I wasn't going to have the book reprinted so I just added the minus signs with a fine black pen/marker and a ruler. Came out OK... But... what about my other documentation? To my horror, the error was propagated consistently in my build journal, my (manual) alignment data sheet, and in this thread! It's all fixed now (phew...), including in my edited post from Sep 7 2023. Quite surprised that no hawk-eyed member, not even @mrmustang or @IamScotticus, caught this. The nose is also Caterham Firecracker Yellow. What I consider the "spare wheel carrier" is easy to spot. The license plate is attached to it. All the same paint. And no, I don't really see the "blue" in Ford Moonstone Blue either. Not in this light or any other.

Most Caterhams that have the spare tyre carrier/license plate bracket welded in place are painted body colour. Cars with bare aluminium bodies are the exception being left in the frame colour. FYI: Moonstone Blue Metallic was first used on the Ford Sierra Cosworth 3 door (hatch). This particular colour requires a light grey undercoat. The top coat is produced only as a varnish finish with a dominant blue colour. The photos I found on-line show it to be more like metallic silver with a slight blue hue. Obviously, what base coat colour was used plus the thickness of the top coat would play a part in the final product. 1

Wasn't looking closely at the bottom. Not being familiar with it I was expecting a bracket in the middle of the rear panel (obviously obscured by the wheel) with a couple/three studs, like in Jeeps etc. Funny what a can of worms @IamScotticus opened with his nonsensical line... I was pondering a spare wheel carrier when speccing my kit but Josh Robbins talked me out of it. Looks cool though, and serves a purpose.

Your carrier apparently came from the factory with with a carrier set up for a Canada/USA license plate. My 1700 Super Sprint is an English car (lived most of its life in Northwich) so the number-plate plinth is a different shape. Dunno when Caterham started having two setups for these license plates. As far as I knew, my 1979 was always a USA car, and it had the English plinth. I bought the car in Wisconsin. Here it is ready to go on the transporter to Cape Cod. There are only two holes in the plinth, and they are correct for a Canada/USA plate. Edited February 26 by pethier
