It is most likely to facilitate the start of a new business in Iraq and to help their economy I would bet. If you read between the lines of the Solicitation............"Joint Contracting Command-Iraq is soliciting for a baby diaper making machine.".............apparently there are a lot of new infants now in Iraq or they are going to make new head raps...........sorry I just could not resist as I am not always PC nor claim to be........:leaving:

Those videos are the main reason I have not made a top for my 7 and besides here in Southern California you really do not need one anyway :smilielol5: and I am 6'2" or 74 inches tall also. Have to admit I do not think anyone else has posted a video of themselves getting in or out of their seven on this site before which I find very cool and informative. :seeya:

Nice 7 you have their Rubo, what year is it, what engine do you have and so forth as most of the members of this forum are most likely asking the same questions and woundering also whos MGA is that sitting next to your 7. Have fun and enjoy your 7 and post some more photos when you have the time. I see you have posted some photos in the Members Rides section...looking good.

I must be OLD or something as I do remember that song and it still brings a smile to my face just thinking about it. :smilielol5: I think my father purchased a Rambler American Stationwagon for my mother because of that song....BEEP BEEP....:driving:Trying to get out of second gear. :seeya:

Hi Dan, You might want to post a photo of what your talking about to help others understand and see just what your asking. Just a thought as I was woundering what type of 7 and dash you have from your post. I can only say that I would think you will have to remove the windshield and shuttle / firewall to be able to remove and replace the dash pannel. I would think the aluminum dash pannel probably weighs less than a carbon fiber pannel when installed as I think you will have to add grounds to all of your insturments so that the lighting will work correctly if I am not mistaken as I had to insure I had a good ground on several of my insturments such as the TACH, Fuel Gauge, Volt Meter to get good readings and that was due to paint on the back side. Something to think about and besides you can get fo-carbon fiber to go on the face of the dash with a lot less work if you so desire.

Well my 7 is still for sale but I bought something yesterday
MHKflyer52 replied to MHKflyer52's topic in Off Topic
Well just went for a ride up one of the roads that I like a lot and I think I am smiling just as much as I smile when I am driving the 7. What can I say but I like the fact that it is 90 degrees and about 90% humidity and the AC works great. Had to try all the accoutrements that the car offers so I started out with the Top up and then the back window unzipped and then the top down and then the top up and the AC on and all is good for a 1996 Mazda Miata. Found out one thing that I had forgotten about black cars and that the door sills get hot and when you put your arm on it going down the road it wakes you up...well makes you pay attention as it gets quite warm. I can see now that a new set of tires are going to be in line soon as after looking at these they are ok but they are about 5 yrs old and seem to be a hard compound and happen to be a M/S tread and I don't think I will see much mud and snow here in Ventura, CA. unless the climate really takes a big swing sometime soon . My wife has not driven the Miata yet and I do not think I am going to push her to as I think I will lose it to her if she dose drive it as it is just that nice especially with the top down but maybe that might be a plus for me to get the Caymen sooner. -
Well my 7 is still for sale but I bought something yesterday as I just could not pass it up for the price and my wife was the one who pointed it out to me so I figured she would not be that upset with me so I bought it. Should be fun and something for me to tinker with and it can sit outside without any concern. I know it is not a Caymen but it will due until I find a buyer for the 7 and yes the rear window needs to be replaced but it is a convertable and the top will be down most of the time. It is a one owner Miata that was a friend of my wifes and it has been taken care of and serviced on a regular basis and it was under 2K even after registering it here in California. Only draw back is it is Black but has Tan leather interior so I can live with that for the time being. :driving:

windscreen and radar detector help needed
MHKflyer52 replied to MNlotus's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Dose the valentine one radar detector have the ability to have a remote sensor. If it dose then you could mount it in the nose of the car and have the control and lights in the dash or just under the dash. So did you get stopped in the 7 or are you just being careful to avoid a ticket. Also you might want to make sure you have some type of EYE protection on while driving your car with only the aero screen and even check to see if it is legal in your state to drive with one. -
V-Rodd, If you want a ride in a completely hand built 7 I am north of you by about 40 miles (Ventura) and can an will take you for a ride if you want to come up some afternoon or evening so you can have a good idea as to wht your looking for and besides my car is for sale if you might be interested. Could help pluging my car. Anyway here is a link to some photos you might find interesting. http://picasaweb.google.com/MHKflyer52/ALotus7Replica# I have to agree with the others that the best way to find what you want is to test fit as many different 7 as you can to see which one fits you the best. :driving: :seeya:

Lots of folks on the list are in California, myself (MHKflyer52), Slomove, Gert, Mopho just to name a few. The simplest way is to just buy one that is already street legal in California or go through the SB100 process here is a link to get you started. http://www.replicarclub.com/Newsletters/Tech_articles/Registering_your_car_in_California.pdf A lot of people will tell you that it is hard to do but if you follow the rules and play the game you will and can get your car registered in the state of California without too many problems and besides that is part of owning a seven. By the way my Lotus 7 Replica is for sale if you are interested. Hope this helps. :driving:

Well here is one that I know of that sometimes catches some flack from some folks but I think it is funny anyway.....but that is me and I am not always PC...

