An early present to myself...

Car is still being put together...slowly but surely. With luck, it'll be in NJ by Spring. It's been interesting finding/buying parts here and there. The original cars came with 13.5 to 14" wheels from what I know...was shooting for 14", but this one (15") came up from Mike Lempert and I liked the blonde wood to complement what will be a mostly black car...my car won't be 100% original, but I'm trying to keep most things period-correct.

Now you need to find the Lotus logo center cap. It would look marvelous ;)

I've been looking for a while and haven't found one yet.

Dean I was just on Ebay and there is Lotus horn button for $49. It didn't list a size or what it fits but might be worth a look. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lotus-New-Horn-Button_W0QQitemZ110459773107QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item19b7ea60b3. Mike

@11Budlite: Bruce, that looks like one of the original Springhalls...from what I understand, there is no metal frame/rim that goes all the way around the wheel...so in the event of a crash, you could end up with some splinterage! The Les Lestons are very close in styling, so I hope the LOG 30 voting base won't hold that against me/the car! As for sizing, we'll have to wait and see. The car came with a period correct "racing" style black/black wheel, so I can always use that.

@BruceBowker: Yes, of course! It's probably been 10 years since I first stopped you to ask about your car at the Frenchtown Citgo...just go slow enough that my old car can keep up!

@Croc: Mike, the car is still in rebuild in Colorado. Well, actually, the rear axle is in Wisconsin...I found an apparently unmolested Triumph rear and am having Chris Beebe (Peter Egan's pal) do his strengthening deal on it. And I think I've mentioned, I bought 5 wobblies from various and sundry people in the past few months. John D. is an amazing hub/resource for original Lotus Sevens here in the US; though even I surprised him by finding that spare axle.

Wooden wheels are great... but yes they splinter!! i was in an accident in an old healey 3000 with a wooden wheel.. YIKES!!! the wooden wheel was REALLY scarry! by some miracle the daggers missed my chest. as beautiful as they are.. i would think twice before having one again. However i have seen plastic fake wood ones...that look pretty dang nice. yeah it's fake but it might not puncture a lung.
