slomove
Quick drive up from L.A. to Newcombs Ranch in the local mountains (5300 feet). Almost got stuck in Rose Parade traffic.

m wirth
Not quite as much snow as sunny California but we had a dusting and 33 degrees and sunshine, just went out to see some friends, no one wanted to take a spin, just not 7 people.

lucky dawg
All of a sudden, I am just a little bit less self-impressed with my 45 minute drive in 35 degree weather today. But it was beautiful out.

slomove
No one is worried about salt/snow removal chemicals? Not really. There was a lot of cinder gravel on a few ice patches that made its way into the cockpit but as far as I know they don't use salt in the Angeles National Forest. lancylad
The only thing on the roads I was on, was from the rear end of live stock...and it was frozen anyway...
scannon
First blat of the year for me this morning. It was 25F when I left for the monthly C&C this morning, all the way up to a blistering 30F by the time I got home. The roads were dry and the sky was blue and all was right in the world. Pretty good turnout considering the temps this morning. A new Morgan 3 three wheeler and a new Mustang were the only others that showed up topless. There was a brand new Boxster S parked next to the previous model and the differences though small really made the car much better looking to me. I never really warmed up the the original car. S1Steve
I, unlike Skip, had the top on. I went to the local car wash and gave it the much needed bath. Then went for a run to see if the header -sidepipe would fall off. It didn't. Then stopped off at the local state park for a smoke and a mens room trip. Then drove off to my back road trip. What a great day. Edited January 6, 2013 by S1Steve

scannon
Steve, Its looking great. Tell me more about those side curtains. What is the function of that metal bar going sort of diagonally across the window. How do you like the sound of the exhaust system? I would have had my top on but I need the Caterham Butt Extractor (Pat. Pending) to get out and I think it would ram me through the roof before getting me high enough to get out of the car. Skip, The window below the metal bar can-will slide down the inside of the door for an open window. Everything above the metal bar is part of the top. I like the sound of it, its still loud. The C-B-E will work with my top, I can fold it into t-tops. Something I should have done yesterday.. Steve

Kess
I *had* (rhymes with sad) an S1. The top and doors were a truly great feature. The doors had actual plexi windows that went up and down (with your hand of course) with a large knob you tightened to hold them at the desired level. The doors were also solid (not canvas). The doors came off quite easily as well and stored in the boot. As Steve noted the later S1 had a top you could run as a t-top which was pretty cool and handy as well for getting in and out while still appearing somewhat graceful. You can zip it all closed from the inside. I have included a few photos. Here is a link to more from the page I posted when the car was for sale. http://www.gmsr.info/pre2007/s1sale.htm Looking at an SV presently hope to have one for the next LOG which is about 6 hours from my home in Vermont.
