Hi,

Thought I'd introduce myself to this forum before asking any questions about my 7. My name is Jason and I've just recently taken possession of my grandfather's 1959 Lotus 7 Series 1 that's been sitting since the 80's.

I'm definitely going to be asking a lot of questions on tracking down parts. I'd like to keep it as original as it stands now, even though I already know it has a later 1275cc engine. I just want to keep it in the same trim as my grandpa did.

Very cool. Are those Cosmic alloy wheels? Where are you located in SoCal?

Indeed they are. I'm in West Covina, about 30 miles east of LA

Welcome to the forum.

As you have an historic original, be sure and also join the lotus seven club out of Brittain. They tend to be geared more towards the original end of the seven enthusiast clubs. And will be a very valuable resource in tracking down scarce parts and specifications.

Welcome to the forum. You have a real gem there, and your approach of keeping it as it is will get you a lot of support here.

Excellent car and looks to be in excellent shape. Feel free to add lots more pictures:).

Google: simple sevens, for a site dedicated to original cars like yours.

Looks to be something else interesting behind it in the garage. What car is it?

Welcome.

The email group dealing with Lotus 7's is lotus@se7ens.net you should introduce yourself there. It has almost constant arguments concerning orthogonality and what is "proper". Given the tens of thousands of dollars difference between authentic and authentically restored cars and others it pays to be consider the these things.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm looking forward to digging into the car.

The car in background of the first picture is Ford Model A

Nice car! I'm glad to see another Seven in the LA area too.

I had no idea there was such a Seven following out here.

The great thing about taking that approach is not only are you preserving the integrity of the car, you are also honoring your grandfather, his love for the car and his love for his family.

Best of luck in the times ahead.

You might try Simplesevens.com for more info. John Donohoe caters to original sevens. Good web site. John Watson of the Lotus Seven register (UK) can give you original build info.

or Mike Ostrov in Richmond CA is always willing to talk to seven owners (although he is primarily Type 14 Elite guy) 510-232-7764 or mikeostrov@webtv.net. Mike also has the factory build sheets.
