KiwiBirkin
Just a small update to my car. I have decided to go away from the Toyota 20v airbox snails i have been using after hearing positive results from guys over at the OZClubbies forum switching to 70mm ram tubes with Uni Filter socks, so I orderd some from a local guy who spins them up himself, i orderd with a specific size for the belmouth so i could get the Uni Filter socks over them and have to say Im very impressed with the quality of the product and they were exactley as orderd. Some pics http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/bits%20and%20pieces/IMG_1528.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/bits%20and%20pieces/IMG_1527.jpg Fitted minus the Fiter Socks http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/bits%20and%20pieces/IMG_1530.jpg I have to say that this little change has made a massive difference to the car with a much better throttle responce and over all the engine feels much crisper as its getting a lot more cold air now straight through the side grill. KiwiBirkin
Also we had a local Fiat/Lancia club trackday here this weekend amd my Lotus7 forum got a invite along, we managed to get 14 cars along for the day and were the biggest group of cars represented. One of the forum members is pretty good with the camera so we let him lose on the infield on one session. http://www.nzsnaps.com/Motorsport/Fiat-Lancia-track-day/i-3hDfFJw/1/L/20120317115925NZS4742-L.jpg http://www.nzsnaps.com/Motorsport/Fiat-Lancia-track-day/i-5zW2wZm/1/L/20120317135654NZS4899-L.jpg http://www.nzsnaps.com/Motorsport/Fiat-Lancia-track-day/i-V6wwWnJ/1/L/20120317125500NZS4829-L.jpg http://www.nzsnaps.com/Motorsport/Fiat-Lancia-track-day/i-TgZTFgH/1/L/20120317140334NZS5039-L.jpg

I havent seen that one before. That is a Fiat Dino Spyder which is very rare here in the USA. I have only seen a couple of them. Looks like someone put a prancing horse on the grill. Nice car that used the Ferrari 2.4ltr V6 that was also used in the Ferrari Dino but mid engined.
Croc
They are some of the best track day photos I have seen. Light years ahead of the stuff they sell at NJMP. Nice and crisp images, blurred backgrounds, brilliant weather, and of course a bunch of gorgeous cars. Excellent post!

Cheers Croc for the comments, Neil who took them is a really good photographer and does lots of sports events, when he pulled his largest lens out of his kit bag and told us the price....well lets just say I could have purchased another Lotus 7 replic with what it cost.
KiwiBirkin
Last week while I was out for a drive with one of the NZ Lotus Seven forums in his Fraser I noticed he had a couple of halogen spotlights in his grill and the thing I notice while ahead of him was how visable his car was with them on and his main headlights, even at a very far distance you could see his car lights very clearly, after a couple of close calls this week in Grace with cars pulling out in front of me or turning across me I decided they were a good idea. So off to Supercheap and $70 later for 2x 50w spotlights ($29.95) and relay and in line fuse and the variuos connectors needed I was set to go, I removed my radiator and took it too work and welded some mounting lugs on the bottom and then had one of the guys machine upo some nice ali stalks to put the spotlights on. once the radiator was fitted back on and the lights mounted it took about 2 hours to wire all up through the replay and inline fuse and it was all set to go. Im very please with the result and im sure its going to help me be more visable to cars around me now. KiwiBirkin
My Car is in McGregor Motosports getting a check over for the move to Australia and while it was there I decided to replace the rotors, anyway Mark spent a considerable amount of time trying to get rotors that matched what was on the Birkin and there was nothing in NZ that matched. So it was decided that to ovoid the same issue in Australia a brake replacement was the best thing to do and Mark suggested a set of 4 pot Willwood brakes and disks, these were to be put on the car and all set up and the car driven to make sure everything is right, the kit will then be pulled off and I will take them to Australia as a kit and put them back on there when the car has cleared all the customs and checks that it goes through for it to get on the road. Having the Willwoods will at least allow replacement rotors to be easily acquired. scannon
That's a very nice setup. Was the mounting plate custom made by the shop or is it available from some manufacturer?
KiwiBirkin
That's a very nice setup. Was the mounting plate custom made by the shop or is it available from some manufacturer? The mounting plate was drawn up by McGregors and then they had it lasercut. The only part of the Willwood setup they didnt use were the rotors and replaced them with a Ford Cortina unit as we were on a limited time frame for this fitout, the Willwwod rotors required a mounting units to be machine out of a aluminum billet which would have taken about 2 weeks to get drawn up and made. I think they are a great upgrade and should really help with stopping the car and at least now I have something off the shelf and not a custom made rotor which is what the Birkin part was and was unavilable to me in NZ & Aus. I need the car back by the end of this week so I can give it a good clean as it goes in the container for Aussie in 3 weeks.
