  1. But it is most likely true.
  2. That is true I guess if you don't care but when you own several properties and they are all paid for now no insurance would be just nuts:crazy:besides they are my retirement plan. I just wounder what the people that owned those cars drove out of the evacuation area.
  3. I know and understand that but if your house was not in the fire that was casued by the arson and the Fire Department determines that the cause of the fire that burned your property was due to something like a tree branch falling due to wind on powerlines or from blowing embers then I think you would have one heck of a time with the insurance adjusters unless you have added coverage for those types of things. Just my thoughts as I don't know of many insurance companies that like to payout. By the way I do have coverage that covers those types of things.....earth quakes, wild fires, mud slides, flooding, etc....
  4. I know...Just glad I am not the insurance carier as it is going to a battle to get them replaced due to the act of god clause that is in most Calif. insurance polices. They are still looking for the person who started the one fire that burned most of the homes.
  5. I am fairly sure that even if you use a pre 1975 auto (actually the vehicle needs to be a 1973 or older to be smog exempt) and modify it to the point that only the firewall and data plate is retained from the original car you will still have to have the CHP inspect it as the DMV people seem to require you to due that if the car dose not look like the vin number says it should look like when it came from the factory. To my knowledge which is limited only the CHP can issue a new vin number or assign a new vin number. You had best have all the recipts for everything as when they (the CHP) inspect it, you will be asked to prove were everything came from. I played by their rules and did not have any problems getting my car registered in Calif and did it without an SB100 number. Pit falls to avoid. 1. No reciptes 2. Trying to short cut the rules. 3. Using an engine that was not avaiable before 1973. New engines will need a SB100 exemption. 4. Poor quality of build as the inspector can be very strict as to what is legal for street use. Best bet is to buy a 7 that is already licensed and registered if you don't want to go through the hassel. I do know were their is a Series II Lotus 7 (right hand drive) that needs a total resteration which might be for sale so if you are interested contact me off list and we can talk. 6. Very COOL.
  7. He was most likely scared of FRANKEN7.:jester:
  8. That must have been almost all of them that are in the USA.
  9. Will Franken7 be getting a new name with this re-make.
  10. :iagree: An you even have the built it yourselfs (like me) who fit right in with the manufactured 7's and vise versa and I have the cheapest paint job to my knowledge out of everyone I know or have met so far ($22.60 for six cans of spray paint) and that is kinda the way our group is. We just enjoy our cars and the people that have them. An by the way you will always have someone asking questions about your 7 an so far no one that I have meet has turned down a chance to ride in mine yet or any of the other members cars to my knowladge.
  11. Boy that is one tight fit for the exhaust but I like it a lot. Those are some fancy bonnet supports.
  12. Nice now the smiles will occur for you.
  13. Very nice. How is the exhaust routed. Your dash is very nice with the brass gauge faces.
  14. You would never see that in SOCAL and I am glad of that. But you migth see this. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/585154752_DSCN1820.JPG :jester:
  15. Now that is funny!!!!!
  16. My time average was 0.201 not bad for an old blind guy.
  17. What no smoking brissels on that broom..........:jester:
  18. Mazda, What address do I send my check too. I also figure that $55 US is worth it to me and what is left over can go to USA7s for overhead expenses. MArtin Keller Ventura, Ca.
  19. Maybe we should put together a group buy to help reduce the payment hassel if more than a couple of us want the watches. I know I would take one but I do not like doing a Paypal payment nor have an account.
  20. Well we finally received a little rain in the Ventura, Ca. area today which is nice for all of us and especially the fire fighters as it sure will help them get the fires under control. We really could use a couple of days of just a steady light drizzle / rain to really get everything back to normal, not a lot as then we would have mud slides in the burned areas and the people that live in those areas would have even more problems than what they now have to deal with. Here is a photo of the sky at 3:30pm Oct. 21, 2007 in Ventura, Ca. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/167138296_Oct 21 07 1538 hr Smoke from Malibu Fire.jpg That bright spot is the sun as seen from my backyard that day. What looks like a bird on the wire in the lower left is actually a chunk of ash the landed on the lense of the camera as I took this photo. I would guess that we had a 32nd of an inch of ash on everything that was not exposed to the wind. Glad to see it coming to an end.
  21. :iagree: The South Island is great especially and just south of Christchurch (lived their 4yrs) as you have beautiful rolling hill farms (example Timaru) that sit on the east coast with snow capped mountains to the south and the central part of the island plus it has four seasons of which I feel are fair to moderate and the people are great. Just have to convince the wife to move again and that is were I would call home if it were not for her family.
  22. Hi Al an Jon, I bet your 7 will get more attention than the others while being displayed (housed / stored).
  23.
  24. I agree as I know you have the drifting down Boxologist as per your fine example at "Ripkin" but like me we both need more control while drifting....
  25. Well I have to say I took last place out of the 7's and proud of it (41.713) as I never would have had the opertunity to even run if it had not been for Tom (39.381), Norm (37.843), Mazda (40.853) and especially Jon (41.214) for coming out to meet me. Again THANKS and I had a great time.
