  1. I was in Belize Central America near the village of Maskall about one hour north west of Belize City, BZ. working at building a golf course and resort that I am 1/3 owner of and at the time working on the fifth fairway and green. I can still remember yelling at the young man who came rushing up to me on one of our bikes that we have for resort as he had just driven onto the green that I was in the middle of inspecting as the green was only a week old and we had told all of our employees to stay off the new greens until we tell them that they can walk on them to mow and to never push of drag any thing across any of the greens as it will leave wheel ruts or grooves in the green and here he was on this bike right next to me in the middle of the green pulling my arm and saying you must go to office now. I was beside my self and could hardly keep from smacking him as I yelled at him to get the hell off that bike and this green but he just kept saying “Mr. Martin you need to come to the office now as Mr. Tom said you to take bike and hurry”. My first though was that Tom one of my co-partners was hurt or very ill as the kids face was dead serious, I asked what is wrong as I started to get on the bike to ride back to the office and all I got from the kid was “Mr. Tom said for you to hurry” so I did. I got to the office to see Tom and most of our staff all gathered in front of one of the TV’s when Tom looked at me and said we were under attack by unknown people as they have flown into the World Trade Center with a hi-jacked jet liner. I remember saying to Tom that someone has tapped into the Belize TV cable again and was showing a poorly made home video when Tom switched to another channel that was much clearer and had a different commentator trying to describe what was taking place when in the background their appeared another airliner which flew into the other tower. I think we all stood their in dead silence for the next couple of minutes trying to comprehend what we had just seen and what it meant. About an hour later we both got on the phone to our families in the states to let them know we were aware of what was going on and to make sure they were ok. That was the last phone call that we were able to get through to the states for the next 18 days as almost all of the phone systems outside of the US were either shut down or limited to certain types of usage due to the attacks on the WTC, and the Pentagon. The other thing that I remember is about two days later while sitting in front of the office I realized that we had not seen an airplane that we knew crossed the night sky every night at the same time going the same direction so the next morning Tom and I went to the US Consulate in Belize City and were told by the people their that they were going to send someone out to check on us if we had not showed up when we did. At that time we were told that the morning flight that had left Belize International for Houston, TX. at 6:30 am on the 11th had been diverted to Mexico City and were asked if we knew of anyone on that flight which we did as I had take two couples to the airport and put them on that flight to Huston which was diverted to Mexico City. Later we found out that they were stuck their for almost 2 weeks due to no flights into the US from Mexico. We went another 22 days with out any banking or major purchases due to the almost total collapse of the economy of Belize due to the attack on the WTC and the suspension of flights into and out of the USA. AS for the tourist economy it is finally starting to come back but now where near what it was prior to 911 and as for the resort and golf course it is for sale. PS: The other day I remember was when President Kennedy was shot it Dallas TX.. Opps I am telling my age now.
  2. Good one.
  3. Heck I though a hat, scarf and wool jacket was a heater along with the trans tunnel being warm to hot depending on how much air flow your car has through the engine compartment.:jester:

  9. Hi Gert, That was pretty good. I enjoyed see where you were and the roads and the other 7 either following or in front or alongside. How is your camera mounted so that you can rotate it and what controls its rotation.
  10. I have a very similar setup that your mechanic has suggested and it works great. Used an old go-cart tire to make the rubber washers. Sounds like you have a good mechanic who just dose not change parts so use his idea.
  11. Ok so what day month and year will the group have 500 members. I say Oct. 10, 2007. As of this post their are 460 members by what is at the bottom of the page. No cheating by the administrators now and thanks for developing such a great site for our enjoyment.
  12. Very nice. Have fun an by the way that new smile never goes away with a 7.
  13. Sorry about that rv-4mike if one of the administrators can change that please due.
  14. Ok folks, just how many of us are pilots of aircraft of any type.
  15. That would ruin your day for sure. The people in that pickup received one heck of a surprise and a sudden stop for sure. Looks as if a car could disappear into that hole.
  16. I must say she must have skipped a lot of classes or was passed through the grades due to her looks after viewing that clip.
  17. I am home sick now....have fun.
  18. Ouch!!!! What happened to cause the rim to get bent. Have fun in Portland and enjoy the Beer and Food as that is one of the reasons I like the town. If you have the time drive out towards the Dallas on Interstate 84 to Multnoma Falls (spelling is all wrong) but come back on the old highway. It is worth it. 19. My wife has driven the car a couple of times and has stated that it is like a big go-cart. She has also said that she really dose not feel comfortable on the road with all the large vehicles mainly due to the sides being so low and the fact that it is loud and noisy and windy. She dose ride as a passenger and usually has a smile on her face when we get home, maybe that we are home but I tend to believe or want to believe that she likes the ride for what it is.
  20. Hello and safe traveling to all. Who owens the fine looking C1A that you all parked around at your BBQ. First A/C that I was assigned to fly was a COD out of Rota Spain in the early 70's. I have always told my wife if I had the choice of all the NAVY Aircraft I have flown for my own I would want a C1A to play with, I guess I am just semental. Martin Keller Ventura, Ca.
  21. He is one of the best drivers in the world.... I like were he goes by those cars on the long straight near the end and makes it look like they are going backwards compared to his speed. Very Cool to say the least.
  22. The front of my car is 5.00" from the bottom of the frame at the radiator, the rear is 5.75" at the rear bulkhead and the lowest point is the oil pan which is 3.25" but due to the location has not grounded as of yet....Knocking on wood now....my tail pipe which exits to the side does occasionally scrape in hard right turns if their is a bump in the turn but this is mainly due to the fact that I have the end turned down so the exhaust note is deflected into the ground to help reduce the noise signature. I have scraped the floor pan just about midway due to a driveway entrance angle but only when driven straight onto it and it is just a very light scuff.
  23. Hi Mazda, Get yourself theSolidWorks 2006 The basics with MultiMedia CD (www.schroff.com) ISBN 1-58503-265-4 and SolidWorks for Dummies book ISBN 0-7645-9555-5 from Barns & Noble or any good book store as they are two of the best reference's I have come across. Have fun.
  24. Posted on the Locost_North_America site by Mark Rivera who built his car. This is a copy of his post to that site. "Boy, was yesterday ever bittersweet. I was having a tremendous time on track, eating up cars like nobody's business. Then, at about 130 on the back straight, I went for the brakes, and the pedal went "POP" and straight to the floor. The pivot bolt on the floor mount came out. I'm not proud to say this could have been prevented by using a locking nut instead of a nut and lock washer. I'm ok, a little banged up, but ok. Things could have gone much worse. The car did its job to protect me, and that's why I'm here and not in the hospital or dead. Not sure what I'll do next, have to get the car unloaded and see how extensive the damage is. Here's the video. Mark" From Martin Keller I am posting this to this site as I figure that this actually helps make our cars safer as it make us aware of things that might get overlooked from time to time. Check those pivot bolts for security before the next ride. I did and hope you due.
  25. Hi Walt, Thanks for the info on the car and I will pass it on to my friend that it is a series two.