Question 1: The Bevertail as you called it is the best way to go as it lets the angle of the ramp extend into the trailer to help clear the bottom of a car or what ever is being loaded. Another words it keep the vehicle from bottoming at the gate hinge on the trailer and with some car such as a seven were clearance is low it helps a lot. Question 2: The first trailer that I had was fiberglass and it worked very well. Only draw back that I see is if it sits outside you have to insure you keep a good coat of wax on it or it will eventually look like and old boat that has been sitting outside for sometime as the UV rays tend to kill the fiberglass resien overtime if not properly kept up. Question 3: On a short trailer such as a 16' deck the V-nose will actually give you alittle more storage space and from talking to folks that have the in larger traillers they say their fuel consumption is less due to better aero but I also think it has a lot to do with the tow vehicle. Question 4: This might sound funny but do a search for Big Tex Trailers as the use to be built north west of Huston and they can make any size trailer you want and if you go to the factory you can cut out the middle man which helps the bottom line a lot. Question 5: Why not get an open trailer with a wind block if your going to store the trailer inside. One of the best reasons for an closed trailer in my humble belief is it can be used as an extra garage for storage of any vehicle / car when not being used to transport a vehicle. Also make sure you get brakes on the trailer as they really do make it much safer to tow especially with anything smaller than a full size truck and if your tow vehicle is a Landcruser then you will need them. Electric Brakes seem to be the easiest to maintain and are the more common brakes on most car haulers / motorcycle trailers, some folks like the surge brakes that you find on some trailers but they have some safety issues and will tend to pulse when going down a grade and can be trouble some if not maintained and serviced all the time. Not sure but in some states I do not think they are legal any more do to that. Also make sure the tie downs are rated for the weight of the vehicle your going to be putting in side and that they are mounted into the frame work and not the deck only. Just a thought but a 7 x 14 foot trailer is going to be a very tight squeeze for anything besides a couple of motorcycles especially when you go to try and tie your vehicle down to the deck. Measure the width of the vehicle you intend to cary and then add a minimum of six inches to that and then try to find a trailer that deck (open space) will meet that as you will need the clearance to get the vehicle into and out of the trailer with out hurting yourself or the vehicle also do not forget that you will want to tie down the object so you will want to get in front and behind the object with cargo straps to secure it from moving around. Then once you find the trailer that you want try loading the vehicle to make sure it dose fit the way you want and that you can tie it down with at least four cargo straps with out killing your self in the process. Hope this helps.:seeya: :driving:

Hello Robert, With my car the roll bar gets all kind of chips and nicks in it from me tossing the shoulder harness belts over the top of the bar. I usually take some 600 grit wet dry sand paper and smooth out the chips and then tape off the roll bar with blue masking tape and the Sunday newspaper and then get out a can of gloss black spray paint and apply a couple of thin coats on the bar until all the chips are gone. I guess I do this maybe three or four times a year just to keep it looking good but then I am a cheap person when it comes to paint as I feel if the paint cost as much as I make in a month then I would not enjoy my car as I feel one should enjoy a car so I have a supply of spray can paint for the two colors on my car School Bus Yellow and Gloss Black. Here is what it looks like and it only takes about an hour for me to do it when it needs it. http://www.usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=3808 Post number 7 :driving:

So what is your Tow Vehicle and Trailer look like?
MHKflyer52 replied to MHKflyer52's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Now that is very cool. Did you do all the mods your self snookwheel. Looks like you can go to the track in comfort and still have all of your toys with you. -
That is the new method for recycling the Cash for Clunkers program that the government created.....:smash: :smilielol5:

Have to say maybe you need to just move to the left 3 inches to keep from hitting the right rear fender with a cone  just needling you as I know how it can be. That is why I made my rear fenders the way I did (see photos below). As for fixing the pulled fender attachment points you can always go to a larger rivenut and then use plastic bolts in place of the steel bolts.

Well I think I am going to sell my 7 Replica
MHKflyer52 replied to MHKflyer52's topic in Cars For Sale
No problems their gert. My problem is I already have a Porsche 914-6 that I have owned since June 1970 and both my loving wife and I have had several others over the years and we both like the Cayman a lot and my wife is ok with the 7 but likes the Cayman more and she said that if I want another car something has to go and I said how about the Outback that she drives and I got that look that I would not be happy if I did that so the seven is on the block and if it sells then life will be good....maybe. :driving: -
