1. That is a good one.
2. Someone once told me that true driving skill is driving fast without having a lot of HP and still having fun at the end of the day. Having said that my car is powered by a BMC 1800cc (MGB engine) and has what most feel is low HP for a 7 but like KiwiBirkin and BruceBowker and Twobone have said or indicated that the HP is not what makes the car but how the car is driven and enjoyed. I find that I am typically in the top times at the autocross's I have attended, not the fastest and not the slowest but it sure is fun to watch the big HP cars try to do better. :cooldude: http://usa7s.com/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=3389&d=1314388466 Kess (Gary) May I suggest that you find and drive several 7's with different HP engines to help you make your decision on which car to purchase as some with high HP will be fun at first but might not be what you will not enjoy the most or able to uses to its maximum all the time especially if you intend to use the 7 on the street. Besides you never know you might find a 7 that just fits perfect even if it does not have BIG HP.
3. Bruce that is one BAD TO THE BONE VW BUS and a work of art in my belief. I like this video clip even better.
4. Hi Scott, Your link to Youtube takes you to a subscription page just so you know.
5. An I thought I had a tough commute........:jester::smilielol5:
6. 34.2 miles to the office in the morning M-F...about 40 minutes if no accidents or delays on the freeway...can be a lot longer some days. 35.6 miles from the office to home in the late afternoon M-F....about 45 minutes if I leave at 3:30pm an about an hour and a half if I leave at 4:30pm. Just one of the prices that I pay to live where I wish.
7. That is very cool. Someone from the Md. area should look these folks up and then show up with a real seven so they can see one up close and personal. I would but California is a bit of a trip if you know what I mean.
8. Sounds like the EPA has found a way to support its self by charging the oil / gas producers for a product that does not exists, sure wish I could come up with something like that and get paid for it.
9. Quite the HONOR for one of our fallen HERO'S and his family.
10. Check your belt tensioner if you have one as they will make a low grow sound when the bearing in the idler is going out also the alternator and the water pump bearing can do the same. Hope this helps.
11. If the belt has the correct amount of tension (should have no more than a half inch of deflection on the longest distance from pulley to pulley) and it is not old and hard from age then try a bar of soap held to the belts contact face as this will some times provide enough of a surface treatment to stop those nasty squeals when the belt slips on one or more of the pulleys. Hope this helps. :driving:
12. Re-soak it with PB Blaster and then put a wrench on it and put some torque on it to try to loosen it or tighten it and then while holding the torque tap it with a hammer to shock it as this sometime will break the grip and let the penetrating fluid do its job. Hope this helps.
13. Here is a link to a very good source of small parts and items for a lot of different types of cars www.cbsonline.co.uk you can down load their catalog or read it on line.
14. About the only thing I see that is maybe an MG is the VIN number. Cool car with a different twist to what a 7 might be......maybe an off shoot of Frankin7.....:smilielol5:....:driving:
15. Have to agree, so tell us about the mini and what looks like an Alfa in your garage. :driving:
16. Thanks Skip for the post of the web site and old photos.
17. Skip I laughed so hard that my eyes where watering.....glad there is no such thing a SMELL-A-VISION....still laughing.....
18. So Hank are you replacing your 7 with a Miata....:jester:....just kidding. You should not have a problem with selling your 7 as it has a lot of very nice features.
19. Now that is so true and also funny. A couple of times it looks as if the glass plate actually hit her in the head with the recoil from the impact.
20. Hi Skip, I was once told while in the military that the flexible under-garment bullet proof vest we were issued (I was stationed at a US Embassy) would stop a 45 slug due to the surface area of the projectile deforming as it hits the vest material and that it would defiantly break some ribs and most likely knock you down and out while a small cal round would actually cause more damage due to the amount of penetration before losing its energy due to the deformation of the projectile by the vest so shooting your friend with a 22 long rifle was very chancy and he was very lucky. They also told us that a knife or ice pick type object would go through the vest as the point tends to move the fibers aside by going between them and that is why most modern vest now have some form of ceramic plate incorporated into them to my understanding. Either way it was a last resort type thing I due believe for the vest. As for sitting behind the windshield like the gent did I do not think I would due it either. If you watch the clip he actually flinches even though he knows the shots are coming and they most likely tested other windshields before he decided to sit behind that one in the clip. The gent has some stones in my belief.
21. Here is the flier for the registration for the autocross on March 11 2012 at Earl Warren fair grounds in Santa Barbara, CA.
