Pictures?

Color Combination?

Which wheels?

Which shocks?

Which rear suspension?

Which seats?

Which gauges?

Does it have a top, side curtains, tonneau cover?

maintenance (ie: tires dry rotted, brake and fuel lines in need of replacement. Suspension needing a rebuild due to drying out from lack of use)

There is so much more that should be taken in to account

$22K is definitely ball park. Be aware tho that these undriven, like-new cars are old. So old bushings, old hoses, etc. And lack of use is not necessarily good for wheel bearings, engine, etc., etc. My ideal used Caterham is one that has been used and maintained regularly, more than low mileage. Still, I think the price is reasonable if it's in as-advertised condition.

Other thots: the Dedion rear is a plus, ditto long cockpit. Is it 5sp., 4sp or 5sp, LSD, leather seats, weather package (top, heater etc.), standard roll-over bar or FIA bar?

My 1st Caterham was spec'd like yours and I loved every minute of it (after I replaced tires, hoses, engine mounts, -you get the idea). I put 15k miles of combined street/track use on it and a smile never left my face.

If anyone has a interest in the car let me know-It is absolutely beautiful and like new- 22k

I'm confused. Have you decided to pass on the car, or are you involved in selling it?

Thanks,

John

In 8/2012 I bought a 1997 Caterham with 1800 miles, I have not had any of the aforementioned possible issues because of age/non-use. Even the 1997 tires I had fully intended to replace right off have not yet fallen short of my limited skills on local blats. I would have considered that price a bargain.

Car has always been stored indoors and started and driven on a schedule- it is in a car collection that most cars are in the 6 figures if not more.

Are you the owner, brokering it for the owner, or did you buy it to potentially flip to a buyer here?

Indeed, an odd tone from someone looking to buy a car.

However, you can get a feel for sales prices from this website. Although the final price isn't listed, you can get an idea of the price based on the time it goes from posted to sold especially when the owner lowers the prices. Obviously there are more variables to price than that, but it does help narrow down your range a bit.

And since I'm a purchaser of a fifteen year old car that didn't see road duty very often, I'll echo Kitcat's comments. I'm on month nine of going through everything in detail, and replacing what needs replacing, and catching up on maintenance. Lots of stuff just gets old when not used. But that was actually a selling point for me. I needed a project.

ratedx,

You go from asking what this car is worth to offering it up for sale at 22K. If you have a car you want to sale, my suggestion is to become a paid club member and post the car for sale in the Cars For Sale / Wanted section of this forum.

You can join using PayPal ($20/yr) via this link. Once you've become a paying member, your permissions will be revised and you'll have the ability to start a thread in the For Sale section.

I'll close this thread so questions about your Caterham remain in the new one. However, as BigDog mentions, I'm sure people will be interested in learning more about the open wheeled race car in the background, so don't hesitate to start a new thread about that in the Off Topic forum.

Thanks,

John
