Tony Stewart's accident

Has anyone else seen the video of this racing tragedy? Essentially Stewart is racing in close quarters, makes contact with another driver who crashes. Then that driver is so ticked off he unbuckles climbs out onto the track and walks into traffic pointing and calling out Stewart, whose car then sideswipes and kills him. Unbelievable....

Never get out of your race car unless it is on fire, wait for the wrecker, or the extraction team. Regardless, unfortunately, he would still be alive today if he followed the rules that are drummed in to each race driver and team from the beginning of their race careers.

Tragic, tragic, tragic, our condolences go out to everyone involved.

Well. Where does one start on this?

1, My heart goes out to all involved.

2, I'm shocked given the WWF nature of circle track/NASCAR, that this hasn't happened a long time ago.

3, The WWF nature of these two race series is why I haven't bothered to watch any of those races in 30 years. The mentality of the participants of these two motor sports just confirms that I made the correct decision all those years ago to not watch it EVER again.

4, It appears on the video that the deceased ran further onto the track just after a car passed and into the path of Stewart who was pretty close behind that particular car. One should also factor in that it was a night race.

5, What did the driver (Ward) think he was going to do to Stewart?

Being human is a flawed existence. Emotions can get the better of us and it can lead to unfortunate and tragic results.

A person in a black outfit, a slit second on a poorly lit track and a cloud of dust, just enough time to go very wrong.

No one comes out unchanged.

Of course everone is deeply saddened by such an event, but Sprint car racing is probably the most violent, quick, dangerous, adrenalin filled and contact ridden of all the racing types. Walking on the track during a race is sheer madness.
