Ted7
I used to be super happy with my Seven, a 2005 Zetec SVT that was driving really well... until the day when, at sunrise, I hit a chunk of asphalt on the road that lead to a hairline on the wet sump. Decided to send the car to a friend working at a "reputable" shop, who welded the crack and another mechanic put it back on the car, did something wrong (still don't know what), let the engine run with 0 oil pressure in it, and... seized it. So I brought it to my usual mechanic (which is something I should have done at the first place), pulled out the engine and transmission, and send it to Tom for a full rebuilt. NOW, I tried to reach out to Raceline to get a new oil sump, with many mail exchange, they don't do this sump any longer but they do one that will work, there's just an opening for the starter that can be left open or closed with a plate. They sent me an invoice with the wrong one (starter on exhaust side, mine is on the intake side), I tried to tell them it's not the right one, sent several e-mails, but no answer, crickets, nada. Is there an alternative to Raceline for a zetec SVT? Any other place I can find Raceline 'from the past'? Burton has one but again, starter on the wrong side. I could stick with the one that has been fixed but I'd rather go with a brand new one.

Chris (sales) and Peter (technical) are incredibly helpful, but they are challenged with email correspondence. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes it's a downright painful blackhole of silence. The best way to work with them -- and I've been buying parts from them since 2003 and as recently as last year -- is to pick up the phone and call. It might take a few tries, but once you get a hold of them, they should get you sorted, or at least help you understand your options.
toldfield
Is the old sump still intact/repairable? I use a welder/machinist in Sierra Madre might be able to do a proper repair.

Well, not sure it's my mistake, business is business, if you can't help your client, hire someone for that matter. But yes, I'll try to call them or have someone in the UK calling for me. It has been repaired but I'm not sure it has been well repaired. I gave it to another specialist so he can check if the first job has been done well. But yes you can send me your guy's info, please. It sounds like I should have included a smiley face. My comment was intended as sarcasm, not a correction. Regardless, calling them has always proven far more effective for me over the years.

CharlesG
I have some experience welding aluminum. If the sump was welded from one side, that could be a problem. With the sump removed from the engine, it would be possible to do a proper repair.
CarlB
Raceline can be difficult to deal with. I agree, calling is the best approach. Some of the things they have are not available other places. Tracsport makes bellhousings and one of their bellhousings has provision to put the starter on either side. I suspect Raceline is selling their stuff. I have a similar car and I have a Raceline oil pan that is wide on both sides. My car has a bellhousing that mounts the starter high on the right side under the intake manifold. Is that what came on your car?
MV8
Ted, it sounds like the assembly mech forgot to put oil in it among other things. I can't see the repair but if it was just a crack, the worst it would do is leak a little (versus drop all the oil suddenly). I'd use the repaired pan and fit a guard or lift the car an inch and realign.

He probably drove it around the block and let it idling for a while, not even checking the oil pressure gauge showing 0...
Ted7
Update : I had a friend in England calling them and they finally will send it to me. It took a lot of unnecessary time to figure out which one I needed, starter on the intake or on the exhaust side... just to realize it doesn't matter because the starter of our SVTs are higher and it makes no difference on the oil sump... Now waiting to get my engine back as well as my transmission. Just hope it'll be operational for car week next month! Thanks for all the answers! I borrowed my friend's 7 for car week. My engine is now rebuilt but stuck in NC because of the bad weather they have there. Hopefully it'll be up and running soon. Waiting on the transmission as well.
