Squeegee Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 I finally got the brakes and clutch bled and have all four wheels on. The tires are currently about seven inches off the garage floor. What is the "Staff College" solution to the problem of getting the car off the jack stands? I have a few ideas, but I would like to hear how other people handles it. Thanks.
Austin David Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 I've got a good week to get there, but I was planning to basically do the opposite of how I got it up there: floor jack under the front to remove the jackstand. I think you're asking where the jacking points are, since your crossmember is occupied? Maybe an extra jackstand on one side rail, under the wishbone, then jack the other side to get that center out of the way. On the rear, I'm currently supported on the frame. Once the front corners are supported I can lift the rear from the dedion center, or just lift at the tube to relieve the stands on each corner. Nice floor. Do you have to protect it from jackstands or heavy things? (my racedeck gets crushed/deformed if I have small enough point loads)
wemtd Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 Push car tires onto 2” thick pieces of wood to gain clearance for jack & lift points. Then raise car as far as needed. Reverse of process coming down.
KnifeySpoony Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 7" not high at all, any floor jack should be able to lift your car off the stands. I use the tow eyes front and rear as jack points. The 7 is a super ez car to jack, another plus!

AFAIK the proper front jack point is the meeting of all suspension tubes in the center of the front frame behind the rad.

Also, with my jack stands supporting the front, I cannot fit my floor jack in between their bases to access the cruciform anyways, hence my use of the tow eye. Also I misspoke re: the rear. I use the A-frame/Dedion point.

kayentaskier Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 Knifey, If you're looking for a license plate bracket, you might check with Josh Robbins. Here's the bracket he delivered with my car. At the time, he only had a few more, not sure if he produced another batch or not.

Is that a factory piece or your own solution? KS, That was my own solution. I had originally ordered the kit with a spare tire carrier, but that never came in, so I went with this. I got a boat trailer license plate bracket, ground off the excess, and mounted it "upside down." Remains to be seen if it actually works.
