1959 Lotus Seven at Mt Equinox Hillclimb

I've driven the Mt Equinox road in Vermont a couple times in the past and had a lot of fun. It's a private road that's a little bumpy in spots but it has some really nice corners. And on clear days it has some fantastic views.

It sounds like it's time to do a gearbox refresh on this Seven...

Surprised to see they had what looks like a helmet bag in the passenger foot well at the beginning of the run. Most groups require the passenger compartment to be empty of objects like that because they can become a distraction if they come loose.

I do like the aircraft style of battery jumper connection. Wonder if the car even has a battery or is using a magneto setup like and airplane and some racecars.

I seem to remember there was an aluminum finished (silver) 7 competing on this date. Both vids keep fueling the fire to build my 7! Of course I won't be entering any "legal" hill climbs with mine. Thanks for sharing the vid!

I think I agree with you Bruce. He lost time one handing it through the hairpins. When he does the gearbox overhaul I would also do the dog leg gear stick modification to get it out from under the dash. I used to scrape my hands something fierce on the dash trying to find a gear in my box of neutrals on my S2.

I have driven that road to but it was in a Subaru Liberty Outback wagon and it was operating as 2 way road that day. Not very sporting!

The engine definitely has some pop. And, if nothing else, the video conveys the visceral experience of driving a se7en. Any lurkers out there wondering what it mite be like to take a se7en for a spin will get a good feel from this video (complete with failing parts:)).

That car takes real heart to Collin's "simplify" motto. Love the "bare bones" look of the original 7's. Except for the areo drag I'd have that mirror set up on my 7. I'm a bit sick of the blind spots on mine but would hate to hear what the wind through the two he is running sounds like at anything over 80.

Thanks for that link Bruce! Watching original 7's and drinking coffee is a bad combination for me; I'm starting my day at the redline!

How about a Series 2 in Japanese with some really cool music? :)
