  1. The photos that zeefoto.com has on their site are much better than killboy's for clarity and content. Thanks Andrew7 for finding that site.
  2. Mazda, Look at photos 296 / 305.
  3. Hi Mazda, No that was what I had started to due and then I in-closed the tunnel. If you look at the photos of the frame again I have added a discription to the photos that show what I did. The are the ones were the frame is sandblasted and waiting to be painted. Hope that helps.
  4. Looking at the engine compartment it looks to be a LOCOST due to the frame layout no upper support tube running from the trans area to the upper front tube on eithe side of the engine. The rims look to be the same as the ones that I have on my LOCOST book build which came off an MGB also the speedo and tach look to be the same as mine which are Smith (MGB) along with the turn indicators and highbeam indicator mounted in the dash. Nice looking car no mater what it is...ITS STILL A 7 and will always put a smile on your face.
  5. Hi Mazda, If you make something similar move and mount them make sure you move them in towards the center of the shaft maybe two inches as most shafts when they fail will move on the splines / yoke that has not failed and the way that the ones pictured are mounted there is the possibility that the drive shaft could move out of the capture hoop and still get you. Also make sure you use a true grade eight bolt and have the attachment area beefed up also. My tunnel is completely enclosed in steel for just the reason shown in the first set of photos. I know from experience that you can not get the car stopped fast enough when a shaft failure (usually a universal fails) occurs. I was fortunate to have the rear universal break in a race prepped Healey and by the time I was able to get the car stopped the driveshaft had beaten a hole through the rear axle bulkhead and trans tunnel and started into the side of the seat I was in and took out the lower right seat belt mount in the process. If you go to this link you can see how I dealt with it in a couple of the photos during the build. http://picasaweb.google.com/MHKflyer52 I know my way is extreme but it also stiffens up the car quite a bit.
  6. Congratulations to Al Navarro for stepping up to the electoral process and becoming the club secretary.
  7. Congratulations to John Viviani for stepping up to the electoral process and becoming the club president.
  8. Mazda, That is cool. Thanks for sharing.
  9. That is a good one.....Did Mazda give you back the grill or dose he now have a spare.
  10. Hi Al and others, From reading the posts that have been posted so far it sounds as if the people that could not attend missed a great get together and a lot of fun with other 7 owners. Looking forward to seeing more photos and posts when you all get time to post what took place at the gathering.
  11. Hi Mazda an Al, Sitting in my office working while you and the rest of the 7ers are having fun and wishing that I could have made it to the Dragon to meet everyone and take part in the fun. Best I could due today was to drive my 7 to the office today while thinking of the group that will be at the 7/7/7 event. Have fun and post lots of photos for all of us that could not make it.
  12. Neat old film and cars. YouTube Video
  13. YouTube Video http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-190771873940064971
  14. Hi Bruce, Nice trailer. Just be carfull if loading or unloading when the deck is wet as it can be very slick. Again very nice.
  15. No a snow plow for the folks in the North East.
  16. Looks a lot like a narrow Alard JX2 from 1951 time frame.
  17. I have my paperwork; Insurance, Registration, small photo album of the build all in a plastic bag which get put under the seat cover of the drivers seat which I sit on so they do not get sucked out of the car when having fun going down the road. Works well and is out of site but still easy to access.
  18. Nothing like the above posts until you consider my car started as a dead and ready for the junk yard MGB and now has been brought back to life as a Replica of a Lotus 7 or Locost 7 and by no means as low-cost as the book said it would be in the end but still a lot of fun and it dose not even look like an MGB or run like one. It runs better and the smile is much greater.
  19. Very nice. I like the color a lot. Looks fast just sitting their. Oh and a good choice for photo backround, Makes the car standout even more.

  21. When it is in salt water it is tough on the aluminum if they do not do a fresh water wash when they get to their base. All of the helos that I have seen used for that special opps operation are cleaned and lubercated after that type of mission. The hardest part on the aircraft is the outboard motor if the coxswain (the guy steering and operating the outboard) dose not get it up into the stowed position as the prop will hit the ramp floor and it can due a number to that. All those floor pannels come out and are replacable in no time plus the helo has drains built into the belly to let what ever water that gets under the flooring out. From what I saw in that video it was a training mission and was in fresh water due to the color of the back wash just before the IBS entered the cargo bay. The CH-46 will float for quite a while and has even been known to due a water taxi when needed to pickup downed aviators / survivors. By the way the only groups that I know of that due that procedure are called US Navy SEALS and some very special US Force Recon Marines and guess which one I did not serve with....been their and done that...lots of fun.
  22. A friend of mine (Joseph D. Garrison, M.Ed., LPC) made a plaque for me and my car which is pretty cool of him because I had made a comment that I was looking for a nicer plaque that would tell what the car is and have the important information on it and would look like it should be on the car. This is what he produced and sent to me in the mail all for just taking him for a ride and letting him drive my car for about an hour one day. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1166148560_Data_Plate___DSCN2079___12_June_2007.JPG I mounted the plaque between the seats by the rear wall so that anyone can read the information when they look at the car. Pretty neat I think for a homemade machine and a nice plaque to boot and a good friend. By the way Joe is building a Locost 7 that he started after his ride in my car.
  23. Hi Mazda, That is very cool but your one out their guy....at night on a country road...can we say deer, racoon or some wild animal jumping into the road... nice recovery but I bet you did not try a second run and drove home nice an sanely...I know I would have and probley would have had to change when I arived home. As for letting a journalist drive your car I would have to say the person would have to have s lot of track time under their belt and you would have to confine were and how they would drive your car. How much HP and what is the Tourque that your motor puts out.
  24. From the looks of the hubs and the studs in the vid I would bet that the lugs were cheap ones and were over tightened and stripped or the rims with the track tires were to thick at the attaching face for the stud leinght and that would cause the lugs to only thread onto the stud a little and then strip once loaded in a turn or some one had it in for that guy. Sure did mess up a nice car. I'll bet the TECH crew recived a lecture on checking lugs and wheels.
  25. Mazdz you will find that you have less time now than when you had job but it sure is nice to be in a position to be able to slect what job and were your going to due that job at and for whom. Enjoy the time away from corporate life. PS: I retired in 1990 then started a bussiness and sold it to start another and sold it in early 2006 to retire again and found that I was going stir crazy (real truth is my wife of 20+ yrs said I needed to find something to due) so I found another job working for someone else to keep the space between the ears working and to keep my wife happy, so far I like what I am doing now.
