jbanker
I've received a lot of low fives from bikers, one even from a motorcycle cop on a Harley. Almost every biker I see on the road gives my car a long look. lowflyer
My best "motorcycle" encounter took place about a year ago. My wife and I took the Stalker out for a Sunday breakfast in a nearby town. On the way home, I noticed a motorcycle following along behind us. Only after he got a bit closer did I realize that it was a motorcycle police officer from the neighboring town. I'm on pretty good relations with many of the "motor officers" in my town, but didn't know any of them "over there". I got close to the border of the two cities, and at that point he accelerated and pulled up beside me. He looked over and yelled "Cool Car!". Then he hollared "Did you build it?". I answered "yes", he followed up with "Very cool", slowed, flipped a U-turn and returned to his jurisdiction. One of those "fun moments" of owning a LSIS. RacerDan
I just saw Ken Edney's name on here. I was just looking at your car on the Stalker Gallery. Did you get your secondaries working. Have you gotten any times with all of the carb working? Oh, I guess it's appropriate to introduce myself. I'm Dan Gamble from Tulsa, OK. I'm a 61 year old retired Firefighter. I retired in 95 and spent the last 10 years as safety coordinator for a large medical system. I drag raced a 65 GTO in the late 60's. Motocrossed in the early 70's, Then didn't do much until about 95 when I built a Porsche 914 autocrosser from the ground up. The wife and I autocrossed that and others for a few years then I built a GT-3 MR2 and raced it until last year. The competitive flame has kind of flickered but not the need for speed or the need to tinker........leading me to where I am now. I'm not too good at posting pictures (I usually screw it up) but I've got a few of our racer days. RacerDan
Mondo
Welcome aboard Dan. I just retired from our City's Fire Department at the end of last year. Done the motorcycle thing (both dirt & sportbikes). Fixed up a Lotus Europa in the 80s and am switching back to 4 wheels with an Ultralite (hopefully a safer way to still go fast). Loren's another firefighter, from Texas, that's a pretty serious competitor with this car. Again, welcome.
jbanker
Hey, another stalker guy....how many are on here? RacerDan Welcome Dan, Actually there are a good number of Stalker owners on this site. As a matter of fact, the Stalker was also well represented at last year's 7-7-7 event at the Tail of the Dragon. That was the 50th birthday party of the Lotus 7 celebration. Have you made it up to Fred's yet? Jack
RacerDan
Mondo.....I loved racing bikes when I was younger but I really sucked at it. Spent a lot of time face down in the dirt. 4 wheels definately suits my sense of balance better. After leaving the fire service I stayed in safety as an inspector and coordinator. I'm retired now and so glad to be done trying to keep people from being dumb, then cleaning them up when they don't listen. JACK, WOW there are alot of Stalker guys on here. No, I haven't been up to Fred's yet. I was going to go to Hallett this weekend and watch him run his FV. My best friend is going to Hallett in a couple of weeks to run in a Vette meet and if I go then I might get some wheel time so I thought I'd pass on the vintage race. I warned Fred I'd be up in a few weeks. I need to find out how far along he is on his super. I want to see more than a pile of parts. A friend of mine in OKC is a streetrod builder and has lots of good connections. I put him on finding me a 3.4 motor yesterday.

You will find most of the members will tell you that their cars are a lot like a four wheel motorcycle and just as fun and a lot safer. :)
Martin
Hi everyone, I wanted to briefly introduce myself as a future 7 owner (hopefully). I am a huge Lotus fanatic and I find it shocking that today is the 1st day I've ever run across this site :banghead: But I am glad I did! I own a 1991 Lotus Esprit SE. I do love the car but it will be heading out the door eventually so that I can make my dream of owning a Super 7 a reality. I hope to learn a good bit about all of the Seven variants and see if in the process I still go with a Caterham instead of all of the other great options out there. Best Regards, Martin Dyhr
pksurveyor
Welcome abroad to the land of Seven. Besides my Caterham, I also own a Lotus Esprit V8. I enjoy driving both cars on the road and the track, but for pure fun, the Seven gets the thumb up.
Al N.
Martin- Welcome aboard...there are a few Se7eners in the ATL area, check out the Frappr map: USA7s Frappr Map There is a very nice Westfield with Miata drivetrain for sale in NC, at a very good price..check out the listing in the "For Sale" section... -Al BTW, how did you finally find this site? Martin
Thanks for the welcome guys. I found the site through a link from someone building a Caterham. That Westfield you posted is a good looking car, I may have to inquire about it. But again, I still have to sell my Esprit before I can move further. Best option is of course finding a Seven owner looking for an Esprit. Quick question, what is this acronym I keep seeing LSIS or something like that...refers to all the Seven makes? WestTexasS2K
Welcome aboard Martin I am an active FF/paramedic in Tx. I grew up racing motorcycles and love working on anything mechanical in nature. It seems to be a common thread with FF on this group. FF/bikes/cars/7s

Martin...the LSiS descriptor came out of an article a few years back (forget if it was Kit Car or Grassroots Motorsports) that referred to the many variants of Se7ens as "Lotus Seven-inspired Sportscars". The USA7s forum (and the club behind it) is meant to be a resource for all marques and models of LSiS vehicles. We foster friendly relationships between all the brands and owners...with as little hierarchical thinking as possible. This means we generally don't call non-Lotus cars "clones" or speak of them in "less than genuine" terms. There are plenty of elitist/exclusionary sites out there...this forum was not intended to be (and in my experience has not been) one of them. One thing I'll say is that I've met some fast cars and fast drivers through my involvement in the club, in all sorts of cars. Arguably one of the most coveted/respected cars here is Jeff U.'s R-1 powered Locost...which has a fit and finish better than some production cars. Martin
Thanks for the clarification. Well I think it's great that this site is open armed and I agree with saying all the different types have a great place among the "LSiS". As I'm new, could you post a link to where I might see Jeff U's car?

lowflyer
My personal favorite is LALLAL7, although tougher to say. It means "Looks A Little (or a Lot) Like A Lotus 7".

Kitcat
And there are lots of members here who don't own Sevens (like Al:)). I hung out here for almost a year before taking the plunge (Or was I pushed?). Anyhow its a great car to fantasize about (I did that for 45 years) and even greater to own.
