One tire keeps going flat......
MHKflyer52 replied to MHKflyer52's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I would have to say she is priceless to me so I don't think I will find out...........besides is that not illegal...... -
Sure is a shame but that is what happens when CEO's make the bottom line the most important part of business instead of a business that makes a good product that people want or desire and keeps pace with the rest of the world.

One tire keeps going flat......
MHKflyer52 replied to MHKflyer52's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Ok Thanks for all the good feed back on my tire situation. I am going to try the inflation to max pressure and check for leaks one more time before breaking the tire down again as it is still loosing air when sitting in the garage. I am concerned that I could have a small crack in the bead of wheel / rim that we have not spotted as I have looked at the outer bead area and their seems to be a curb blemish on the rim that I had not noticed before. Maybe it is time for some new wheels and tires for my toy............just have to sell the wife that the rims are not safe which should not be to hard to accomplish. Again thanks for all the input as I sure have been shaking my head over this problem. I will let you know what I find out after checking the wheel / rim and tire later today. -
Ok I am stumped on this one. :banghead: The right front tire of my 7 keeps going flat well looses its air (normal air pressure 18psi cold) only after sitting a couple of days. I have had the tire inspected for a puncture twice now (taken off the rim and checked) and have found none, replaced the valve stem both times, placed the wheel and tire in a water tank to see if we could see any leaks from the rim, tire and valve stem but did not see any. Any sugestions as what could be the problem.

The Blue looks better than the black in my opion and looks very sharp.

:hurray:  WOW.....Work now.....I am one of those folks that dose not change things with the computer when I have no idea as to what it will do. :seeya:

That makes Franklin7 look weak......just joshing.....wounder how fast it will go and how far on the fuel it can cary in that tank.....I think that engine burn about 8 gph when in an airplane at cruse at altitude and about 16 gph on the ground during takeoff.

So where would one find the icons to put in the messages. I have only see the icons that appear at the end of the subject line or I must not be looking in the correct place.

They seem to have made the quarter the size that it is now worth......(:>).....

That is for plugging in your electric blanket / heater for those winter drives in the Northeast.......(:>)

I think you are correct about that after looking at the video (slow system at home prevented me from looking at it before now).....The more I look at this car the more I like it for the quality of craftsmanship and the way the builder innovated aspects with art and design. Wish I had the talent that the builder has in forming aluminum especially the nose cone.....just plain sexy and beautiful.....just not sure about sitting next to the drive train and gear box exposed like they are…..might be hard on the hip bone.

Making a boot cover need info.
MHKflyer52 replied to MHKflyer52's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Thanks for the kind words.....Drove it to work today and what a differance the cover makes....less buffet and wind noise and a place to put stuff with out having to have it weighted down to keep from blowing out while going down the road.....also looks a lot more finished now and it still is not completed....have to do around the rollbar tubes still and make two flaps to cover the splits on both sides. -
Thats funny......When you check for the other half of your car you should ask the intern if she would like to help find it and then do a fast lap around the block and then tell her you did not see the other half....(:>)

Still chuckling and shaking head.

Congratulations. Post some photos when you have the time as a lot of the folks would and do like seeing other cars
-
The car looks good but If you look closely I do not think it is finished as I could not see any sign of a steering rack or its tierods in any of the posted photos.

That is just something else.....still shaking my head....wounder what type of reaction they would get when steping into the batters box and doing that before the first pitch.

Making a boot cover need info.

Well today I spent all day cutting and sewing and placing snaps and buttons on my new home made boot cover and car. Still have to finish were the rollbar back supports come down through the cover. Hardest part was drilling that first hole in my rear aluminum pannel...that was hard to due but after the first hole the rest were easy (22 in all so far). Well here are a couple of photos of how it looks so far. -
Lotus built two hardtop 7's to be used as rally cars of which only one still exists to my limited knowledge. Their was a web site that I had run across that told about the two cars and some of the problems that Lotus had with the such as weight and windows fogging up in the cold if I remember correctly. The site might have been the Donkervoort site but I am not sure. Here are a couple of photos that I did save of the two Lotus 7 hardtop cars of which I think the photo you posted is the first car (the one on display).

So true and even more with a driver that is smooth and knows how to use the avaiable power to the best advantage.

The thermostat dose several things when installed it the system. As slomove has stated it does help get the engine up to operating temp by causing the water / coolant to heat up which causes the thermostat to open so the coolant can flow through the system, block, head, and intake manifold on some cars, radiator and water pump. It also provides a restriction in the system so that the coolant has time to be cooled while passing through the radiator. When the thermostat is removed from the system the coolant does not have a restriction so if the radiator does not cause enough restriction then it does not have enough time to cool to keep it from getting above the critical boiling point and then over heat. Most thermostats have a small hole in the base plate to let the coolant pass even when the thermostat is closed so that the water pump dose not cavatate or sucks a hose close which is sometimes a problem if the water pump is not getting enough coolant passage through it which will also cause the engine to overheat until the engine RPMs are reduced enough to allow the water pump to lose its vacuum and coolant to flow. In some race applications were the engine is running at high RPMs for sustained times like during a road race the thermostat is removed for better coolant flow but a restrictor plate is placed where the thermostat goes to provide enough restriction of the coolant through the system so that it has enough time in the radiator to lose the heat but stay close to the max operating temp of the engines cooling system for the best performance but usually does not work very well when slow or in stop and go traffic such as normal street driving. Just my thoughts but you might want to look at the temp range of the thermostat that is in your car and even test it to see if it is working correctly. If it is working correctly then I would look at the radiator to see if it is flowing correctly as a partial radiator block will also operate with the same you have described. Hope this helps.

Nice!!! The secret to keeping the heat down is to not stop moving......(:>)
