Hi all, thought I would introduce myself, having just registred and made one post.

I live a long way away from USA, in Dubai, but thought it would be interesting to see what is going down over there, and since I do vsit once or twice a year, maybe meet up with some fellow enthusiasts once in a while.

I was wondering if it was the same Mike in Dubai off Blatchat and Tom plus the pic of your car in the other thread seems to confirm that it is. Welcome to the forum. :seeya:

Ooh, if it's that Mike, I had the pleasure of seeing and hearing his beast on USA2005. And if it's not that Mike, well...welcome anyway! :-)

Welcome sequential7. The photo of your car in the other thread looks somewhat familiar. It wouldn't have matching exhausts on both sides would it?

Wow, you guys are quick! Sussed out on my second post!

Budlite, it would indeed.

JohnCh, indeed tis I! Thanks for the welcome, and hope to meet you again someday. USA 2005, despite subsequent amazing adventures, was the best thing I ever did in the post rebuild beast, and I am sorely tempted to do it all over gain, solo if necessary. The pics below say it all, it doesn't get better than this!

Croc, how ya doin? open the eskie and throw another beast on the barbie!

The vagaries of life have directed me down under 3 times and I must say I love the place, refreshingly direct compared to the old country.

At this point I must reveal to the majority of like minded (7's) folk on here that I am a Brit expat, having left 20 years ago to seek my fortune, and now finding myself unable to return on a permanent basis to my point of origin due to cultural collapse. There is so much BS there now, that while I revel in the family, friends, sights and smells of home, i am repulsed by the PC BULL, and nonsense that I encounter on every visit. OK rant over.

Tom, your handle means that you must be the Tom that I rode with for a while on USA 2005! trust that all is well with you. The redwood forest was amazing!

Lets keep the folks guessing for a litttle while longer, see pics below.

Love the pic arriving in Moab. Agree that USA2005 really was a very special time - from the roads to the scenery to the people. Hope rumors of a 10 year reunion tour are true.

Mike,

Welcome aboard! You've got one of the most photographed Sevens around. I recall that parking garage at Vail, Colorado in the "How the West was Driven" blat in 2005, when your car wouldn't run right at altitude, and the entire garage was filled with the smell of unburnt fuel....

Attached are a few of my snaps of your car from 2005 -- love the super-extended rear wings! (That woodpile must be the same as the one in the background of the shot you posted -- unless you've now got a gasogen convertor for your Seven!).

Alaskossie, I wish i could run it on wood, the price of gas in Europe when I go on tour there is ridiculous, no problem in Dubai of course, in fact the Federal National Council of the UAE which a consultative body that reviews proposed laws and can suggest new ones, has recently reccommended to the government that gas prices should be brought into line with the other countries in the region.

That would mean a 60% reduction in the current price, which is 1.78 US Dollars per US Gallon.

MBEARDEN, Re footwell vents they are indeed boat items, I bought them from a local chandler, but you can get it here http://www.navstore.com/detail.aspx?ID=1762

Boat stuff is ususally good quality stainless and lasts forever on a car, mine are 14 years old now and still as shiny as new. I have never polished or otherwise maintained them.
