Alaskossie Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Kitkat, I don't now about MightyMike, but I am thinking of adding a go-faster stripe down the bonnet of my silver S3, in the same gray color as my wheels....since I have to get new paint the bonnet and cowl during my repairs, in any event. It'll help me keep the nose pointed in the right direction... Sounds like the CSR that RMSC is selling has a similar color scheme.. Tom
scannon Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 IIRC Caterham USA charges around $3,500 to assemble the kit. You would have to add a lot of extras to hit six figures but it can be done. About all that is missing from this kit is a regular windscreen and the weather gear if you are planning on making it an all weather street car.

I will pass on my Birkin, but am thinking about putting a phantom stripe onto my Elise.

It was found to have a top speed of 80.4 mph (129.4 km/h), could accelerate from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 16.2 seconds and had a fuel consumption of 31.0 miles per imperial gallon (9.11 L/100 km; 25.8 mpg-US). The test car cost £1157 including taxes of £386. They commented that car could be bought in component form and then it would have cost £399 for the parts from Lotus, £100 for the Ford engine and gearbox and £27 for the BMC rear axle.[6]

The car may have been only £1157, but the pound has lost about 96% of it's buying power since 1958. That means this car should cost about £30,000 nowadays or $47,000. That is a lot of money for such a slow car ;-)
