Caterham seats

Selling 2 beige Caterham leather seats complete with sliders. 17" cushion width.  Excellent condition save for a 1/2 inch cut just above the cushion.  I replaced them with the traditional bench seats. Asking $400 for the pair.

Can you post a picture of the cut? Where exactly is the 17" width measured? Do you know if they came from an S3 or an SV?

I'm interested but to be honest the logistics are a bit daunting for me at the moment.

@Donnie  Was that Solder_guy's Rotus?  If so then those seats came out of an old Caterham of mine.  The cut in the leather was my clue - UPS did it when I shipped them to him.

This is Rotus ,"RO700000014"

I bought it from Rob Mitchel who bought it from Chris Custer's son at Chris's estate sale after his passing (I have bills of sale). Chris used it as a demonstrator and in magazine ads. Don't know when or from where the seats cometh but I felt they were too large. Has a Toyota 2TG engine, from day one I believe. It's a brute of an engine.

Yes that confirms it - Rob was Solder_guy on USA7s.

The seats came out of a yellow 2003 Caterham SV Zetec SVT that I used to own.  I always felt tan seats did not work with a yellow car.

Oh poo. I'd have recovered them to suit my yellow car, but the SV width is probably a deal killer. I'll have to measure when I get up to the car again; the Elan still has pride of place on the lift.

Style or size the problem?

I'm pretty sure that size is the issue. An SV seat will not fit in an S3 chassis without modification to reduce the width.

It not unusual for there to be variances in tunnel widths.

My 1996 Classic Crossflow long cockpit chassis measures 16" for seat width between side panel and carpeted tunnel.

Odd, I always thought it was 15 inches. I guess it grew around the waist.

My tunnel -- indeed my entire cockpit -- has no carpet. Lots of nekkid aluminum. The car was specced as a racing chassis.

I'm currently kicking myself!!  I got the car out today for a blast because of recent rains which had washed all the salt away. I was fully intending to take a measurement, and I fully forgot. I will go up there and dig the car back out and do so, tomorrow. These seats are talking to me.
