Outdoor Cover, Shower Cap Options

Greetings, could you suggest a good option for an outdoor cover and a shower cap, please?

 

Though all my vehicles are parked/stored in heated indoor garage, I prefer to have the covers to be outdoor-spec for, you know, just in case! Google-search yielded some options. Good options seem to be:

For short-term (few hours or work-day) parking outside during the day (no rain), I'm thinking of getting this Shower Cap: (seems like simpler/easier than half-hood, right?)

I use the caterham indoor car cover and then just have a tarp over it for extra protection inside. I did have a seal skin outdoor cover (for a miata)for a brief time when I needed to keep it outside. It was comically too large but it wasnt ever meant for long term. I also put the interior cover on first to protect the paint and then draped the seal skin over that. 

 

One thing to consider is trailering. I think they recommend using the storm cap vs the shower cap if you ever are going to trailer it.

Thus far I drive everywhere so no need to have a cover. Just used the half hood. But if I got a long journey i guess I can bring the full hood.

Thanks. The umbrella idea is good. But, what if it's windy and get dislodged? This can be a quick option on a calm day. If windy, use a shower cap?

 

Indoor cover isn't weather-resistant, right?

When trailering (open trailer) advice has always been to go ‘Au Natural’: vibration/wind movement of a tarp or cover will damage & rub paint & patina off the vehicle.

 

first time in the rain was painful but I now accept it and more comfortable driving in the tow vehicle.

Sometimes I roll with the large umbrella for spots showers (when parked). Or to just keep the sun at bay.  For me umbrella pole fits between seat and tunnel (sv leather seats). And I put an elastic strap around the handbrake to secure.

 but this is a static solutions I would not move the car with this deployed. 
 

indoor cover is not weather resistant. But I use it indoors or as a layer before any outdoor cover.  My indoor cover with tarp solution works because the ceiling in my space is somewhat questionable in heavy rains. 
 

It is a rare occasion that my car will be outside static for any duration.  I have become less precious since the interior gets wet even when I wash it.

We offer the Caterham outdoor car cover, which is fitted and absolutely waterproof, yet breathable. This is standard equipment on the track cars we support at race events. Here in the PNW, we get plenty of rain, and you're guaranteed a dry seat in the AM when you show up for the morning session. It comes with a storage bag that will fit in the boot. A far cry from a tarp or an umbrella - and it's priced like a premium car cover.

 

I do not recommend open-trailer towing with *any* cover on the car. You're asking for cosmetic trouble.

Good to know; thanks. I suppose I'll keep a large umbrella for a quicky stop instead of fiddling with a Shower Cap.

Thanks Bruce. Glad you responded; I was just about to order these from England. On your site, not seeing the Outdoor listed; only the Indoor. Can you share the link? And, do you have anything comparable (or better) to Long Nose Shower Cap?

Yes, that pretty little Caterham seems familiar:). I recall parking it, top down, next to a large flower garden on a sunny day. I discovered when I returned that the garden had a sprinkler system that not only kept the flowers well hydrated, they also soaked my interior. Just another adventure in se7en ownership.

Nice! However, my umbrella option will strictly be for sun protection during a quicky stop. If the forecast is possible rain, will take the dedicated rain-ride (Miata)!
