  1. Mondo and lowflyer, I was in Hawthorn yesterday afternoon and at 4 pm it was 109 by the readout in the mini van that we were in and the bank across the street that we were parked in front of said that it was 106. I sure am glad I live near the beach as the high in Ventura was 74 and clear skies.
  2. Yep I was there and Jon even let me run over some cones with his 7 and he had just meet me only 5 min's before that.....I was floored that he would let me run his car without knowing me at all and Jon was quite nervous at first but on the second run Jon jumped into the passenger seat and keep yelling GO FASTER GO FASTER and pointing and waving as he kept yelling GO FASTER GO FASTER. PS: I should be back East in early October into the Philadelphia area, just started to plan a quick visit to see family.
  3. SOLD Well I think I am going to sell my 7 Replica. 4. So the guy on the apartment balcony is a pin head :smilielol5: and the Navy pilot has a helmet on that adds about 3" of diameter to his head. Wish there was a photo of the same guy about 3 seconds later to see his reaction as I think he would have been very surprised by that flyby...I know I would have especially if I had not been aware that a FA18 Super Hornet aircraft was coming by for a low pass.

So Mazda what are you going to tell people what Franklin 7 is after you put the Jag rear end into it....Not really a Rotus any more. :seeya:
  6. Wow I just read my post that said to read # 12. Sorry for seeming to yell at you. I did not mean it that way at all. :o
  7. One thing that I see that they might want to do is put a better photo of the complex that one can identify the different areas of the facility so someone looking at it will have a better understanding of what is there, otherwise very nice site I feel, easy to navigate, good photos, clear and concise information about the museum facilities.
  8. :smilielol5: Maybe that is why he is a single parent....... :smilielol5:
  9. Read post #12 in this post.

  12. I don't think you have stirred the pot at all and yes I do remember the 70's I think (they came after the 60's did they not). You are just expressing a known fact that some people just do not want to accept as they live in denial that their local governments would do that to its populous, just like the fed is doing to the entire country by bailing out corporations that are greedy and mismanaged due to that greed. Just my opinion and belief so now I have stirred the pot and am now holding on.:leaving:
  13. Jen that video make me simi home sick for the keystone state.....green and nice country roads to travel on.....Originally from Coatesville, Pa......have to agree it is a good sound track for your video and well done to boot. What type of camera did you use as it is clear znd stable.
  14. Lowflyer you’re very correct about it being a Porsche Spyder I did not read what I had typed in my original post. You are also correct about the engine as the four cam engine is being overhauled and this is what the owner stuck into the car so that he can drive it when he wants. I don't know about the trans axle as I did not ask but I do not think any of the early VW transaxles have a breather in that location but who knows. This car is driven regularly on the streets around the area where I live and that really amasses me as it is rolling history. The owner has said that he knows of 5 other originals that are here in the Southern California area which I also fine very interesting.
  15. Well a friend of mine whom I will not identify as he wants to stay low-key and inconspicuous but he is quite the craftsman and he has been lent this Porsche Spyder 1500 RS Serial Number 0088 one of 90 ever built and one of maybe 12 left in existence if even that many so that he can verify the wooden bucks that he has made to make the body parts. My friend is working on reproducing an exact replica of this car and parts for them. He are some photos that he let me take from inside his shop. The wooden bucks that he has made are just incredible.
  16. Welcome to the site and group. Looks like your having fun with your car and that is what it is all about so have fun....cool license plate by the way. :driving:
  17. Now that is FUNNY........one dangerous child their with a magic marker....
  18. Here is the link for the video and I would also have to agree that the car in the video is a BEC 7 but of what make would just be a guess. http://www.nelsonledges.com/TFMap.aspx
  19. Hi Dermot, You might look into this software. Rhino Mac Software I have not used this software but have heard good things about it, like it is easy to use and has a trial time so you can evaluate the program and that it is not that expensive compaired to other programs for designing. Hope this helps.
  20. What can one say.........THAT IS JUST INCREATABLE.........
  21. Holiday weekends. :ack: That is why I tend to stay close to home and off the roads, they just seem to have more things go wrong. Croc sorry to hear about your adventures but you will now always have something to laugh about for every 4th of July weekend besides fireworks and what others have done like washing your drill in the dishwasher. :flag: Still chuckling about that......:smilielol5:
  22. I to find that I do drive slower now and usually keep my speed to within 7 miles per hour of the posted speed limit when out on the highways. Must be old age and just being cheap and not wanting to give my money to the state or the insurance company due to higher premiums and such.
  23. Hank your such a DOG......Tatas and tata for now....enjoy the views and drive....:seeya:
  24. Now that is a HOOT....:smilielol5:
  25. Well yesterday late afternoon I took the tire that was leaking to my friend’s shop where we removed it from the rim and die penetrated the rim to see if there are any cracks. Well we did not find any but the rim has many very very small pin holes in the main part of the wheel between the rim beads. I now can see how the air was escaping when sitting for an extended period of time as the rim seems to be porous from what the die penetrate shows. My friend said that he has seen this occur on aluminum cast rims when they have been refurbished and refinished without the inside surfaces being sealed as my rim has been by me. So the simple fix seems to be to coat the inside surface of the rim with a rim sealer to plug any microscopic pin holes that might be the offending leak and then reinstall the tire and inflate and then let it sit to see if it leaks down. He also suggested that I clear coat the outside surfaces of the rims that I have as I have never done that and that will help fill any of those very very small pin holes that one does not see without die penetrate. Well it looks like I have solved the leaking tire problem for the time being but now I am also wondering if the other three rims will need the same treatment in the feature so I am now on the hunt for some new rims that will be lighter than what I have now as these rims are heavy compared to the newer rims that are in my friends shop. Just have to find the correct offset and lug pattern as the rims that he has in stock are for the more modern autos which all seem to be front wheel drive and have very large offsets compared to what mine are (3.75” from the inner bead to the lug face) so now I get to start looking for a wheel design that I like with the correct offset for my car. Again thanks for all the suggestions on what could be wrong with the tire and rim as I sure was at a loss.
