and Corvette Rallye wheels. The current owner said it had sat for many years, and needed a lot of cleaning up and detail work to get it roadworthy again. He said he plans on re-painting it in more-original colors. (I like it as it is.) --Bob Collum
