mfast Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Seems to good to be true??? http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/ctd/4083626620.html
Croc Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Looks genuine from the limited photos available. The dealer (Park Place) has sold Caterhams before. The Donky looks to have a Ford BD engine which makes it quite valuable for that alone (if it is in good shape and not needing a rebuild). Ali nosecone. I guess the price is low because it is viewed as an orphan by the market.
JohnCh Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 That's sounds like a screaming deal given the engine. mfast, if you're seriously considering the car, there's a slim chance I can swing by later this week and take a closer look. Send me a PM if you'd like to discuss. -John
TheDingo8MyBaby Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Agreed - fantastic deal there. Keep in mind - that BDA can be expensive to maintain and a replacement head will cost nearly half of the price of the car
dhubbard422 Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna' be thrilled with my new S1 (I pick it up Sunday...) BUT, I'd have been all over this if it had been for sale a few weeks ago. We ran Cosworth BDA's in Formula Atlantic's back in the '70s & '80s and oh my... they sound very nice... a well tuned BDA is something special.
My Seven Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I just called the dealer. Lotus 1966 Super 7 Re-Creation 2,249 miles - $15950 (Park Place, Ltd. (Bellevue, WA)) is now SOLD Robert
RGTorque Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 *crosses fingers that its headed to the north east!
mfast Posted September 28, 2013 Author Posted September 28, 2013 I just missed the Donk by literally 5 minutes. Sold while I was getting a price for shipping. They said it was headed to Arizona. Still kicking myself for not pulling the trigger 5 minutes earlier!
Off Road SHO Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Sweet. Hopefully the new owner will chime in here. I finally got my S-1 here and am acclimating it Arizona's "atmosphere". Tom
Automoda Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 ... and we find out that it was purchased by a guy that thought it was a dune buggy. We'll hear stories of how awesome the sandy rooster tails it makes are now that the fenders have been cut off and paddle tires added. )
coffee break Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Not much ground clearance for off roading!
