Diverse groups getting along
MHKflyer52 replied to MHKflyer52's topic in Politics, Religion and Controversy
I don't trust Snopes as someone controls what they say but that is me. :jester: I have to agree and can picture it happening especially the dumpster part....:hurray:  If PETA had there way we would all be vegetarians (An old Indian word meaning "One who can not HUNT") and would have rubber sole shoes and plastic belts but again that is just my belief. -
What a wonderful coming together of two diverse groups! And the best is it is my home state. We need more gatherings where the idiot activists are given warm, moist, aromatic welcomes like this one. This is why PETA usually protests women wearing fur rather than bikers wearing leather. Sounds to me like the old saying, "you mess with the bull, and you get the horns". Gee, I guess these characters thought that Bikers were going to be 'politically correct' like the rest of the wimpy world. HERE'S HOW POLICE FOUND ONE OF THEM. Johnstown, PA (GlossyNews) - Local and state police scoured the hills outside rural Johnstown, Pennsylvania, after reports of three animal rights activists going missing after attempting to protest the wearing of leather at a large motorcycle gang rally this weekend. Two others, previously reported missing, were discovered by fast food workers "duct taped inside fast food restaurant dumpsters," according to police officials. "Something just went wrong," said a still visibly shaken organizer of the protest. "Something just went horribly, horribly, wrong." The organizer said a group of concerned animal rights activist groups, "growing tired of throwing fake blood and shouting profanities at older women wearing leather or fur coats," decided to protest the annual motorcycle club event "in a hope to show them our outrage at their wanting to use leather in their clothing and motor bike seats." "In fact," said the organizer, "motorcycle gangs are one of the biggest abusers of wearing leather, and we decided it was high time that we let them know that we disagree with them using it, ergo, they should stop." According to witnesses, protesters arrived at the event in a vintage 1960's era Volkswagen Van and began to pelt the gang members with balloons filled with red colored water, simulating blood, and shouting "you're murderers" to passers by. This, evidently, is when the brouhaha began. "They peed on me!!!" charged one activist. "They grabbed me, said I looked like I was French, started calling me 'La Trene', and duct taped me to a tree so they could pee on me all day!" Still others claimed they were forced to eat hamburgers and hot dogs under duress. Those who resisted were allegedly held down while several bikers "farted on their heads." Police officials declined comments on any leads or arrests due to the ongoing nature of the investigation; however, organizers for the motorcycle club rally expressed "surprise" at the allegations. "That's preposterous," said one high-ranking member of the biker organizing committee. "We were having a party, and these people showed up and were very rude to us. They threw things at us, called us names, and tried to ruin the entire event. So, what did we do? We invited them to the party! What could be more friendly than that? You know, just because we are all members of motorcycle clubs does not mean we do not care about inclusiveness. Personally, I think it shows a lack of character for them to be saying such nasty things about us after we bent over backwards to make them feel welcome." When confronted with the allegations of force-feeding the activists meat, using them as ad hoc latrines, leaving them incapacitated in fast food restaurant dumpsters, and 'farting on their heads,' the organizer declined to comment in detail. "That's just our secret handshake," assured the organizer.

Can you tell this is real? Lotus Seven S3
MHKflyer52 replied to jqpix's topic in General Sevens Discussion
jqpix, One thing to remember is all most any 7 you find on this side of the pond have been assembled by an enthusiast from a kit or has been rebuilt at some point in time. As Terry says there are some things that are not the norm from looking at the photos to me such as the color of the suspension parts and such but no two 7 are identical as they are all hand built and most owners have personalized them to their own taste even if they had someone else build the car for them. I would suggest that you shop around and look at more than one 7 and try several different ones on as they are like buying a pair of shoes and are unique and different than any other car you have ever looked at or bin in and that is just one of the things that make them special. What is important is if you like the car and the price is correct then go for it or shop around and find the car that fits your needs and price point. Again remember no two 7 are the same even the ones that Caterham builds today as they are all hand built and that is one of the things that makes them such a special and unique car but that is just my belief. Nice looking car but again that is just my belief. Have fun with your quest and ask all the questions you might come up with as there are a lot of knowledgeable folks out there that know these cars. -
Thank you to all the Veterans and Military personal who have served or are serving the United States of America and the people of this great country and for what the United States of America stands for for all people. :flag: Without people like you we would not have the freedoms that people take for granted here in the United States of America and the rest of the world. Thank you for the freedoms you have given all of us.

Hank that is one hell of a tow car for your 7 or any other car.....:jester: It already has AC I thought....windshields open out.....and as for a heater dose the engine not put out enough heat......:smilielol5:......especially on the passangers side foot well due to the exhaust routing.:jester:.

A drive shaft hoop is always a good idea even with only a 100 HP car but that is just my belief. The hoop will help contain the driveshaft within the trans tunnel and help reduce the damage to the driver and or passanger if it should fail. If you need a drawing to take to a shop to fab one up e-mail me and I will send you an file of a drawing that will work. See post 18 of this posting for a photo with dimensions.

Boy I though I was spoiled as a kid by my father............so do you want to adopt a 60yr old.....just kidding.....the license plate is great.
-
Twobone, Interesting watching your expression as the drive progressed, concern and enjoyment, watchful and reassuring (tap on the arm at the stop sign and a point to go right) to a smile that says this is great almost as if it where your first ride in a seven. Neat. :driving:

Now that is funny......:jester:

Hi Duane, You might want to look at spacing the flange plate out where it mounts on the axle as that seems to me to be the simpler way to fix the problem.
-
Hi Duane, I would say you need to investigate the why the calipers are rubbing first and then if you need to remove any material I would do it at the face of the caliper where it mounts to the axle hub flange to center the rotor in the caliper gap. One other thing I notice in the photo are the bolts that hold the flange to the axle have the locknuts towards the rotor and seem to be very close also. It could and most likely is just the angle the photo was taken though. I might suggest that you turn those bolts and nuts around so that you can inspect the nuts from the center of the axle plus that will give you a bit more clearance I think. Just a suggestion and remember this is part of the ownership of a 7 and what makes them so special and the people who build or assemble their own car.

Now that is funny Croc....:smilielol5:

Parking Brake on passenger firewall?
MHKflyer52 replied to Kess's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Think about where the original 7's steering wheel was and the location of the e-brake handle then becomes clear and yes the early Lotus 7's and Caterhams did mount the e-brake in that location. -
:jester:Put the top down and drive it like it is stolen.....just kidding.:jester: You might want to go to a sail shop and see if they can replace the zipper with industrial Velcro or a zipper like the ones used in a Miata.

Ground your gauges mounted in the dash if mounted in fiberglass or carbon fiber.
