JohnCh
@IamScotticus I'll broker a deal between the two of you. @spitfun will agree to remove the Lotus badge from his non-Lotus Superformance as soon as you agree to remove the Lotus badge from your non-Lotus Caterham. Unless of course you've already done that Nice car @spitfun. Do you have any larger format photos of the car? Thanks, John

panamericano
Who knew John is Mediator? I have a Super Seven badge on the nose of the Birkin. Birkin badges are NOT available. When I got the car it had a goofy rubber bat emblem, like bat mobile? No thanks, but it can't just run around with a round depression and two holes in the nose. Not trying to fool anyone, but it needs a little style. Enough already, NICE CAR. Edited July 10, 2022 by panamericano

Thanks, John History.... that pic was days after I took possession. the previous owner had made a Lotus clone, even with Smiths gauges. The first thing I did was return it to proper badging. I do realize it's necessary sometimes to register your 7 as a Lotus and badge it up to pass the scrutinizer, I'll accept that. JohnCh
Glad I included my caveat. I think spitfun would kill me if he had to keep up his end of the bargain when you had already made the change Now back to this thread about spitfun's car and (hopefully) more positive comments. -John
IamScotticus
I do apologize for being less than polite. I could only find one thing to complain about. The car as a whole is stunning and Im a sucker for yellow. I would like to know if that curved windscreen cuts down on the buffeting??? MV8
It looks like the glass is custom made for Superformance, so they may be the only source for a replacement. I assume it is laminated glass and not coated polycarb.
speedwagon
The glass "was" custom made for the s-1. but the present superformance no longer supports the s-1 {orphaned} so it is unobtainable. But I met a glass guy in salt lake who said he could make glass to fit anything. unfortunately no longer have his contact. But the day is coming. john

Your car, you do whatever you'd like and enjoy it! Who cares a wit what someone else thinks, but as far as I'm concerned all these cars are offshoots of Lotus (legitimate and bastard alike) and I think it is great when they tip the cap to Lotus in some way. I think it only goes too far when someone tries to sell a car as a Lotus inappropriately. My 2 cents.

You'll need written permission from at least two Elan owners and will need to carry that in your car along with your registration in case you are pulled over by the Lotus police. @SENC and I are happy to provide that authorization for you. -John 1
